I own a 2006 a8l with absolutely every option. Chiptuned 4.2tdi with 400hp and just under 1000nm of torque. It’s the best car ive ever had. Bought it for 15000€ in finland.

My mom bought a 1 series back in 2012. I remember thinking it was ludicrous that on top of the 30k usd for a diesel base model, it had to be specced with an extra 20k usd to be usable! Norwegian prices btw.
Yeah man you shouldn’t get carried away with options because they usually screw you up. I usually go mid tier trim so I get the good upgrades but skip the fancy ones.
I just did an estimate on the Canadian Porsche website with the Macan (based at $57,800 cad), with all the options fitted it came out to $173,610 cad so that's 200.3% worth of option it's insane.

In the US, you can get a base Dodge Charger with around 300 hp for $30K USD. If you want the 800 hp model, you are around $90k USD. Similar prices for the Dodge Challenger. Ford Mustangs are in the same league. $30k USD for the base 4-cyclinder 310 hp model. The 760 hp GT500 is around $90-100k.
I remember when i bought a new VW Multivan, the entry level 2.0tdi was priced at 35k Euros, the list price for the one with ALL the options, ended up being 93k Euros!!
I've specced a few Porsche cars, the Taycan, Cayenne and 911 Turbo S, and the option prices are just insane. If I were buying those cars, it would cost me around AU$55k in options
Regarding the Porsche Macan, the trick is (at least in the US), instead of buying the base Macan and load it up with all the options, is to buy a Macan GTS, which is about the same price as the base model plus all the options, but you get a bigger engine.

In Germany you can nearly double the price of a BMW 3-Series. Here the 318d starts at 37700€. With all extras you can buy it for 73700€. Thats 95% more as for the basic 3-Series. Or if you want something bigger: The Mercedes GLE 350d starts with 71900€. With all extras you can buy it for 144900€. Thats 101% more as for the basic GLE.
What about the Audi, they literally have the most expensive options. A base A6 costs under 50k € while a fully loaded (not even S model!) comes close to 110k
I configured a new A6 C7 Avant with 3.0 TDI and Quattro. The base price was 54 000 EUR. After I´ve added all options, I managed to get it up to 110 000 EUR. Ceramic brakes for an Audi SQ7 are almost double of the price compared to ceramic brakes for a 911. Breitling clock for a Bentayga costs literally the same as the whole car.

Just bought a 2021 Genesis G80 and the Genesis brand is perhaps the best at not forcing you to add a whole bunch of options to get a well equipped vehicle. Genesis has a very limited number of option packages and when added they don’t send the price into the stratosphere.

You can pretty much put any German car ever on this list. Got an C7 Audi A6 Allroad a couple of years ago. Starting price was around 60€-65k€, after options I landed at 89500€

In india the car price automatically doubles the car's price in uk/ us due to taxes. So you're better ahead. Ex. basic Lamborghini huracan costs around "5 crore rupees" that's around "500 thousand pounds".
One good thing about Tesla is that basically you get it all with what you pay for. Of course, FSD is too pricey at about $10k and Tesla doesn’t have the best fit and finish or cool quirks like ventilated seats, but a lot of guesswork is taken out of buying from them.

I just configured a new Audi A6 Avant 45 TDI Quattro and managed a 49% increase in price by adding all my preferred options. Then I ticked all boxes available just for fun and the final price increase reached 98% !!!
Volkswagen.. the Golf Style 1.5 TSI ACT starts at 22.962,24 and with the design pack 1.320,90 and (i think) all options 9.258,20 = 33.541,34 euro.. this is a manual.. if you take the base model which is 19k euro and add a DSG gear box and all of the options, it's way more..

Regarding the MINI: the 'carbon black'' interior is indeed partial leather and leatherette. The Mini Yours leather seats (as displayed in the video) are however real nappa leather seats. All seats, apart from the obvious cloth and microfiber ones, are in fact leatherette. Eventhough MINI says they are ''leather''. The only ''leather'' seats offered are the ''MINI Yours'' seats (with the union jack flag).
I think the Tesla model 3 deserves a spot in this video. The FSD pack costs $10000 and when you take in count the performance version and white interior the price almost doubles from 37 grand to 62 grand
In Greece, a simple skoda scala ambition (middle trim level) with the 95hp engine starts from 17.000 euro. If you add all the extras the price is 39.000 euros!!!!! For the same engine... I just checked it! That's 130% increase... Insane!
It’s interesting seeing the manual and diesel options offered in Europe compared to N.America. I can’t imagine a soccer mom here shifting their own gears in their diesel Range Rover or bimmer.

I own currently BMW F10 535d, wich has 42500€ worth of options on it. And there were many option boxes still unmarked, when first owner ordered it. Now, If You consider, base price for F10 520i was 42800€ and there was atleast over 55000€ worth of options avalable, it works out definitely over 125% price increase over standard model. Cheapest option was S441A Smoker package at 60€ and most expensive P337A M Sports Package 5250€ and XC4 - BMW Individual Composition 6560€.
There are dozens of used 720s on autotrader now, many for well under £200k. You’d be nuts to buy a brand new one, especially loaded with options. Your £300k car will be worth £160k in a year.

Regarding the MINI: the 'carbon black'' interior is indeed partial leather and leatherette. The Mini Yours leather seats (as displayed in the video) are however real nappa leather seats. All seats, apart from the obvious cloth and microfiber ones, are in fact leatherette. Eventhough MINI says they are ''leather''. The only ''leather'' seats offered are the ''MINI Yours'' seats (with the union jack flag).

In Greece, a simple skoda scala ambition (middle trim level) with the 95hp engine starts from 17.000 euro. If you add all the extras the price is 39.000 euros!!!!! For the same engine... I just checked it!

Which is a crazy increase, nearly 25% on the list price XD (My percentages are crap so that's probably wrong, but that's nearly half of the original base price just on options!

everyone, mat has a problem with money management, what he calls reasonably priced is what others call expensive😂😂
And the fun thing with the BMW 1 Series is that if you tick all the options the car will depreciate by the cost of those options as soon as you drive it off the forecourt... (same for a lot of cars).

I own currently BMW F10 535d, wich has 42500€ worth of options on it. And there were many option boxes still unmarked, when first owner ordered it. Now, If You consider, base price for F10 520i was 42800€ and there was atleast over 55000€ worth of options avalable, it works out definitely over 125% price increase over standard model. Cheapest option was S441A Smoker package at 60€ and most expensive P337A M Sports Package 5250€ and XC4 - BMW Individual Composition 6560€.

There are dozens of used 720s on autotrader now, many for well under £200k. You’d be nuts to buy a brand new one, especially loaded with options. Your £300k car will be worth £160k in a year.
