- Great scene that I don't see many people talking about. First time the Colt was used on Supernatural regarding chronological ordering of the episodes.

Can someone please anyone explain the bullet math to me? Because it doesn't make sense. Here's what I mean, John said when the Colt was first made 13 bullets were made along with and that the man that made it fired a half dozen (6) shots all together in his time and then the gun was lost until it was found by the guy the vampires took it from, by that time it should've had 7 shots because he didn't manage to fire one at the vampires. John only fired 1 so that should be 6. However in a later episode when they're going after Azazel John tells Sam and Dean they only have 4 bullets... Huh?! If someone's just gonna chalk this up to "oh bullets were just fired over the years" or something like that, nah I want detailed explanations on this cosmic super pistol.
I believe there are scenes where the Colt is fired and it misses. If that isn't the case, this can simply be chalked up to a continuity error (Supernatural has loads of these), just know they had very few bullets left and the stakes against Azazel were incredibly high.
We can't know how many times Elkins used it or exactly how many bullets were left by the hunter in the legend.
