Wish I could find as interesting things on my beaches as you do yours, but you have a couple of thousand years of history on your side, not discounting our great indigenous nations, who left very little trace. Truly enjoy your videos
There was a lot of concentrated activity on the two river systems we visit most, and over a very long period of time. Its crazy to think about it sometimes - Macbeth and MacDuff were real folks and they lived and walked where we do! We are very lucky that it gives us a lot to talk about and some really cool finds... I guess these days, as folks begin to turn to indigenous peoples in the Pacific and Americas as good careful custodians of the land, there is much to think about for the future! Hope the sea sends some really great finds your way! :D Thank you so much! xo
Very kind, thank you so much! so glad you enjoy the channel! We've found a few spark plugs recently - mainly the ceramic bits of them. Interesting wee things! Best wishes from Scotland! :D
Hello Craig and Nicole, you always find the best marbles! Thought the gasworks was interesting too seeing nature reclaim the industrial detritus. Have an awesome week, love Josie and Andy 😃 x
Hi guys the round brass cylinder is a spring holder for a wind up clock 🕰.Interesting piece on the old gas producing days. The cave could be interesting as well.Happy birthday 🎂 for the other day Nicole X. Cheers 🇦🇺........
Thank you so much! It was a nice quiet birthday! :D We found a few really cool things, the spring holder is really unusual for us! The cave is one in a system of caves along this coast, we plan to look at them when we can - the other caves, just down the coast, attract a fair bit of attention - we hope to get one of Craig's old colleagues involved as he's something of an expert on these caves. The one in the film is called the gas or gasworks cave. It was blocked off by the gas works for years. Like the other caves, there is evidence that it was occupied and used for many, many years - Picts are known to have been resident in these caves when the Roman's occupied the land on the other side of the river and some of the caves have carvings covering an extended period of influences! We'll be sure to get along to them when we can! Best wishes, many thanks, xo
This video was dear to my heart because I work in the natural gas industry myself. Congratulations on the cool finds! Looking forward to the video with the much older site as well! Beautiful jewelry - I am loving the marble bracelet and the pirate glass bracelet that I bought from your Etsy store. Gorgeous!
That's so cool! So glad you enjoyed it and we touched on a topic close to you - its such an interesting subject! We hope to do a little more on it in the future! We hope to do a collaborative thing on the older site when we can make that happen... The cave is part of a system of several nearby caves that have been used for thousands of years! :D Thank you so much, so glad the jewellery is making you happy! :D Best wishes, Nicole & Craig xo
Thanks so much Margie! There are actually many shipwrecks off that part of the coast... the shores can be dangerous to navigate and even at low tide the waves can be very strong...
Brilliant video with scenery, music and History! Loved the Happy Dance Nicole 😀! Great find with the hatpin bead. It sure inspired some beautiful jewelry Nicole. HAPPY YESTERDAY BIRTHDAY Nicole. 🌹💐 Have a great weekend and stay safe. You two brighten up my days. 💖
So nice to find that hatpin, and the wee marble - it deserved a dance, such a pretty wee thing! :D That's very kind, we are so happy to be able to share a wee bit of joy, light and calm! Hope all is very well, stay safe and well, best wishes, Nicole & Craig xo
We have been so lucky at this place... its wonderfully quiet most of the time too, which is just perfect for an afternoon by the sea! :D The hatpin is such a special find! :D Thank you so much! xo
Very pretty pieces of jewelry but nothing compare to the beautiful land and ocean featured in your videos. So wish I lived in Scotland. It has been my dream for many years.
Thank you so much... yes, you are absolutely right, nature is impossible to beat, and we are so very lucky to live here, surrounded by so much beauty and space! Hope you get a chance to spend as much time in Scotland as your heart desires. Best wishes, xo
Thank you, Nicole and Craig, I really needed the calming sounds of the ocean, one of those weeks! Happy Birthday, Lovely Nicole I wish you good health, happiness and peaceful times. Stay safe and well, Love Dena.x
Oh! So sorry to hear that! So glad to share a half hour of calm with you, and hope next week is far kinder to you. Very many thanks... Craig cooked chicken and cashew - a fave - and we had a nice quiet evening! Stay safe and well, lots of love to you and yours, Nicole & Craig xo
Hello Craig and Nicole! My goodness, here I am under the impression that I had the pleasure of seeing all of your wonderful videos and this one popped up. What a treat to find a video that I hadn't seen before. Wonderful treasures, the sight and sound of the sea, fabulous!!
Aww thanks Sheila! I think we have well over 150 videos out now, so plenty to choose and maybe one or two you haven't seen :) I still have the marble and the hatpin from the day, they were such amazing finds !
Happy belated birthday dear Nicole!😘🥳 Hope you had a wonderful day filled with love and happiness. The magic words did it again😉 I really, really love that humble hat pin. Makes you wonder how old it is, what type of lady used it etcetera. My imagination always starts with items like this. Thank you for taking us on another great adventure. I've enjoyed every minute of it! Big hug from the other side of the North Sea. ❤ xxx
Thank you so much! It was a lovely quiet day, with cake! Happiness and love too! :D Oh! So glad you came along with us, and very glad you enjoyed it! Hope Spring is with you and some warm sunshine with it! Best wishes from across the sea that joins us! :D Best wishes, Nicole and Craig xo
Beautiful marble and hat pin finds, superb blues. Great dance steps Nicole! And Craig, the research on the gasworks was very interesting, particularly the info on how the gas was produced. Look after yourselves. Sue and Ian, Australia
The wee blue marble deserved the dance! Inspired by Snoopy's happy dance! :D Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed the video! :D Stay safe and well, best wishes, Nicole & Craig xo
Great video with some interesting finds, love the hatpin. The music that went with the waves was just right, very peaceful. The jewellery was lovely using the different beads made the pieces beautiful. Take care and stay safe ❤️🇦🇺🦘xxx
It was a great day - the marble and hatpin alone were just awesome finds! Thank you so much, that's one of Craig's guitar pieces over the waves - so glad you enjoyed it! :D Thank you so much, stay safe and well, Best wishes, Nicole & Craig xo
Happy Birthday Nicole!. Loved the video. Everytime, I doze off. LOL It's so relaxing to watch. I jolt awake ad realize I've missed some of the finds and have ro go back and rewatch. LOL. I really liked the blue marble and the hatpin and the history about women using the hatpin as a way to liberation.. Cheers from North Carolina and I can't wait to get my pendant from you. One day I will get up that way and see my ancestral home.
Thank you so much! It was a fab, quiet, day! Haha! Oh! I think that's very complimentary, if we can lull you into a comfy snooze, great! :D haha! Those were really lovely finds and those hatpins - pretty awesome stuff for a humble hatpin! Best wishes from Scotland... hope its not too long before you can make the trip over! :D Best wishes, xo

Hope its not too long before you can visit Scotland again! Until then, we'll keep sharing the wee bits of it we visit! Thank you so much! Glad you enjoy the videos and jewellery making! :D Best wishes! xo
Thanks so much Gerry! There is always a few hours preparation before we film the jewellery making, chosing fittings, drilling and of course then there is the collecting :) Many thanks!!
The jewelry is very pretty, liked the coiled ends for the oblong bead. Did you see the new shoe at Davy Jones locker? Must have gotten scared out of it, LOL. Thanks for sharing your beach walk!
Haha!! We'll have to see if the shoe is still around when we go there next, or if Davy Jones has reclaimed it!! Thank you so much! Best wishes, Nicole & Craig xo
Thanks so much Mary! We didn't find much pottery on this beach but we are so happy with the marble and hat pin :) Pottery is a big passion of ours!! Glad you enjoyed the video ...
What an education - thanks for the insight on gas Craig and how amazing to find a hat pin bead. Crazy they were more than a practical adornment but also a lethal weapon. Gorgeous blue marble Nicole, adding quite a few to your collection.
Thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed it! So surprising to find that hatpin bead and yes, what a bizzare history! So exciting to find these lovely marbles, the sea has been very generous with the marbles recently! And all suc lovely ones too! :D Best wishes, xo
Thank you so much! Very kind! :D We are so lucky to have coastal spots north, south and east of us! :D So glad you enjoy what we're doing! Best wishes, xo
I really enjoyed the the trip on the beach. Favorite thing, if it’s blue I love it. And the hat pin story was the bomb! Never knew that about the hat pin. Beautiful jewelry! Beautiful area.
Thanks so much Denise! We loved finding the marble and hat pin and then finding out about hat pins :) Glad you enjoyed the video and jewellery making....
Hi from Western Australia 👋👋congratulations on your stunning finds, can’t wait to see what the cave thing is about. Hope you had a great birthday Nicole, your jewellery is sooo beautiful and thank you for sharing it. Thank you for sharing this awesome video, you truly don’t know how much I needed it(have been very poorly so watching it a bit late, sorry) you two have made an old lady feel better, thank you. God bless and stay safe and well 🙏🙏🙏🙏🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️
Oh! So sorry to hear that... I hope you are feeling much better now, how awful! We're so glad the video sent a wee bit of cheer to you - big hugs! The caves are fascinating! They have been in use for thousands of years as dwellings, stores, animal husbandry and possibly as ritual spaces too! We know that the Picts (the peoples who live here before the Scots or Scoti) lived in these caves at some point... it is remarkable to think that people looked over the water here when the Romans marched across the land south of here. We hope to do something about the caves quite soon! :D Thank you so much for your kind words, we wish you well - blessings to you and yours, stay safe and healthy! Best wishes, Nicole & Craig xo
@@scottishmudlarking thank you so much, and will definitely be looking forward to seeing your video on the caves, sounds very interesting, well all your videos are awesome especially when history lessons are involved too. Much love and blessings 🙏🙏🙏🥰🥰🥰👍👍👍🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️
We only ever take what we can use or if it fits with a collection - often we make little heaps of things for others to find - we never take more than a small bag with maybe twenty or so thing at the most! But, if you mean, do we take things to leave behind... we have not done that... The areas we tend to look have had a very long history of use, both before and after the industrial revolution, so there is always lots of new things being washed up or coming out from where it was part of al old dump! :D Thank you so much! best wishes, xo
I always learn something from your videos, and enjoy that aspect of them as much as the exciting finds and stunning coastal views. Cheers from St. Augustine, Florida!
That's great, thank you so much! We've always tried to bring a little life into the paces we go - its always amazing to find out a little about someone or something that stood where we wander! :D Best wishes from Sunny Fife, Scotland! xo
Nicole and Craig, I remember reading "the Insidious Dr. Fu Manchu" and I believe the books sometimes mentioned the "Gas Works" along the Thames in London, but they were a common means of energy throughout parts of The British Empire. There are many Refrigerators, stoves and other Camping and mobile travel homes that use gas, but it's generally propane or some natural gas. Steampunk ,indeed, I just saw a steampunk version of a Secret Garden Garden and although clever, just wasn't my thing. You transform glass :larvae" into butterflies! Cheers, Rik Spector
Hello! :D You reminded me of so many old films and Sherlock Holmes stories when you mentioned Fu Manchu and the London Gas Works! Such interesting and evocative places! Although we can't get inside, we went to visit an old Water Works yesterday, we were just driving around and saw this amazing tall red brick building looking nothing like anything around it! The Victorians sure made town and city infrastucture a spectacle! I just looked up the Secret Garden - I'd not heard about that, loved the book and, at least one old film version... Hmmm! I think you're right about this version... Might give that a miss! That's such a lovely description - thank you so much! :D Best wishes, Nicoel & Craig xo
AAAR ! I'm fae East Wemyss or I wis for a wee while born in victoria hospital Kirkcaldy moved and lived in the Wemyss fur a few months moved to Kirkcaldy the rest is history .loved playing on fife's beaches as a kid .
My favourites are of course the marble and the hat pin. I can relate so well to your excitement finding them! Pretty jewellery and a great video, thank you 😊 x
The cave was in one of bestselling crime writer Val McDermid I’m sure the books title was Broken Ground loving your content hope to see you pair one day when I’m at seafield beach with Peanut the Pug
Thanks so much! We haven't been along Buckhaven for a while, but the views are always sooo amazing, especially in the winter! Say hello if you see us :)
Lovely finds! Thanks for pointing out Arthur's Seat across the firth. I've had the pleasure of climbing it both times I've been to Edinburgh, so I got to have an "I know where that is!" moment. I couldn't believe how red the rust was on your iron items. Was it really that incredibly red (instead of orangey) or was that a trick of the camera and lighting?
Oh, that's really cool! We really have to try to point things/places out a little more... Hope its not lng before you get to climb Arthur's Seat again - the views up there are incredible! The rust was a pretty intense colour, deeper in tone than the orangey tone I've seen more often... It looked as if it was still wet, though I can't see that it could have been! Best wishes... we'll have to get over to Arthur's Seat to point the camera the other way! :D xo
Hi! Its called a 'jump ring opener' - we have a link in the description, but I expect it won't help in Canada - you can find them easily on the big auction site, they are very cheap and so incredibly useful! :D Thank you so much! xo
So glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much! The ring is called a "jump ring opener" - we have a link to one on Amazon in our description, though you can find them easily online by searching for that term - it is the most useful thing ever!! :D
It is a wonderful place to spend time, and sadly overlooked most of the time! You're right, there is so much history around this place, we'll be back along for sure and try to fill in wee bits of it when we do! :D Thank you so much! Very best wishes, Nicole & Craig xo Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!

That spark plug looking thing reminds me of a toy baby bottle. Nice to see you out again. Too bad you didn’t pick up the agate.
Thanks so much Dorothy! Yes you are right, I know exactly what you mean with the baby bottle!!! Aww the agate must have slipped us...
The cave by the gasworks is interesting isn’t it.
We haven't been inside the cave yet, but we know it goes back quite a bit. We must remember to bring a light next time and have a look inside. :)
Really enjoying your channel and finding out more about the Fife countryside. Lots of hidden gems (both man-made and natural!) to be found. Thank you.
Thank you so much! Very kind! :D We are so lucky to have coastal spots north, south and east of us! :D So glad you enjoy what we're doing! Best wishes, xo
Gorgeous finds, and as always, a lovely video
Thanks ever so much Phyllis! So very kind of you :)
Thank you so much for your kind words, we wish you well - blessings to you and yours, stay safe and healthy!
Do you ever leave things on the beach for future Mudlarks? Broken glass, or ceramics, glass pebbles, marbles, beads?
We only ever take what we can use or if it fits with a collection - often we make little heaps of things for others to find - we never take more than a small bag with maybe twenty or so thing at the most! But, if you mean, do we take things to leave behind... we have not done that... The areas we tend to look have had a very long history of use, both before and after the industrial revolution, so there is always lots of new things being washed up or coming out from where it was part of al old dump! :D
Thank you so much! best wishes, xo
:D Best wishes from Sunny Fife, Scotland! xo
Nicole and Craig,
I remember reading "the Insidious Dr. Fu Manchu" and I believe the books sometimes mentioned the "Gas Works" along the Thames
in London, but they were a common means of energy throughout parts of The British Empire.
Cheers,
Rik Spector
Best wishes, Nicoel & Craig xo
AAAR ! I'm fae East Wemyss or I wis for a wee while born in victoria hospital Kirkcaldy moved and lived in the Wemyss fur a few months moved to Kirkcaldy the rest is history .loved playing on fife's beaches as a kid .
Oh the beaches would have been quite different then I imagine - very old pictures show that Buckhaven was once a very popular spot! :)
My favourites are of course the marble and the hat pin. I can relate so well to your excitement finding them! Pretty jewellery and a great video, thank you 😊 x
Those are our favourites too Amanda! The hat pin was just as exciting to find as the marble and they were so close to one another on the beach!!
Always happy smiles when you get out!!! Thank you for all you do!!!
Thanks so much Rebecca! We really appreciate your lovely comment :)

Thank you so much! Lovely to meet you! :D xo
Lovely finds and video!!
Thanks so much Catherine :) We were so happy with the marble and hat pin !!
:D xo
What is that ring called that you usually wear on your left thumb? I’ve tried to locate one on Amazon but can’t seem to find one. Thks.... joanne 🇨🇦
Hi! Its called a 'jump ring opener' - we have a link in the description, but I expect it won't help in Canada - you can find them easily on the big auction site, they are very cheap and so incredibly useful! :D Thank you so much! xo
🌴 hello Beate Heinze! Not many pop on chat when it isn't "live chat"!
Thanks so much Linda! We will have a couple of premieres in April :) Hope to see you then!
Oh my nice day on the beach! I have to ask what is that ring tool called when your jewelry making? Very clever indeed!
So glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much!
The ring is called a "jump ring opener" - we have a link to one on Amazon in our description, though you can find them easily online by searching for that term - it is the most useful thing ever!! :D
@@scottishmudlarking oh thanks so much ! I couldn't remember jump ring 🤣
at 8:53 is it an umbrella handle?
Oh! Good idea! It might well be! Thank you so much! xo
