    Come on, respect the lyrics even if you're an atheist!
    The song is about Jesus & John The Apostle, and you changed Jesus to "my love"! The whole song became lost!
    Beautiful arrangement btw.

      Seetha Golden the lyrics are beautifully ambiguous, it doesn’t have to be about jesus. It can be interpreted as sufjan recounting a past love or encounter with a male partner :)

      @@Blubberloverforever No. This song is about the last moment Sufjan had to endure before his mother died, and he tied it with the last moment Apostle John spent with Jesus before he died. The biblical reference is Sufjan's uniqueness in songwriting. If you wipe it off, it will become empty words.

      It's both a biblical reference and same love reference. And interpreting the song either way doesn't disrespect the song
