I love this cause its like two forces fighting against each other. The complete negativity and hopelessness of komm süsser todd and the positive hopeful message of Hey Jude. And in the clash between each other they make something new.
This is literally perfect. These songs connect in so many ways. First off, they're both 7+ mins long where the song part is only 3 minutes and there's a long ass coda at the end. They even use similar chords. I think the first couple are exactly the same. Also, the "na na na na na... hey jude" part has the exact same melody as the "tumbling down" part. They blend almost perfectly. But the lyrics tho, this is where they are just perfect. Paul McCartney wrote this song about Julian Lennon, John Lennon's first child after he was abandoned. He felt immense sympathy for him and wanted to song to encourage him to keep himself open to the world even though his dad had left him... much like Shinji... it's a little worse tho cause Lennon straight up said that Julian was an accident while Gendou did care about Shinji, he just didn't know how to express it. In a way, it almost feels as if Paul is singing to Shinji, trying to encourage him while Shinji is just falling apart mentally. The way they pitch Ariane's vocals make her sound a bit more boyish, emphasizing that it's Shinji speaking. While Shinji is singing about the world ending around him, Paul is trying to get him to let "her" into his heart. This her could be Misato, or Asuka. He's trying to tell him that he doesn't have to be alone, he doesn't have to "carry the weight on his shoulder [...] and let the world get colder". In my head canon, when Paul sings "you made to go and and get her", I imagine he's saying "get hurt" which fits in with the Hedgehog's Dilemma theme. The only way this could get better is if they pitched up McCartney's vocals or at least, made him sound more feminine. Then, the "hey Jude" parts could be from Misato's point of view, the person that became a guardian or parental figure to Shinji, the same thing Paul became for Julian. I love this so much

(Insert cool ass bluesy piano) New context and mini-analysis: The first percussion instrument in both songs is the tambourine. The coda is when the string instruments are introduced. One last verse is played before the coda. Arianne -> Shinji during Third Impact Paul McCartney -> Misato or Lilith/Rei Remember to let her into your heart/The minute you let her under your skin/You were made to go out and get her (hurt) - Hedgehog's Dilemma Don't carry the world upon your shoulder - Shinji is a traumatized teenage God, thus carrying the world upon his shoulders. Is sung when Arianne/Shinji is singing about ending the world By making his world a little colder - All life on Earth is in the black moon and not on earth, making the world colder. Rest of the lyrics are Hey Jude's optimism, hope and motivating words clashing with Komm Süsser Tod's empty, hopeless, depressing and nihilistic lyrics. Hey Jude's lyrics sounds like it's Lilith/Rei encouraging Shinji to get Asuka post-Third Impact and to not repeat what he did before. Komm Süsser Tod's lyrics is Shinji burdened by the past, not listening to Lilith/Rei's encouraging words to go forward. Both song's codas perfectly clash with eachother. Komm Süsser Tod's downward spiral of nihilism clashes with Hey Jude's endless optimism. Hey Jude's coda outlasts Komm Süsser Tod's which I interpret as idealism and hope winning over cynicism and nihilism, meaning the world after End Of Evangelion is a good one with everyone getting a second chance at life... But that's just an analysis, a SONG analysis, thanks for reading!

New context and mini-analysis:
The first percussion instrument in both songs is the tambourine. The coda is when the string instruments are introduced. One last verse is played before the coda.
Arianne -> Shinji during Third Impact
Paul McCartney -> Misato or Lilith/Rei
Remember to let her into your heart/The minute you let her under your skin/You were made to go out and get her (hurt) - Hedgehog's Dilemma
Don't carry the world upon your shoulder - Shinji is a traumatized teenage God, thus carrying the world upon his shoulders. Is sung when Arianne/Shinji is singing about ending the world
By making his world a little colder - All life on Earth is in the black moon and not on earth, making the world colder.
Thank you very much!
Late reply, but hey man thanks for the lyrics.
That must have taken some time this comment section filled with tons of love
Went through the entire RUclips, and this is still the best cover.
This song is so deep and I don’t know why. It makes me feel secret emotions.
Thank you. This is literally what I was thinking when I closely listened to the chords that Komm susser todd is on. Absolute masterpiece 👌🏽
I’ve listened to this no less than twenty times a day for a week.
This combination has stuck with me to the point where it’s like I need it
Ich just sang komm süßer Tod in my head and randomly switched to hey Jude at the end. This is perfectly
5:40 it just syncs so well here what
The title sounds so wrong when you know german...
Agreed
Just call the Grimm Reaper "Jude"
"Hey sweet death"?
@@garethross8890 jude is jew for German I'm pretty sure
@@erinong193 Other way around but yeah, Jude is Jew in German, and brings up some very unfortunate connotations.
The song mashup makes it feel like there's a group of friends who're trying to convince their depressed friend who got through a bad break-up to keep looking for love and he'll find the one soon. Love the vibes I'm getting from the song.
Not quite what I was picturing, but I absolutely heard Hey Jude crossover when I heard Komm Susser Tod for the first time! Nice job for getting it out there!
I have no joke. This is just a really good mashup
Did you just take a sad song and make it better?
Evangelion ost is a fuking masterpiece
That one scene where Ringo is in the hospital made me cry 😭
I was wondering what the connection between "hey jude" and "komm süsser tod" was and after listening to this and reading the comment section I understand
Wow. It would be cool.
Just imagine the third impact, everything does stuff and just these four beatles striding to the nowhere.
With the surge of ai cover videos nowadays, I wish someone would make a beatles cover of komm süsser tod
When these songs got stuck in my head they always meshed together and its so frustrating, but now I am cured.
Evangelion memes are all about introducing a parenthetical (not) in common phrases. I guess the Rebuild series did (not) have a lasting impact on the fans...
Asuka wears red.
Shinji wears blue.
Netflix forgot about Fly Me To The Moon.
almost rhymed, almost got it
MeguMeme Blue and Moon?
can stop spamming this on every Evangelion related video. We get it. Netflix couldn’t get the rights for the song(s). The fandom is up in arms.
Imo, as someone who just got into the series as a result of seeing it on Netflix, I’m not all that bothered by the ‘Netflix’ ending. I know there’s other shit the fandom has gotten butthurt with Netflix about, but for all the people who are going to be able to watch this classic, influential anime, I think the trade off for it being available here in NA is worth it.
RustRoomOfDoom It was always available.
Now imagine a franchise you’ve loved for decades. Now imagine someone bastardizing it for profit. Not imagine being told you should just accept the new version despite it being inferior.
@@CdrChaos "bastardizing" it's just one song at the and that everyone skips, I know you have to be enraged at something, but come on. Also it wasn't available legally

Hey, if you literally translate it, wouldn't it become 'Hey Jude, Sweet Death' ?

The title of this video is «Hey, süsser tod», which would mean «Hey, sweet death»
still can't believe what paul did to that poor glass
Spent about 20 minutes trying to find the obvious title of an iconic beatles song to find this exact video
About to start a second semester of pain, stress, and parental disappointment at college. I’m mentally preparing with doomsday music that slaps
I remember reading somewhere the Anno wanted to have Hey Jude play during instrumentality originally, and it fits considering how much Komm Susser Tod sounds like Hey Jude, this mix only accentuating the fact
Episode 26: The John That Shouted “YOKO” at the Heart of The World/Take Care of Your Kids
It's like these songs were made for each other
It's optimistic cheering up and depressed emotional ventilation basically, like yin and yang. They just carry that similar ethos...

Why is this unironically beautiful? Also, Komm Süsser Tod and Rocket Man need this type of treatment they also sound fucking super similar
I can try to make that mashup for you
Anno originally wanted to use Hey Jude for the Third Impact scene, but didn't bc of obvious copyright issues, so the crew came up with Kom Susser Tod.
This was never stated by Anno or anyone else
Liked this comment just because I like people who lie for no reason
Funny how hey jude was supposed to be the song used, but there were copyright issues so kom susser tod was written to be similar but still different
calacalamari damn is this true? if so,interesting.
@calacalamari Is there a source for this?
Oooooo really/?????
Im not certain this is true but there are definitely intentional references to hey jude in komm susser tod
Give me the sauce or I'll cry
many appreciation points to you because i always get the nanananana bit of both swapped in my head
ty for posting this video man, I could NOT think of what beatles song this sounded like, saved me a lotta time : )
I had the same idea, and I had it at the part where they were like, "Na na na na" in Hey Jude. Good work mate.
Dammit! I had this idea a year too late and this guy beat me to it.
Although this is probably 100x better than one I could make.
Nice work!
this is a song from a jappaneese anime with a german title with American language lyrics remixed to match with a song made in brittian

random person on internet, who had the same thoght of Hey Jude and Komm Süsser Tod, you have done magic
3:40 onwards works perfectly.
Perfect
Honestly Kom susser Tod always reminded me of Hey Jude. Glad to find out I’m not alone
Glad I'm not the only one that saw the potential inspiration. Very Hey Jude sounding.
This song has *always* reminded me of hey Jude. The part that goes Tumbling down tumbling down just has a very similar melody to that of Hey Jude. Often when humming one song I find myself switching to the other midway and viceversa
I’m actually planning to watch the show for the first time once my online classes are finished so I have time to watch the whole series in one sitting. I know literally nothing about the show except for the main theme, this song, theres a giant pacific rim looking robot, and what two characters look like.
so how was it?
tally hall burger mcdonalds official Yes, now I‘m curious aswell. I watched it shortly after quarantine started without knowing anything about the plot.
