  • In this video I build a cheep bender for RHS (square steel tube) it should be able to bend up to 20mm with a 1.6mm wall but will need to be bolted down with a stronger handle bar before I try that, the former's are available in many sizes so with extra holes the bar will be able to be used on different former's so the cost will not go up by much per size

    If you were to stack two or three same sized plates this idea could bend some pretty thick wall and large diameter tube with a longer leverage bar.
    The bends could be made smaller or bigger depending on what diameter the plate is.
    Brilliant idea. Thanks for sharing this.

    • @juscozcustoms
      @juscozcustoms  3 года назад

      That was exactly the idea behind this bender and using a weight plate. They seem to be available almost anywhere on the planet either new or second hand.
      Also yes with it mounted to something solid and attaching a longer and stronger handle you should be able to bend bigger sections of steel

    Fantastic!
    Round conduit benders start at $30 and just go up and up...
    Just a quick glance online, the cheapest square tube bender I saw started at $230!?!

      This method also allows you to chose the radius of your bend just by using a different weight plate.

    I actually have a project coming up requiring forming a series of nested frames from 25x2 SHS. I typically cut and weld but this simple idea has changed my design. Cheers mate.

    • @juscozcustoms
      @juscozcustoms  11 месяцев назад

      Cool. You will need to grab some different size weights for different size bends for nesting and definitely a larger handle to bend 25x2SHS
      But the best thing would be to mount a post onto the bench for the weights and handle to drop onto instead of using clamps

    Shed Corgi is skeptical, but it looks like a great setup for rectangular tubing. Have you tried it on round tube? My concern is that the narrow bearing shell would dent it. Time to fab up a larger bushing!

      I actually have a ebay/amazon tube bender that cost $200 and does a great job on the round stuff (I did a video on it). I'm going to make another bender that uses both the weight plates for square and the other benders dies for the round it should be a good little project.

    • @juscozcustoms

I will include all the dimensions for how to build that one because it will be made to suit any former you can find up to 25mm/ 1 inch both round or square if all goes to plan
