Hail Viking! I think you're tired. This 24-day Advent challenge is no easy task. But I look forward to it every day. Today's choice was really fun. Singing acapella with a little humor. I liked it. :D

They did a FANTASTIC job with it! Dr. Seuss was always up to the challenge when it came to making something "grinchy" be something to be laughed at. I think that's one of the main reasons the silly "woke" people wanted to take ALL of the Dr. Seuss books off the library shelves! I don't know if you even have them on your library shelves where you are, but if you do (and you haven't before), you should check into them. They are ALL just fantastic and funny...though most of them have some very serious points. 😀
Thanks for the great reaction. I hope you have gotten some very good, solid REST! HUGS!

Great reaction! Adriana Arellano has performed with VP quite a few times since they invited her to make a video with them for her 15th birthday ( Frozen 2 Medley)

Love this one and all from VoicePlay! I think I already mentioned it but their version of Christmas Don’t Be Late is also fantastic! ❤

Geoff has some good Xmas songs on his solo channel as well. Dreaming of a white xmas; God rest ye merry gentleman.

Makeup and Creative Arts was responsible for the makeup for this video. They were also responsible for the Who and Grinch makeup at Universal Studios Orlando at the time. The Grinch was performed by a professional Grinch actor, but his identity is a secret (he's really good at it and has been doing the character for years)

The Grinch voiceover was Eli. Who the Grinch was VoicePlay still keep totally secret.
For a metal Grinch, Tommy J did a good one last year, together with bandmates from Majestica, in his Christmas Calendar.
If you enjoy deep bass Elliott Robinson did his own continuation of this The Grinch rebuttal: Not So Mean a Grinch, which is both hilarious and full of velvety bass.

Voiceplay's music is recorded before they do the video. The music did not interfere with the music, but did interfere with their ability to make the video look just right. It was especially hard for Layne, the beatboxer.
    Great reaction!!

(he meant "the make up did not interfere" i guess)

VoicePlay arrangements are unique and yes, recognisable. Some can tell which are Geoff's and which are Layne's but I'm not that good yet. And of course Eli does some too. But they do have a distinctive sound. Adriana is very young, I think 16 when she first sang with VP, and also oined them on Frozen 2 and We're Good.

This is my favorite version of the song, narrowly beating out the original from the first animated Christmas special (sung by Thurl Ravenscroft). There are 2 other really good covers on RUclips, though, if you want to compare. The first is by Smalltown Titans (hard to describe, but lots of metal technique in the vocals), and a version by Bobby Bass.

The dirty bass is also called vocal fry. Geoff does story narrative and he did Monster Mash as well!! AWESOME group!!

Might I suggest the version Small Town Titans did of this? It’s BANANAS.
Merry Christmas. 🎄 Loving the calendar.

If you want more of their humour, I recommend VoicePlay’s ”Mission: Jingle Bells” and ”Wookiee for Christmas”.

That last note at E1 is like a Geoff standard at this point, so well done. However, even lower than that was his note at 5:30 when he drops the octave. That note is a D#1 which is 1 note lower than his E1 he hits at the end! Amazing!

These guys are definitely the Drama Dept of the a capella world! And I love them! ❤
I think Adriana is the niece of one of the Voice Play members! Talent apparently runs in some families. 😊

Just to point out the evident, Eli's present is "Max's stinkee poo poo" at 5:21
and then later Max (Lane) makes an appearance at 6:15.
I really hope it was just props in the bag 😁

That whole video is just so much fun, and they really got into the whole Whoville characters!
While Eli provided the voice for the Grinch (yet another example of his voice-acting skills!), VoicePlay has never said who the person in the Grinch makeup was. There's a rumor that it was someone from one of the amusement parks in the Orlando area Disney , since I believe they own the rights to the character and they have proprietary makeup they use for it, and the actors are never supposed to appear outside the park in that makeup.
