Who knew Canon Rock would go so well with Komm susser tod. I thought it was just going to be a rock remix of Komm, but when I heard those familiar first notes, then the mixing in of Komm, I was surprised and happy. Awesome cover.

I’m really just surprised more people haven’t made this connection. Even before I’d even heard of Pachelbel or knew WTF Canon in D was, I thought this song reminded me a *lot* of White Shade of Pale, or the ending themes from Mario 64, SMRPG, and Wario Land 3 (which - surprise - are all Canon variants).
This sounds like the recontextualized happy reprise of the song that would play in the credits after Shinji recognizes that he shouldn't despise himself and the world is worth living in.
