I created Engineering Explained on June 24, 2011, having no idea where this channel would end up. I'm happy, proud, and grateful to have surpassed 3 million subscribers, 10 years later, as a result of making weekly videos about how cars work.
Engineering Explained really has covered it all! Head to my main channel page and checkout my playlists for topics like tires, wheels, brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, differentials, transmissions, engines, electric cars, batteries, electric motors, alternative fuels, car reviews, weird stuff, unique features, and driving all kinds of different cars.
The channel has had a fun group of cars!
    - 1999 Acura Integra, did a lot of fun stuff with it, and it was stolen.
    - 2014 Subaru WRX STI hatch. I love the way it looks, I love it on paper, the AWD system.
    - 2002 Honda S2000, did about 40 videos with, really cool series.
    - 2016 Subaru Crosstrek, the greatest car of all time. Longest I’ve owned a new car.
    - 2018 Tesla Model 3 Mid-Range. Had it for two weeks, quickly got rid of it.
    - 2018 Tesla Model 3 Performance, still have, absolutely love it, best daily.
    - 2016 Mazda MX-5, sold my S2000 and bought another S2000 and supercharged it.
Regarding the garage, I don’t know what’s next! Genuinely love my three car setup. Two manuals, one electric, one supercharged, one NA. One with ground clearance, two without. Two AWD, one RWD.

Hello all! Thank you for watching. As many have pointed out, the car I'm inside of is an MX-5, not an S2000. When I bought another two door, manual, supercharged, yellow convertible, a lot of folks said I just bought the same thing haha. As a nod to those comments, I called it an S2000 in this video. My jokes are often two things: delivered with a straight face, and bad.

A fair amount of the time you are just talking and driving at the same time, so the background whooshing by has nothing to do with what you are saying. But, they watch it anyway, like I just did. Congratulations on being able to earn a living doing what you like to do, not what you have to do. You are a winner! 👍🏼

    Jason,
Your videos were like treasure to me through high school. As I went from just wanting my license, to wanting my first car, to seriously getting into cars, I've learned so much here. Few other channels have the analytical, math based approach you do, while explaining things intuitively at the same time, which was one of the reasons I gravitated so heavily to your videos. And thanks to you, I ultimately decided to pursue a mechanical engineering degree.
So thanks for everything, and congratulations on ten years. We're all looking forward to what's next!

    This is huge!!!
And I will also say and admit that I AM an automotive engineer myself as well and I work at one of the automotive OEMs in the SE Michigan area (albeit I'm working from home now, like so many other people, due to COVID), and just the other week when you posted the video about rev lag - that was something that I had NOT previously paid much attention to nor about, but it makes total sense to me.
(I was in a meeting earlier today when they were talking about that actually.)
There's a LOT to learn about automotive engineering, so it's always fun to learn from a fellow engineer.

Congrats, Jason! Your channel remains to this day one of the most consistently entertaining and valuable sources of car content on RUclips! 10 years is even more commendable than 3 million subs as it really shows your tenacity as a creator.
It's funny how people from so many different walks of life can share so many experiences. I came from engineering into RUclips, I remember crying when Paul Walker died, I've spent countless hours trying to figure out and adapt to the ever changing RUclips algorithm, I've made sacrifices of time that have been both worth it and painfully not worth it, all in the sake of creating car content. Watching you speak about the same things is so wonderfully refreshing, and I appreciate the hell out of you for it.
Here's to many more years of doing what you enjoy, and overcoming the obstacles there may be along the way!
