John is perhaps the single greatest guest Peterson has ever had. Not only because of who John is intellectually but also his virtue and character. He represents an important underlying force that Jordan has been grappling with his career and balances him in many ways both intellectually and virtuously.

I really appreciate him. I’ve watched all the maps of meaning, personality, Biblical series and I can understand Peterson a lot better than John. But I am starting to understand him more and more. He takes more time for me to grasp. I love learning about consciousness and how we see the world. It’s all extremely interesting and I’m learning why someone else sees things very differently than myself.

The ideas at the end about dialogue with a conscience that can err resonates with me a lot. For many years I was a slave to that small voice -- compulsive thoughts etc otherwise would be overcome by guilt. Then I said to heck with that and for years I tried to just ignore that voice. Turns out that doesn't work very well either, bc the guilt is pretty hard to suppress. Finally I'm realizing that there is more than one voice that speaks to you -- an angel and a devil you might say (though it's probably not that simple) -- and the best course of action is to GIVE THE VOICE A FAIR HEARING. Hear what it tells you to do/not to do, articulate that explicitly, then ask WHY it wants you to do that, ask yourself whether you really believe that voice is reasonable, ask yourself if you just want to avoid it bc it's asking difficult and inconvenient things of you, and then make your decision. I'm starting to thing that the conscience is not only the voice that whispers to you but also the faculty for hearing out and judging the validity of that voice's claims. Also recognize the need to form your conscience well (the Catholic Church emphasizes this point in the catechism I believe), according to what is true, good, beautiful, loving etc (in other words according to God's law).

Dr JP always looks great, I love the asymetric/patchwork type suits he wears, and whoever chooses his ties has a flair for it: he looks every bit the eccentric professor and maverick that he is. Ironically, to be eccentric, all he has to do is speak common sense: that's how rare it is these days. Common sense, critical thinking and sooooooo much knowledge.

The Lord Jesus refers to himself as The Door. Sometimes I feel that some of the conversations dance outside if not at the footsteps of The Door. The key to The Door is Faith. I took that step in 1994 afraid like walking into an empty space. It is the most exciting life to enter in rather than making noise outside.

"Do you think there's any difference between The Valid Voice of Conscience and The Voice of Ineffable...If the Ineffable is is the foundation and if the Conscience is a sign of transgression against it, then those things should be related."
Personally, when I looked Genesis 2:7, I see that God breathed by his own spirit to the human He formed. So, while breathing His own same spirit to the man, I believe that the Conscience of God somehow transmitted to the human he has formed, it might not be the whole Conscience of but but, some of it. And such Conscience may also include anything that's transmitted to the human, maybe intelligence, consciousness, knowledge, wisdom, personality per se. That's why when we look at the kid's who have not being taught of good and evil, as if they have that inborn feeling to determine what's good and evil are that's based on their instinct or sensory judgment by themselves, which are not taught. So, coming back to the above statement, that is why we see the Ineffable Conscience is against the human conscience when it goes wrong. But my hypothesis here requires another bilateral view/debate on the other hand that is while God breathe His spirit to the human, somehow that evil Conscience also may goes along to the human. So the question here: Does God know evil? Do human also can recieve some spiritual knowledge based on the transmission of same spirit from God? Let's talk about this.

Doubt can be conscious or a unconscious thought. To question is to doubt into mysteries and one shouldn't fear it. Unconscious doubt is a suppression of thought by fear. Many times instilled by conformity or by people who abuse power over us.

I think I know what you are feeling. I had to give up some things on my journey in being a more righteous man, or at least a less wicked one. It can feel like losing a dear friend. Similar to the Israelites being freed from Egypt; they still had to wander the desert. My advice would be to give it time and focus on starting some positive habits (reading, exercise, prayer, etc.) After a while, those old things and the attachment to them will fade away and you will be filled with the new.

It makes me think of what Jesus said in Matthew 12:43-45. He said that when an evil spirit leaves, he will come back to check if the house is empty. The house here represents your mind. Now that you have accepted God rejected the evil spirit, focus on filling your house with God's spirit, through prayer, Bible reading, and associating with other Christians. Then when the evil spirit wants to come and you're tempted to do bad things again, your house will be too full.

As a child growing up in a wonderful christian family I questioned what was true in Christianity. It did not take long for me to conclude that on the surface there was a lot of the stories I was being told and taught. So, I came to the conundrum! If it is not true then what do I do? Through it out? Reject it? Well, I went through it. And it took years of questioning what made sense to me? I came to accept that the things I was taught are full of truth and a much deeper truth than what is on the surface of the stories. Born again took on a much more complex and psychological reality. This conversation resonates with my realizations 60 years ago.

Idle, and alone couples, without even having laundry to do and fold, don’t really eat fruit and hide their yonder with shame. But, the message this story gives, perfectly explains why we don’t have a ‘sin’ that presents the average person more shame and guilt.
Unfortunately, many feast because of what people end up carrying, filling the coffers by heaping other guilts and shame.

I remember that comment that Richard Dawkins made in one of the interviews with Jordan, saying bluntly: "you're drunk on metaphors".
That was on-spot! Metaphors should make things simpler to grasp, not the other way around, otherwise you're just showing off building another semantic maze to ratify packs of innocent students. I'm curious, how far one should push speech choreography so that the whole thing turns into noise?

Being a fan of Jordan Peterson’s myself, I’ve enjoyed watching his journey progress from his psychological analysis of Genesis, etc. to his wrestling with his understanding of the Gospel and its message, but I too think that he, in his desiring to analyze it so scientifically, is missing the real message.
“ The sayings of the wise are like goads, and like nails firmly fixed are the collected sayings which are given by one Shepherd.
My son, beware of anything beyond these. Of making many books there is no end, and much study is a weariness of the flesh” Ecclesiastes 12: 11-12

    To Jordan Peterson:
You say act as though God exists, but won’t publicly confess Jesus as King of Kings & Lord of Lords as you’ve experienced in your dream. This is sin. Our relationship with Him is a marriage. You celebrate your spouse publicly.
    Matthew 10:32-39
32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

In the place of pschoanylizing the Christos, we have the personna of witness to insperience. The creative continuum is Whom we've always been, forever. As I assume the ineffable particulars of identity, in the womb, I'm girded with a specific, unrepeatable capacity to observe and interact with eternal creation. Ex-perience--seeing outside of, & beyond my natal or natural specifics, is the supernatural at play. More than me, or I--&, yet, inclusive of my specifics, as well. We call this love, or agape, or being, or "what's for breakfast?" Forsaking the continuum to cling to a temporal stasis--an ordination of self--is, in fact, knowledge of evil. Tsk. We let the vacuum cleaner salesman in the house. The salesman is dead set on a sale. How can I see past, beyond, the insistent need for this contraption, and show the salesman out? I am the continuum, not the homeowner. I answered the door for my Redeemer, not this salesman. I am my Redeemer's house, and He shall sweep me clean. ❤

Are you the cause of your own suffering? It’s time to be a big boy and take responsibility for your own life. The results are now in your hands.

He is precisely that voice of conscience that is calling you Up towards freedom from mere trying to realise your own plans. You are absolutely right that you dont need to be suffering. But it is precisely the imposing our personal will on the material world that causes our suffering. Which we mostly refuse to admit and suffer even more by trying to manipulate things into our own way. Be thankful that you can still hear that voice of conscience. Without it we are absolutely lost and fall prey to the manipulation of the spirits that want to bring destruction of our souls.

@@adamvano3459 yes.. All that while the godless live on.. I wonder what would your final argument be as to what in this world- (and no other) stands for the weak and downtrodden.. Mother nature? The holy spirit?
I reject the part of Jesus which wanted to bring goodness to lesser souls, to those which would never do the same for him, I see things objectively and it's not me in this world playing both sides for some hereworldly plans or material gains but some church actually.
I reject the degenerate in Christ. He should have known better, where and what to do and then maybe his will would bring a peaceful world and not this chaos which is what should now become the bringer of such.
That's all there is. To date. I see it clearly. Eye for an eye tooth for a tooth

I am really glad that you mentioned the Holy Spirit in this because there is not a lot of sharing of the Holy Spirit. ⽰
I am reading the "A Course in Miracles." wWhich is a great way to connect with Holy Spirit for me.
