Fix Your Slouching Posture!

  • If you're consistently trying to stand with straighter posture but slouch when you forget or get tired, try Wall Slides!
It's a simple way to improve shoulder mobility, strengthen our posterior chain, and stretch our anterior chain.
Note that there are many possible causes for poor posture. For example, you may have some muscular imbalances that require more condition-specific stretches. Wall slides may or may not help you with this.
However, learning to do this exercise with good form can work as a good mobility benchmark for healthy humans, so it may still be worth your time to learn!

Note: there are many possible causes for poor posture. For example, you may have some muscular imbalances that require more specific work to undo. Wall slides helped me, but may or may not help you. If possible, you're welcome to consult with a doctor or physical therapist to work with you on your posture.

I have not a single wall in my house where I can do this like you here, which is why I do it lying on the ground and lifting my legs up in a 90° angle so that my back and shoulders are flat on the ground. Is that okay or do I have to be standing up for the exercise to work?

The '15 Repetitions Morning & Night' protocol seems like a small detail. With strength exercises, people know about lower reps for strength and higher reps for size, but often with mobility drills such as these, you find yourself asking, "Am I not doing enough? Am I doing too much?" So that small detail is really helpful!

My PT gave this exercise to me a while back and despite doing it just about every day for the last 3 months - I can't do it with my elbows touching the wall. even if i take a few steps out. When my elbows get to my ears height, i either have to stop or lift my elbows off the wall to complete the full range.
