Welcome and thanks for watching! We would love that too! However, we have not figured out what the problem is. It definitely gets enough wind but we’re missing something. Thankfully we are not dependent on it. The solar panel system is working beautifully. Let us know what you’d like to see on the channel. We’re still learning as we go and you guys help us with ideas.
I have been looking into wind for a few years. I have learned alot from a youtuber named John Daniel. He used to do alot of videos on wind turbines, smart dude! From what i can see the charge controller makes a huge difference! Also look into wind sheer for using the slope of a roof to capture and accelerate the wind. If you move it to the side of the building you could mount it to the building with electrical conduit 2 hole straps.
Thank you for all that!! We will keep doing research and check out that channel. We’d really like to have it working. We get sooo much wind up here it’s a shame not to take advantage of it.
@@peppershacklife from what I have read lithium battery's bms do not like wind power, have to use a lead acid as a slave battery. Also not all wind turbines are created equal, that has as much to do with of it as anything. John explains it all
Hello.. Love your smile. I have a pair of 400w wind turbines to be installed.. But I'm gonna mount them on some galvanized pipe in a "field goal" style about 50' up a tree.. But need to rent a lift and my truck has been in the shop. I already have a descent solar system here.. four 100Ah BB lithiums, 1st array: 1600w 2nd array (soon) six 290w panels, victron 150\100 and 150\45, Lynx 1000 distributor, CERBO w\touch 50 and a Multiplus 12 3000 120 (yet to be installed).. and saving to buy some land and go offgrid.
Sorry I wrote the text before I saw your update. You should see a difference in your turbine now that's hooked up to a 12 volt system. Jeff I have that same solar controller it was meant to control a 45 watt system. You said it going to be hooked up to 100 watt solar. I don't know if it will handle 100 watt panel. Maybe two 25 watt panels will be ok.
Just remember that the turbine is rated at it's max power during it's max rated wind speed. At lower wind speeds you'll see a much lower output from it. It would be better, even though you're on a mountain, to mount the turbine higher in the air.
At the 1:00 mark - every review or video of using a wind turbine includes the words, "trying to make it work better for us". Most of these stories end with "installed more solar panels and got rid of the noisy waste of time from the wind turbine".
If your wind controller accommodates 12-volt charging, then you can get more lower wind charging, than using a 24-volt or 48-volt charger. Also, you have a wind controller on your Midnight Classic controller and it is likely a high quality MPPT controller that can provide greater output than the controller you are presently using. Your current controller likely doesn't have MPPT capacity.
Thanks for that info! You’re right, a better charge controller would help with the output and the midnite classic is capable of running wind, solar and hydro but only one at a time. I’d have to get a second one for the wind and they’re so expensive. -Jeff
Hi Jeff, I believe that the Midnight Classic controller is a hybrid controller and can handle wind and solar at the same time. However hybrid controllers do place a limit on the amount of solar permitted, when running in the hybrid mode.
Hey you guys I'm not so sure I would go to much higher with your turbine. The wind coming up that hillside causes compression of the wind. Something to think about. John
Hey John! It’s not working at all. But we honestly haven’t really worked on it any more. There’s been other things demanding our time and attention. We hope to save up and get a better quality unit. It would help us so much in the fall/winter. Thank you for checking in!

Hi y'all thank you so much for the video and the time you take to make these videos
Thank you for watching. Hope to be back soon.
first time viewer, love the offgrid, looking forward to seeing the wind turbine making some power

Can't wait to see your next update about your turbin
Thank you for your video I got me a couple small 24-volt generators to try to rig up a vawt keep up the good work please
Thank you so much! We are learning as we go
I’m looking forward to seeing the results, keep us posted on the eggs also, Good video as always!
Absolutely!! Thank you so much!!
Good job again!!! I enjoy the 'technical' aspect of it. Very interesting. Beautiful mountain, similar to the mountain we are on. Have a good week.
😂You are awesome! Thank you!!

Yeah I feel that. Ours is pretty much a yard ornament at this point.

You need to go up at least another 10 feet anyway, getting it up away from the house. It looks like the trees may be giving you interference. too.
cool yea all
i had a aims inverter it use alot of power just being on
It is said that Purina chicken feed is resulting in a drop in egg production!!
Crazy stuff! I have heard that too. We don’t use it thankfully.
John here, I was just wondering how your wind turbine is working out for you

Just remember 3 blades spin faster than 5 blades.
HEY!!!!!
Well hey there dear friend!!!
A 3 blade turbine will spin faster than a 5 blade.

He almost did exactly that 😂 Lesson learned for sure! Thanks so much!
