Would you approach an older couple this way? Or an immigrant family? This guy is just another internet guru trying to get your wallet. This type of thing will work if you're selling gym equipment. Its not ideal in every situation.

The guy talking about the Soft sell is a true salesman that will land new clients, and more importantly, keep the cilents coming back time after time.
The loud muscle guy may hard sell a few people but he doesnt know how to keep them coming back through the door. The people that finally get away from the muscle guy never come back and tell their friends about what a pushy and uncomfortable they are around him.
Ive been in sales over 20 years and can promise you a soft sell keeps them coming back and on high spirits.
A hard sell is a one and done tactic that many rookie salesman make.

Dude, you may have been in sales for 20 years, but your reply indicates that you also have stopped learning. Watch his videos before commenting. Soft sell is damn effective, but it doesn't mean it's always the best way or only way. Versatility is the key of the game. Sometimes clients need that push, sometimes they don't. I've been in sales since 1997. And I'm still honing my sales skills. Take the best practices from many, and tailor it and make it your own.

I like to learn something new everyday but this is basic in sales and it's called selling to the room, or in many cases to the individual.

If your product or offer is actually good, you should always go more towards the softer side on default, because you will be likable to everyone. If you push for no reason even though the customer is already interested, you run the risk of pushing them away.

I've been in sales my whole life and I've seen sales people come and go. The sales people like the muscle guy will get a customer to try them out one time and then never come back.
There are literal books on why not to Hard Sell.
The basic idea is the chunky guy will get his customers as repeat customers giving him the ability to grow his business.
The muscle-bound guy is actually hurting his own business and stunting its growth because the customers he gets using a Hard Sell will never come back and I mean never. They will also tell their friends to steer very clear of anything that guy is involved in.

A lot of people get it wrong, probably because of the lack of experience.
I understand, not everbody wants to have a salesperson like Andy in front of them. Thats because he is the guy that would sell
you stuff, you dont even need. Maybe he is not every customers darling, but for sure he sells stuff where nice salesmen would just
say "you dont want it? No Problem". He is a great salesmen for him and his company, not for the customer.
He's not as good as he claims though. He committed bank fraud but got away with it because he rated out his superiors to the FBI, so they gave him immunity. The reason he's so aggressive is because he doesn't want anyone to notice his facade.
