Patrick Ewing scored at will in a 115-110 loss to the Boston Celtics in the 1990 regular Season. Ewing scored a career high 51 points, hauled in 18 rebounds and even picked up a steal. He was 15-19 for 32 first half points as the Knicks built up a big lead early However the Celtics controlled most of the 2nd half to escape with the win. Ewing was abusing Parish and Klein in the paint for some easy looks. However, his teammates all struggled to contribute offensively. This was only a glimpse of how much damage Ewing could do to other centers in the league. Happy 50th Birthday Patrick Ewing!!!! More Ewing to come soon...

Shaq was 300 LBs and the refs let him push other centers under the basket. He's disqualified from all great center comparisons as far as I'm concerned. I'd say Ewing was the best center in the league from 1989-1992. But he did lose a step by mid-90's thanks to those knees taking their toll. Too bad, because while he was in his prime he really didn't have the players around him he needed to win championships.

Shaq dominated at a time when there was a dearth of good centers in the NBA in the early 2000s

What are you, 19? He dominated Shaq until Shaq went to LA in '96 and put on 40 lbs.

of course he could........patrick was 7-0 and pure muscle, but anyway i was talking about fronting, nobody could deny the entry pass to this guy, that was the point.

Ewing scored 51 on all-star center Robert Parish then followed this up with a 41 point performance in the next game.

ewing had better footwork and a better shot/touch than shaq..but shaq's combo of speed size and strength was 1 of a kind

Ewing never had the talent around him in the prime of his career. By the time the Knicks got Allan Houston and Chris Childs, his knees were shot and he had shattered his wrist. It sucks that he never won a championship.

Top 5? Hakeem, Shaq, Wilt, Bill, Kareem, Moses Malone, David Robinson are all better centers.

Bill Walton didn't have a better overall career than Ewing, just a better peak.
