If they have any brains left after AC Mirage, they'd make Basim into new Desmond. Dude literally has charm, cunning, wit and ruthless nature as a Master Assassin who can actually lead the modern day Assassins that are struggling against Templars for decades now. But knowing Ubisoft, that will never happen.
Valhalla definitely set up Basim as the direction for future modern-day story, but I'm counting on Desmond's eventual return - via a shroud of Eden, maybe?
@GrandDefenestrator As far as I remember, she came back in a clone or something like that and was immediately killed by Elijah. (I hate you ubisoft for concluding her story in a fucking comic)
I really liked what black flag did with the modern day. The use of perspective does its job to put you in the eyes of the modern day protagonist (voiceless which reminds me of classic Valve games) who is reliving Edward’s past in third person. Unity takes it one step further but does not execute well. I like the idea that I AM the modern day initiate lending my services to the Brotherhood, but it just didn’t stick.
@ oh really? That sounds kind of cool. I thought infinity would just be like an animus HUD like in ac1, where you select the memory(AC game) that you want to synchronize. Of course they don’t use the words memory and synchronize anymore, but I’m pretty optimistic now.
Honestly I’m just hoping Ubisoft do something with basim he have the charismatic charm and he’s so cunning and devious a manipulator i really like him in Valhalla when they first introduce him an when I found out he was the reincarnation of loki I was shock and fell in love with his character he’s so complex
I'm very curious how they intend to connect the Loki/Basim situation with the necessity to explore memories from feudal Japan. I'm quite concerned about this 'cause basically, Basim is precisely that Desmond Miles able to time travel, with peak Assassin skills combined with an Isu nature. They simply cannot discharge him as it means nothing for the future of the modern lore. There's a god-like Assassin out there menacing the empire of the Abstergo.
I haven't seen the video yet but man after that modern day ending of Valhalla they should continue exactly where it left off! it would be criminal if they dont.
@BPRGaming I don't mind cliff hangers like the one in valhalla, but I hate how they just leave it there. It's crazy how there was no modern day at all in Mirage.
I haven't seen the video yet, but man, after the valhalla modern day ending, I really wanna know where the story goes from here. I'll be very upset if they forget about basim. That concept of him in the modern day is so cool.
For me, I won't care about the modern day stuff UNLESS there's a compelling link between the modern and the past for the player. Eg. The more you progress through the past storylines, the more you can progress through the modern one. They need to be linked in a way that affects gameplay, otherwise I'm not interested. Just leave it out or have it as an extra piece of lore in another medium or something. Maybe as an extra narrative feature accessible in the menu. Ultimately, we play AC to be transported to another era and culture to become and assassin of that time. I'm done walking around reading emails.
*Layla was pretty good in Origins.* She felt organic and she made sense for that world and could’ve had more potential… but they failed to make her interesting and she just felt tacked on in the other games
For real man valhallas modern day ending was absolutely insane when I first played it. And the whole concept around basim is amazing. An isu reincarnation who was born almost 2000 years ago in the modern day.
Desmond was supposed to be the ultimate assassin..they shouldn't have ended his story to soon ...of course they ruin Juno story as well ..on a comic!? Would be cool if The Reader (Desmond) and Layla on a animus together in this Game imagine that rather one person exploring the memory also desmond controlling the other character ..
I want it back for sure I want to have the little missions like on ac3. Also I realized we’ve never defeated the modern day templars I feel this should be the game
You all seem quick to forget how much Desmond was hated when he was the main ac protagonist. The modern day was never good or at least never liked. No wonder ubi dropped it
Without the modern day segments, these games would have no weight. They would just be random adventure games. The modern day ties them all together. They need to wrap up the modern day story and end the series. I know theyre trying to milk the series for all its worth, but ypu need an endgame in the modern day and one final game that revolves 80% in the modern day to finish the series. Because at the end of the day Assassins Creed is about 2 groups in the 21st century viewing their ancestors lives in the past to find lost information that will help their side win this millenia old war. That is what the series has always been about. But Ubisoft got greedy and lost their way
I prefer Layla over Desmond but the best protagonist was me in black flag and rouge they should go back to that make the player be the modern day assassin or Templar
Killing Desmond was the start of the downfall of AC. Changing the gameplay formula from Unity and Syndicate, which imo was the peak of gameplay of AC, was the 2nd biggest mistake. In the past every time i heard any news related to AC i was so hyped. Now, i dont even bother to look at it cuz there isnt a single drop of hype in me for this franchise anymore. I shouldn't have been surprised since Ubisoft also butchered Watch dogs
ubisolft panicking n they think Desmond save whole franchises. But i think its little to late for that, n there gonna fuck it all up. They had a chance bring back Desmond after AC Syndicate. After Templars got golden shroud that could revive anything n you can see the Templars were clearly cloning Desmond n using his DNA but cloning wasn't working until they got the shroud. I though they was gonna continue story-line but they didn't n gave us AC Origins with Layla.
Never liked the modern day stories. There was never anything about them that felt engaging. It was just cool to see the bleeding effect where Desmond could learn abilities from the Animus. Shaun Hastings was insufferable. The only thing I liked about Layla as she felt a bit more Indiana Jones. An modern day archaeologist would be so much better.
They are already pretty boring. The story when Desmond was alive was incredibly well written. Now, the story/writing is mediocre at best. The only reason to play AC now is for the gameplay and Ubisoft has, somehow, butchered it little by little as we see with Odyssey and Valhalla.
Understandable, but for example, since Pirates Flag, they went out of hand. It wasn't even a real Assassin's Creed for some of us, and ironically, 2 games later with Rogue, a lot of people complained bc they saw it as a copy-paste of black flag, when the story happens mostly on the other side with the Templars and Shay, being firstly an Assassin just to being left to dead by those who he considered his family, that's why I say it was ironically, a Templar being a real Assassin instead of a Pirate that just became one to left the deep hole which Edward was in. Then they released Unity and Syndicate, both great games and good Assassin's Creed. Then they released RPG after RPG after RPG, and all of them, since Origins to Mirage, they feel so monotone, say what y'all want, each of them were in their respective historical times and even so, all of feel so similar and boring at the end of the day. I preferred Read Dead Redemption 2, and my perspective on realistic ames will never be the same, fortunately. Whoever reads this, thank you.
@@boomboom9065 the problem with modern AC games, is that the story and writing is bad af and isnt compelling. It doesnt captivate the player. In the old AC games, the olayer was captivated by the story and wanted to know what would happen next. The game captivated the olayer mainly using the story, not just the gameplay. In modern AC games, its the opposite. They try to captivate the players using the gameplay instead of the story. Just bring desmond back with either the staff or the cloak... Dropped the cloak storyline last gen but it seemed to be leading to desmond coming back as a Messiah character but then they just dropped it in favour for Layla (which no one liked because she was annoying and whiny)
