ibanez artcores are utterly underrated you never hear about them, theyre some of the best semihollow / hollow / jazzbox ish style guitars out there and the value is astounding
I just got out of the hospital last week, so I figured I'd reward myself for surviving. I watched this video, and guess what I bought? Yep, you sold a guitar to me, and very nice one at that. So Thank You!
This is a FULL Hollowbody, not a semi-hollowbody. That is what the "H" stands for in 'AMH90-CRF. Check with the head office in Japan if you have to. Sweetwater did and found that it is a full hollowbody.
I realise that maybe 30 mins after buy from Reverb(online), that its full hallowbody actually:( They did not refere in spes that and i was 100% sure that its semi-hallow. I become little sad because its not a central block, but i belive it will be good at the end.
This video helped aspire me to buy this guitar! I changed the gold hardware to chrome with an upgraded Gibraltar bridge and added a bone nut and it’s so amazing…
The H in AMH stands for fully hollow (NO center block inside). If you are looking for a similar semihollow with center block running through the body from one belt pin to the other, aspire the sister model Ibanez AM-93. I LOVE my AM-93 - beautiful tone, super handy-wieldy, most favourite neck shape of all my guitars, weight just 3,3 kg. Bought it second hand, and it instantly became my favourite guitar, outrunning the PRS SE Custom 24 and being on par with my 93ies Fender Mexico Strat.
Thanks for capably demonstrating how the Super 58 pickup sounds over driven & effects. It's by far my favorite pickup for clean. Conventional wisdom says it won't work for heavier styles. So thanks for showing what it can do!
Nobody wants to read this, but I just picked up an Dangelico semi hollow Excel SS from the Thomann on sale for 849. They also have some double cut. To me personally one of the best guitars I own and maybe an alternative to the Ibanez shown here.
From Leo: Every guitar has a voice, but a guitarist has the ability to work outside the lines. Of course you can rock a semi hollow. They still have 7 whole notes and 5 half notes. I have seen blues played an an orchestral Harp. For some reason, I enjoy making rock on an archtop, Jazz on a Dan Electro, Blues on a Gretsch, and Country on a Jazzmaster.
God I wish we were friends! 😂 great video! The company I work for are splitting which means I’m getting my unclaimed holiday pay next week, 100% buying this guitar!
Having deja vu with this video... haha I have been eyeballing this model since it came out. Although you call it a smaller body, and it is 2" smaller in width than a ES-335, but it is approx. 3/4" longer and 3/4" thicker in body thickness(than ES-335). I still dig it! Im gonna call my Dad now.. lol, his name is Marvin. hahaa Nice review, thank you!
Stunningly gorgeous guitar. The gloss black one doesn't compare. Should've also been a low sheen finish in the black. Only one drawback, which is the neck dive. That's the small price you pay for the small body as this has, and an SG has, and the Ibanez AR models all have. No way around it. Though this is no more divey than the AM93 which has a center block, unlike this one, and thus more body-side weight. I find that odd. You should play with a strap anyway, or just mount on the left leg, somewhat like a classical guitar player does. That cancels out any imbalance. Your review was glowing and must have sold a few hundred of these. I don't see how they ask you to send it back.
I'm glad Ibanez are still going with these kind of guitars. They were making the smaller bodied semi way way before the ES339 was a thing. I always Aspired to own one. Actually they do a really nice Artist model with tri sound on both pick ups and a stop tail, might stop those ringy tones too behind the bridge
Would love to see these with block inlay, split block, trapezoid, or even the same ones on the Paul Stanley models with the abalone triangle inside the block.
a new owner of one and really really like it, the neck is so nice and silky the tone of the thing when not plugged in is good to just pick up and play too, light weight and slimline body makes it a wonderful experience to play, it encourages you to try that bit more, great guitar. aspiration is being recalibrated...? good video too.
So looks like not destined for a rock music with ringing tailpiece, putting some tape is putting off a bit to do this on such a nice guitar. Also the string breaking can come from either rough nut or sharp edges of tailpiece...
I have always loved electric Spanish guitars, a 6120 was something to aspire to, but I couldn't afford one so instead I bought a Sheraton ii and stuck a licensed Bigsby on it and it more than does the job. It too has beautiful, controllable feedback. Nice guitar, longing review 👌
With the breaking of the string, many things moved into place. The dysharmonia that cuts the ear disappeared. Even the newly installed string sounded better than the original! As for the feedback, there is no point in blaming the semi-hollow body if the properly non-waxed pickups work as a microphone! Experiments with a solid body and shit pickups proved this 40+ years ago.
Great review… I don’t dig jazz sounds, what I like is classic over driven rawk! It would be great if this guitar came with p90’s though… then it would directly compete with the Casino’s and coupes etc..
Just have a pair of DiMarzio Bluesbuckers or Seymour Duncan Phat Cats or even Seymour Duncan P-Rails (but do not expect the rail coil alone to sound nice - it does NOT sound like a Strat pickup, but much thinner) mounted into an AMH-90.
Abstract question here: Has anyone switched the 'strap button' on any semi hollowbody electric to be on the top horn INSTEAD of the strap button being on the heel of the back of the neck? Anyone brave enough to try that? seems like a worthwhile idea but maybe it hangs all wrong after??
I love how you do not Aspire to be cork sniffing jazz player being unhappy with Linden and demanding Maple with a Spruce top. Truth is, we don't know if this design with this softer wood will handle the years, but I suspect that laminated techniques will make it work well enough. And I dig Super 58 pickups... though I love the AM53s natural look far more. Hmmm ....
i saw the guitar player of see you space cowboy last weekend and they were using an esp semi hollow, would i be ok to downtune this guitar and play hardcore on it? with the right string gauges ofc
During the video i thought that this guitar woud give a great Malcolm Young tone in an ACDC-coverband-context (but generate feedback, as it is fully hollow. Now let us all see what Matt Finish sound like as a band.
Nice video, nicely played, nice guitar, nice hair bla bla bla aspire bla bla. Where the fuck can i get that shirt? Btw. i cheated and jumped to the end of the video. What a question. Do you know german band Die Ärzte? You can even metal with a hollowbody.
I play pop punk/metal with a Ibanez AMH90-PBM & i absolutely adore that guitar 🤙🏼
ibanez artcores are utterly underrated you never hear about them, theyre some of the best semihollow / hollow / jazzbox ish style guitars out there and the value is astounding
This this is $700 NEW. It punches WAY above its price point imo.
I just got out of the hospital last week, so I figured I'd reward myself for surviving. I watched this video, and guess what I bought? Yep, you sold a guitar to me, and very nice one at that. So Thank You!
Niiice!!! I’m glad you are well.

I accidentally uploaded this earlier... here is the REAL version
Bob, It’s Marvin on line 3 again with “that new sound “ or so he says you want me to take a message or put him through?

I have one of those. A very nice guitar. Excellent choice.
I just bought myself an Ibanez AM93ME I can't wait for it to arrive.

Aspire!! Thanks for the review, I am myself looking for an Ibanez .
There's actually a Filipino rock band named "Kamimazee" that uses a Semi-Hollow guitar
Seems like a nice guitar one might aspire to one day own ❤
Superb guitar. I think Ibanez makes beautiful jazz guitars . I aspire to one day learn enough jazz chords to play a jazzy song 🎵

Thanks for the review. I now Aspire to own one of these beauties
Aspiring indeed. But that black version looks sooooo much better I think?
aspire! cheers laddie :) its like a shaven smaller back to the future!
True that!
Fantastic review! I play Jazz and Rock... I need to get one!! Aspire!!
I love that guitar. I aspire to one day own it
You said I aspire or I inspire? Not 100% sure! You do both anyway! Thanks!
That mudhoney shirt, good taste. hollowbodies are something else aspirely.
Totally good shirt
I aspire to be better at guitar and life in general. Love the ibani content.
OObanooz 😂
Ee ban yez
Thanks for the review! Sounds great. What guitar is on the left side of the backstage? Wich is with only one pickup.

Holla holla holla body! !banez 🤘🏽
Moon aspiration free since 1683 , before then we had aspirations out the wazoo.
Now we’re just loony lous
I am aspiring to being in able to get one. Just great.
What a beauty❤
What is that gorgeous Strat-with-Jazzbass-control-plate and bridge humbucker in the background on the right side, please?
I aspire to be so enthusiastic about a guitar.
It would be nice to hear a little Jazz on a "Jazz" guitar. People looking for a hollow guitar are usually interested in "Jazz".
Nope - not generally speaking. I LOVE semihollows and fully hollows and love their Jazzy tone, but i do not love jazz music being played on them.
Great review… I don’t dig jazz sounds, what I like is classic over driven rawk!

what an exceptional guitar :-O

I aspire to have your hair in my dreams.
The pointy part of a church is called aspire
The headstock inlay looks like a fleur-de-lis with horns to me
Have you tried playing this on the top of a spire? Or is there summit wrong with that?
Beautiful piece of kit though, thanks.
It was a bit pointy on my bum
Is the sustain on this guitar good?
6:37 I think that’s supposed to be a dragon
i saw the guitar player of see you space cowboy last weekend and they were using an esp semi hollow, would i be ok to downtune this guitar and play hardcore on it? with the right string gauges ofc
It would certainly downtune structurally. Not sure how far before you reach limitations.
@@TheGuitarGeek thanks dude! the furthest that i would go would probably be C and it would be with heavy gauge strings
I hope you Aspire to review more Jazz box's. I will watch if you do.
I’d love to!
@@TheGuitarGeek Seriously its a hole that needs filling. Jazz box guitar reviews that is. You are the geek for the job.
Matt Finish you say ?, a fantastic Australian band you should check out :)
During the video i thought that this guitar woud give a great Malcolm Young tone in an ACDC-coverband-context (but generate feedback, as it is fully hollow. Now let us all see what Matt Finish sound like as a band.
Absolutely mandatory to whomever buys this guitar, is to remove that trapezoid tailpiece, and install a gold Bigsby B6 tremolo.
It is NOT a semi hollow. It is a Full Hollow.
Your are right! Thanks. I’ll change the title
I aspire to prove to you, I watched the hole video.
How does it compare to Ibanez AG75?
I’ve never played the ag75 sorry. I’d guess that this has more mid range and sits more between the ag75 and a solid body. That’s a total guess though
@@TheGuitarGeek thank you.
Aspire 🤘🏼
I aspire not having weird Ibanezezezezezs De Ja Vu hahahahaha
Thanks for coming back! Did you spot the difference?
@@TheGuitarGeek I think not....sorryyyyyyy 🙃
@@TheGuitarGeek oh! The video title??? 😶
Everything looks great except for the plastic nut IMO.
i'm offended by the headstock of the guitar... it just looks so wrong. xD
Thought this was hollow?
I aspire a better world! PAX.
Great video. Aspire.

Just... Aspire! ;)
Aspire
Expire. Esquire. Or sumthin, for the algorithm.
SORRY, MADE IN JAPAN-P
