The second method with the paperclip that the person's grandma taught them is the coolest, that's like some great depression era wisdom
Thanks paper clip lady...grandmas are the best!
The straw method is the BEST. The cherry stem is where the pit is attached to the fruit. Once you have broken that bond the pit comes right out. Insert a straw into the cherry at the stem dimple. Cap the end of the straw with your thumb if the fruit is firm. Push the straw through the fruit and the pit will pop out the bottom neatly leaving the cherry whole with no waste. There is no spray mess like with the pitter either. After using the pitter, I realized all I needed was a straw.
11 years later thank you kathee
I like this method too but for large batches it takes way to long for me
Same here!
Thank your Grandma!!!! The paperclip 📎 hack. What a genius mind!
A vegetable peeler works, the kind with a point, point it into cherry, turn, and out comes the pit!
Omg! I’m going to try this!
The paper clip method is awesome!!
I don’t even know why they wasted time with the other ones lol
I had no idea youtube was around 14yrs ago. But yay for this cherry pitting tutorial! Paperclip and cherry pitter sounds great. Thank you!!
Oh my goodness, the paperclip! 😱 I'm in shock! Will definitely be doing this, until I have time to invest in a pitter 😁
I just found another way that is great and easy. Use a chopstick, take out the stem and the chopstick will fit right into the hole. You can also put it on top of a bottle and poke a chopstick through seed will fall into the bottle.
Logos tell a different story
That paper clip method is brilliant. I'm going to use it now. Simple is so often the best. Thanks.
I agree.
It's easy to spit out the pit, but if you're actually cooking with the cherries it's considerate not to get your spit all over each cherry lol. :P
jus when u want to bite it and enjoy its harder and ruins the good feeling imho like berries etcc!
@@Poetry4Peace yea im just tryna eat my cherries with out having to spit it out over and over
I wish the camera was focusing on pitting cherries. I can barely see what exactly they were doing
Yes the paper clip method is hard to see
The cutting with a paring knife is SO easy!! Thanks for the tip 13 years later ❤❤
14 years later, shout out paperclip grandma's wisdom.
The paper clip method was genius!! Love it!! Thanks for the tip.
Thank you CJs grandma!
But there should have been a close up.
Agree.
It’s not working for me :(
I used a hard straw (from a tumbler) and it worked great!
I watched a video where they used a chopstick and a narrow neck bottle but the pits stuck to the cherries and refused to fall off the end
Gosh, we've got some really creative people here.
@@suave-rider didn't rifraf help to help the situation?
@@suave-rider just tried it and it didn’t work for me either, maybe the hard straw will work?
The paperclip method is awesome!!! Quick, easy and clean. Thanks CJ!!!
Hi
Get a chop stix or a small dowl rod and then a bottle with a small mouth like a pop bottle or water bottle. Set the cherry on the top of the bottle with the stem side up. Stem removed of course. Then you just push your stick straight down through the cherry and the pit falls into the bottle. Works like a charm.
Thank you!!
Oh, my gosh ! Thank all of you for this demonstration ! When I visited my sister a while back she had some great Bing cherries which I love. At snack time we sat down at the dinner table with the cherries and I proceed to pop a cherry in my mouth and spit the seed in a bowl, Lord you would have thought I killed a baby, my sister got all over me for doing that, saying it was basically disgusting, and doing that was rude and other people wouldn't appreciate seeing that, which it was only myself and my sister present. So next time I talk with her I'll give her the lowdown. She never told me how I should have eaten the cherries, I wanted to see her cut one with a knife, but I just let it pass. Thank you all for your demonstrations and all of them were great and creative.
The paper clip was perfect! wow! I don’t hv a pitter.
my favourite way is to put it in my mouth, eath the fruit and spit out the pit
boomshine7 - that doesn't work if you want to freeze them for later use
boomshine, yeah, baby that's what I'm talking about.
@@nicholejones3876 freezing fresh fruit? no thx
@@nicholejones3876 in that case you just reverse it, you swallow the pit spit the cherry out into the freezer.
My favorite method is to put it in my mouth, eat the pit and spit out the fruit
Since I do not have a cherry pitter and I am canning I am thumbs up on the paper clip!!
I tried the first method, and it worked great. Thanks!
With the pie cherries on my tree I just pull the stem and squeeze slightly and the seed will come out with the stem. Works most of the time
I love CJ's technic 👍👍👍
I like the paper clip or the pitter. They are the quickest and I have a bucket to pit!!
Definitely the paper clip!
Thanks
I love your grandma's way CJ! 5 stars!
Thanks for all the great ways to put a cherry. Going to try the chopstick method. Looks less messy than the rest. 👍
Paper clip. Thanks for the tip. Awesome.
Best advice in the world. Sure solved my problem!
Forsure the 2nd technique... with the safety pin ... worked really well... fast for large quantity... thank you
Pitter makes for the prettiest, whole cherries.
Using the paper clip is a lot faster yay! Thank you so much.
forceps with a slight angle on them slide it in (sounds all dirty I know) grab the seed, and slide it out, can be done with the stem on on off it's not picky at all. perfect and beautiful and genius if I do say so myself.
Thank you!! I used hemostats and they pulled out those pits like bullets from a soprano!
Very nice i prefet second one its very simple method to pit cherry
wow! you save my day! thanks! love the paper clip method!! :)
Very nice, thanks!
What a great idea - asking for four different ways to do it...BTW, I think I prefer the paper clip!
Paper clip method is genius!
Getting the biggest chef knife I've got. Then placing 10 cherries in 1 line. Placing the knife on top of them to squash them and pressing slowly until you're stopped by the pits. Then pushing the pit out for each cherry. They still look pretty good and it's relatively fast.
He'll yeaha brother how big is your chefs knife I'm really attracted to those with knives of about 11-13 inches in length
Oh, so you can take a knife, cut each cherry open, and remove each pit? I would never have thought of that! Um, isn't the entire reason we are all looking for ways to pit a cherry that we don't want to have to do it in that time-consuming, laborious way?!
melizma tea might just be for people who didn't think to do that?
I never thought about the first method of just smashing the cherry, but now idk how I didn't think of that before. xD
Agree
Find a hobby.
Yeah I came here for a way to actually make it worth my time. I have hundreds of pounds of cherries. Thanks for showing me how to use 40+ hrs to process them. Totally useful info in countries where slavery is a thing.
Fuckin poke it out with a straw
Paper clip method is the only one you needed to show.
The paper clip was ingenious!
Disassembled Bic Pen just use the tube portion. Easy peazy!
The paper clip and the pitter😏
I discovered that my cherry/olive pitter will work without slicing off the stems, which is nice because it lets me pit four at a time so I can do a couple of pounds in just a few minutes with no mess at all.
I use a metal straw and push through the center. Pit pops right out and the cherries hold their shape. Quite fast, too!
CJ is the best!
i have a cherry pitter :D totally worth it!!!!
I own a cherry pitter but I need a way to remove the pits while keeping the stem on. I use the stem for dipping the cherries.
What in the hocus pocus did I just watch with the paper clip?! I need to test this out.
i just did this last night for the first time. Nine pounds took about an hour with no mess. Take a pair of small sewing scissors 2 inches or less, insert bottom or top grasp the seed with the blades give it a quarter twist and a clean seed pulls right out! Very clean method that leaves the fruit intact. If you need halves it is simple to cut. This will also work for olives.
I have to put a ton of cherries Saturday at Kroger's for samples but they have to be pretty so I will probably use the paperclip method All they gave us was a pointed chopstick made out of metal
We used bobby-pins growing up similar to the paper clip method.
i use a strong straw
like the ones for smoothies
pop it down the middle
The garlic smashy thing felt bad in my heart. It felt like seeing murder with the way the cherrys flesh and juice splattered tragically on the chopping board... RIP cherry
paper clip for sure! It's free!!!!!
Paperclip 👍 thanks 😊
I do it but cherry does not broken properly ...so what can I do
I use a pitter.....love the way the cherry looks when I am done....but I must say that if I am just going to eat them as a snack it the old fashioned way, eat and spit out the seed. :)
Cherry pit lives matter!
paper clip is awesome....
however, if the cherries aren't quite ripe the garlic method works the best....
Paper clip didn't work for me, the the garlic option worked great. But it feels a lot like murdering cherries - cherry juice *everywhere*!
Rebecca, thank you for the tip, cherry juice is very difficult to get out.
Just used an upturned Small metal funnel, set on cutting board
Grandma definitely wins
My favorite way is putting the cherry in my mouth and spitting out the pit! 😂
That's great for personal consumption but not for use in cooking and adding to mixed drinks
@@michaelmerck7576 HAHAHAHA IMAGINE!???? Lmao.
#3 was an extraordinarily lengthy process
I vote for the paper clip Genius!
the paperclip sold me
I need that cherry pitter
Second method: Nice one.
Metal work is free? What country do you live in?
Thanks, you made our twin peaks night fab!!!
well i bought some cherries and i never had ones with seeds so i just pinched the cherry so the seed came out..it was mesy so i guess if i ever try it again i would go outside to do it
hahaha ... The first girl with that big knife, almost killed the cherry!! That was hilarious... I can't stop laughing :))))
I use the paperclip method, but I use a toothpick instead.
Garlic press one works best except
I push it lightly on both sides to loose less juice and the pit comes out!
cherry pitter by ten fold
@rhitland im using mine for a recipe so i rather not have them in my mouth then feed them to other people
Would have loved to continue listening to you but I could barely hear you my phone was turned up high but I would have loved to know about to cherries please check sound system and have a good weekend
We find the best way is with small wire hair grip just take off stork off in cert twist and out pops the pip .and we dry the pips and great on fire in winter
Okay, let me correct some of that

With a Straw! And the Cherry on top of a Bottle! The Seed falls in the bottle and the Cherry stays between of your fingers! Very Easy!
The Cherry pitter
The cherry pitter looks like the most efficient..second would be the paper clip
My favorite way is to use a banana to pit the cherry. It's easy! All you need is liquid nitrogen and BAM! entropy!
I found the best method was just to use my fingers to split the cherry then pry apart the cherry pit out of the fruit. Much quicker a lot less fuss.
Paper clip and the cherry pit
you dont have a knife and a cutting board?
#1 Cherry pitter & #2 paper clip
paper clip is such a good trick lol it works
Johnny is that you???
I used a pitter and it made a hole but missed the pit, tried it again and it happened again. I'll go with the knife method.
Back when people actually looked decent and weren't cringy on the internet
My favorite is paper clip method sincewe dont have cherry piter😝😂
Yeah the hold puncher works best. Not to say that the avocado method didn't look interesting.
loooool
An empty beer/pop bottle and a chopstick.
Dan my man ❤👬🔥😍💞
