Suddenly I'm not in me living room in Cornwall but transported back to 1968 as a bairn in Jackie whites with me nana & me man ,god rest them,eating ibbotsons pork dips,I can smell them now..Long live Jackie whites .Thanks for the memories.
Whenever I return to Sunderland I go to jacky whites even went there as a bairn always happy to know it’s thriving 😊

Great memories of JW in the 80's - 90's when i found myself living in Sunderland for 5 years, now some 32 years later this video brought it all back to me, many thanks for posting.
Nice too see Lorraine , I knew her as a little girl visiting her nanna , still as chirpy as ever! I remember Atkinsons records where you could buy chart singles and my favourite was the magazine shop where I would buy my ‘Monster magazines ‘ 🙂
That Jacky Whites is nowt like the old one. It was a bit minging but it was a lovely place. You could buy all sorts. The cafe was a special treat. A plate of chips and a glass of still orange Happy days.
Must visit Jacky Whites again. Used to visit regularly ❤
My aunt worked at a shoe shop there. I remember the fish smell from the 1960s. Lots of lovely memories. What a great gang of people, keep doing what you do.
Visited yesterday,always great special,warm service, particularly the Hardwear unit and the jewellery and fine goods unit.10/10

Very true about watch batteries, I made the mistake of popping into a Jewellers opposite Debenhams, the cheeky wanted £20 and when I said I will think about it, he said "It will be same next time". Admittedly my watch is Casio which cost about £16 so I was presumably not the calibre of customer he was interested in. Jacky Whites is tucked into a corner so it not that Noticeable. I went in the first time and I didn't realise how much was there.
More people would go to Jackie Whites and other parts of Sunderland City centre shopping centre if the council reduced or scrapped the car parking charges.

I remember the miserable, depressing, pedestrianised, mid-century shopping area, but I don't recall Jacky White's.

Jacky whites , most Saturdays ibbitsons for a savaloy dip , top of bun dipped in gravy , yummy!
