They couldn’t have cast a better actor than Jeffrey Dean Morgan to be John Winchester. He IS John Winchester. The superb acting and chemistry between Jensen, Jared and Jeffrey really made this show at the start. 5, 3 and 1 - ah my eyes can’t take any more tears 😭
Your note in the beginning is spot on. John was demonized by writers as the seasons went on and by a lot of fans. Even JDM himself said that he didn't like how they were portraying John as the seasons went on (excluding Young John portrayal). Glad there are some fans who understands the character more. Spot on Sam and Dean are his legacy.
No father is perfect and I know John had his moments, but imo he was still a great Dad! If you think about his unfortunate life, it's pretty admirable that he still loved and protected his children in his own way. Especially when he knew about Azazel's plan for Sam, he could have resented Sam (like Max's father did) and chosen to drown in his sorrow but he refused to do so! Despite the circumstances he raised Dean & Sam and taught them how to protect themselves. Again, not perfect, but still.... we can't deny that John is better than most fathers 😭😢
I finally find someone reasonable !! I thought I was the only one who thought the same of John. He really wasn't a bad father. And to be honest, he has been one of the best.
Ah yes because mentally and maybe physically abusing your child and then abandoning him to take care of the favorite is soooooo forgivable and forgettable as long as we know he tried
If you think about it, some people go through something similar to the Winchester boys. Weight not be hunters of the "Supernatural" (😋). But some children's fathers are absent from their kid's lives. As kids and adults Sam and Dean moved around from place to place. Military families do that, too. But I forgive John because despite not being there for them, he still loved them. Even after he died he saved them from Azazel.
Just another example of why this show has such a great fan base. So many eppisodes that touches our hearts as the brothers deal with battling the evil forces and demons on a daily basis. And this brings tears to our eyes knowing the love and devotion within family. 👍👍👍👍👍 Five thumbs up!!!
I do believe he realised it was real by the time he escaped hell, which is maybe why he smiled at the sam and dean the way he did, knowing in the future they'll be fine
A lot of people hate and demonize john but if they had gone through the same experience as john did in the pilot episode they would be a drunk mess not even a stable member of society. He didn't give in to the fear and craziness of the supernatural world he fought back, became one of the best hunters and made his boys the men they are today, you can say bobby was like a father to them which is true but after john and bobby had a discussion the boys never saw bobby again so john is the one that give them the most training and morals. "My job is not to be liked son, my job is to raise you right" - John Winchester
Ok you got me bawling my eyes out! They all make cry but more #8 and#1. When I watch reruns on tv and show these I try not to cry but can't help myself. Bye for now Christine.
I am commenting after crying for good half an hour... the last scene was same when my father died. My father eyes was same as JDMorgan .. there were lots and lots of emotions involved when i was crying ..
I don't get the JW hate. He was underused, JDM brought such an emotional edge to the show. Seasons 1-5 the real Supernatural. Still a good show but after Kripke left the writers went overboard with fan service and biblical mythology, the Leviathans storyline was horrible and made me lose interest fast. Same with Kevin and the tablets. If/when they reboot hopefully they get back to the roots of what made the show great. Saving people, hunting things, the family business.
Ok I’m crying 😭 I loved that episode that was #8. But #1 was the best. John was a great father in my opinion. He did the best he could. Thanks Wayward Winchester! Great video. And thanks for the edit on John Winchester!! ♥️🥰♥️
If you want to read a powerful exploration of John's mindset after Mary died and how that impacted Dean, read Broken Road by thegeminisage on ao3 - it's a beautiful rewrite of Lebanon and my favourite supernatural story ever.
"John has been demonised by recent writers" Couldn't agree more. It's like the S9 episode where Sam and Dean visit a boys correctional home Dean was at for a time with that guy sonny. It's a pretty solid episode but they make John out to be a real piece of work and that downgrades it for me. He did the best he could with what he knew damn it! If you think about it John taking back control from the strongest or equally strongest Prince of Hell (Azazel) could have been more inspiration for Sam taking back control from Lu. But Bobby took back control from that Demon closer to those events so naturally that's where Sam got the idea in S5 Fantastic Compilation, bro 👏Now excuse me while I have a big chick flick moment 😭😭
Ahhhh Damm it Leo! The Onion Ninjas Attacks on My Eyes😂❤ Na Brother Thanks for a another great edit video of greatness👍 Yup I'm in that to I Unyielding rage when fan's say John was horrible father I Feel like reaching in the Tv and Internet world and choking fools! Also Jeffrey in Real Life is a Legendary Nice guy lol who has no problem hugging a Grownup Man and saying "Thanks for Support Me" 😂👊
This was absolutely beautiful video. I absolutely love John Winchester I never hated him. He was a good man how lost his wife and he just wanted to protect his sons from the Dark Forces of The outside world. Jeffery Dean Morgan did a Phenomenal Performance showing The Loving Father and Husband John Winchester truly is while showing The Demons that have haunted John . John Winchester wasn’t the perfect father but he truly did love his Sons.
I like that John Winchester spirit doesn't talk because he's dead of course but you can tell he's happy and proud of his sons 😢 by simply tearing up 😢😢😢😢😢😢 tears of joy probably letting Dean know he's ok
It's fairly easy to criticize John and label him a bad father; but it has to be taken into account what led to him being an extremely harsh father in the first place to his children and that was the despicable actions of the yellow eyed demon, I mean take a moment and picture it if you will, if you had seen someone you loved and had children by pinned up to the ceiling and then burst into flames before your very eyes that would scar you and screw your mind up for life too, Therefore it's fair to say that John Winchester was robbed of any chance of being a good father to his kids the moment that happened; the moment the Realm of the supernatural came into his life and essentially took everything from him, which left no other choice but to have a strike back response, For it was in that instance that he went from being private citizen, loving, caring husband and father John to being a kickass Marine soldier and Drill instructor John who was (no pun intended) hell-bent on making his sons strong, powerful fighters for a war that was not his own making, that he did not ask for and did not want any part of until it came into his life and shattered it to a million pieces, a war that irrevocably changed and damaged him beyond repair, He didn't want that life for his sons but he felt he had no choice except to prepare them for it in any way possible, no matter how harsh his tactics were, If he had somehow fallen or stumbled into it, the way his alternative reality version did and turned it into a sort of private militia agency group called huntercorp I'm pretty certain that Dean and Sam's childhood would have been drastically different, possibly a little bit happier the way their alternate versions were but that was certainly not the case, he was forcibly thrusted into warrior mode and was kept there due to the despicable actions of the Yellow-eyed demon, therefore YED should ultimately be blamed for EVERYTHING the winchester brothers have been through, that their own father put upon them and why john was never able to live up to his potential in becoming the very best dad he could have been. 🙄😔😁😉😎🔥💯👍🏻
O yeah hello gorgeous and beautiful ❤️ how are you John ❤ I hope you okay and yes I loved the showe but it was heart braking to at times and I cried for first to last but I liked it very well ❤ yeah it broke my heart every time i sow Sam and Dean cry ❤ My heart is still hurts ❤i sow you cry to John ❤ and yes it broke my heart ❤️ do please take care okay i love you all very much ❤ from the country girl lol love you always and forever my brother Dean and Sam and my friend John ❤❤❤I love y'all

You should see a picture of JDM when he’s young and Jensen at the same age. The facial expressions are so similar it’s eerie and physically they look very similar.
If they were determined to go down another sibling route for the boys, I think it might have worked a little better if they made it a sister instead of another brother. And John had found a way to name the sister Mary after his first and true love. As Sam said when they found out about Adam, he wasn’t exactly a monk so fans probably guessed he wasn’t celibate. It would have been interesting to see how Sam and Dean responded to a sister who was named after their mother too.
He made me cry by confusing Dean. HE made it seem that Sam was more important. Dean tried to get his love by doing everything his father said. Also he probably was roughed up on occasion 😢
