@@serendip_id8614 Most of them are broken or all the good ones are taken by bottle diggers. I`m waiting for some storms to hit in the Autumn then we may stand a chance :)

We try and catch the lowest tides, it sometimes takes us a while to get out. And also to find places that haven't been over picked. Glad you enjoy coming along!

I'd like to see a 'Boris cam' attached to his chest harness and then put on fast forward at the end to see all the places he visited on his lark as well.
Love that dog! That one piece of super thick glass at 19:49 looked like the remains of a bottle bottom that had rolled around in the sea for years and years.

The platform is an oil loading loading platform, called Houndpoint terminal. It is fed from Dalmeny tank farm. This is in turn connected to Grangemouth oil refinery which is fed from Sullom Voe oil terminal on Shetland, via the Forties field in the North Sea.
The sandy beach you where you ate your sandwiches on is known in the Ferry as the shell beds, or shellers for short. Great place for catching flat fish on an incoming tide.
The island in the distance is Cramond Island, which can be accessed at low tide from Cramond village.

The inkwell is from Parker Pen in Janesville, Wisconsin ... still in business. More specifically, it looks like a bottle of a product they developed in 1931 called "Quink" - quick drying ink. Even though not many people in the US use fountain pens any longer, Quink is still sold today!

The bottle would have contained milk of magnesia, used to settle acid stomach complaints.
Think the clear jar with the collared neck would be for home made jam.

I do worry about Boris cutting his paws on barnacles, metal or glass shards.

Boris is fine and loves his trips out especially this one as he found the perfect ball also there was a frizby but his barking over that was to much. Please be reassured that we keep a good close eye on him and would never put him a place he could hurt himself. 😊
