    Original song was written by Robert Tannahill. A weaver from Paisley. He wrote poems whilst weaving. He took his own life after burning his manuscripts and drowned himself in a stream.

    Oh, the summertime is coming
    And the trees are sweetly blooming
    And the wild mountain thyme
    Grows around the blooming heather
    Will you go, lassie, go?
    And we'll all go together
    To pull wild mountain thyme
    All around the blooming heather
    Will you go, lassie, go?
    And we'll all go together

    Will you go, lassie, go?
    If my true love, he won't have me
    I will surely find another
    To pull wild mountain thyme

    Bob Dylan performed the song with The Band at The Isle Of Wight Festival in 1969 . It was released in 2013 Deluxe Edition of The Bootleg Series vol. 10 : Another Self Portrait (1969-1971) . Dylan knew this song with The Clancy Brothers versión in 1961 . Joan Baez recorded as well in 1965's 'Farewell Angelina' álbum and together with Dylan during Rolling Thunder Revue performed several times this song , two of them were released recently on The Live recordings Rolling Thunder Revue 1975 . Sorry for the correction but it's a well-known song that have performed a lot of artists as Mark Knopfler , Van Morrison , Ed Sheeran among others .

      One of the only unrequited love stories I'm familiar with where it was unrequited on BOTH sides, simultaneously. SHE was in love & knew it THEN, while it was going on, and HE didn't realize he had been in love until MUCH later, when it was already too late. Sucks. But that's Life & Love. Neither one hangs around forever, just waiting on you to wake up.

      @justliketomthumb427 4 года назад +4

      @@ritahall6628 I'll admit that it's indeed quite possible that Bobby D. may, in fact, actually be a smart robot. It would definitely explain how he survived the 1966 tour, with all the 'medicine' he was ingesting to help 'keep up the pace'. I was only basing that statement on the assumption that he was a real, living, flesh & blood human being & on the fact that he talked about how he was in love w/ Joan without realizing it in Scorsese's excellent documentary, 'No Direction Home'. He says something like "well, you can't be in love AND make good decisions at the same time" in reference to how messy the end of their relationship was. That may have just been an easy out he gave himself to make up for the fact that he was carrying on with both Mimi Farina & Edie Sedgwick simultaneously behind Joan's back. Not to mention the start of his relationship with Sara Lowndes, the future Mrs. Dylan. He was certainly a very busy boy (er, robot). 😎💊🤖

    ShyGuy I had forgotten to mention about this song...Joan and Bobby do a beautiful rendition. I, too, want it played at my funeral, only and emmylou Harris and dick Gaughan... the dobro is haunting.

    A song covered by many a British folk singer-songwriter and guitarist, most notably perhaps the late great Bert Jansch (1943-2011) . ruclips.net/video/Y6kQ2uxkws8/видео.htmlsi=5caOptK3mIE7n06j
    The original lyrics were written by Robert Tannahill, a weaver from Paisley in Scotland. He wrote poems whilst weaving. He took his own life after burning his manuscripts and drowned himself.

    what is the tuning for this one ??? It sounds very low unlike the one where she uses the Capo

    • @shirzevor
      @shirzevor 3 года назад

      Sounds like Bb - (D with Capo 1). I know this as an Irish song.....but the Celts share so much.... and 'folk and traditional' tunes/songs get around.

      @@shirzevor Irish? Only way itd be irish is by plagiarism.
      It was tweaked by an Irishman a collaboration of both countries at best is all the Irish can claim.
      Sorry i really dont mean to sound harsh but it's more a Scottish song as it's where its origins lie.

    They understood Robert Tannahill. They probably did not understand each other: she was a woman, he was a man.
    The art doesn't care. I still prefer Joan's classical rendition. "Will you go, ladie?" - I feel you, ladies, and I'm a man.

    Spontaneous post. It's okay. We met Joanie once in Dallas. EVERYONE who loves Dylan MORE after the Mason expose on Kennedy .... You just GOTTA hear the song it's modeled after; it compares BOB to Matt Dillon. BOB was better, he says.
