  • @navoff1

    I only wished it worked as easily as it appears in the video. Despite following all the suggestions (and ensuring I had the right kind of mat for my machine), I was unable to get my Silhouette Cameo to recognize the registration marks on a brand new PixScan mat. I double checked that there was nothing outside the cut areas and tried reshooting the mat with my stamped image with my phone multiple times but it never recognized the registration marks. I even used the calibration image to make sure that the system recognized the image from my phone. The software understood what I wanted to cut, but the machine never did. I finally tossed the PixScan mat and decided it wasn't worth the hassle. I guess I should have known better. I'd heard from a lot of folks who said that the Silhouette PixScan was difficult to work with. They all said that the Brother Scan N Cut works MUCH better. Looks like they were right. Lesson learned. Thankfully I only threw away $13 for a useless mat.

    I have a now dead Scan N Cut. I'm thinking of replacing it with a new machine, possibly a different machine, simply because I feel Brother did not help me well when my machine broke down, there are no repair places within over 2 hour drive from me and they were not willing to have me send it to them and repair it themselves. So I am left with a dead machine I have used well, not even enough to fully go through one mat. The one I have does not do vinyl or other items other than material and paper. I've considered the DX, but again, i'm not ovferly happy with Brother, so hesitant to do so, and their price is extremely high. I am primarily a card maker. Although I would like to do some things with vinyl.
    What I'd like to know is how long does the pixscan mat last? How often do you have to replace it? Also, can you pre-color your stamped images before scanning and cutting them? Also, the regular mats, how long do they last, and is there a way to restick them when they lose the stick? Thank you for your help. Currently I am leaning towards the Silhouette 4.

    • @KellyWayment
      @KellyWayment 4 года назад

      Sorry I just saw this comment. The PixScan mats and the regular mats generally last several months or more. It depends on how much you use them. Yes, you can color your stamped images before scanning and cutting them. I do not find trying to re-stick the mats is as good as buying a new one. I suggest watching for sales and stocking up on mats so you always have a fresh one ready to go. I love a fresh new mat! :)

      I'm struggling with the same issue. Sometimes more, sometimes less. What I find very strange that more and less can be in the same page! I will try using my scanner next to see whether it gets better when the original source is exactly perpendicular to the (scanner) camera. (--> Update: I can't use my scanner, can't be found. Maybe because combination printer/scanners aren't recognized as scanners. Waiting for someone to enlighten me.)
      I find that at least with creating print&cuts from stamps the following method is superior to using pixscan:
      Stamp your image, trace and add offset (can be quite narrow with this method).
      Cut the resulting cut line once from a piece of card a size that can easily placed in a stamping tool and secured with magnets, this is your alignment card.
      Then cut multiples of the outline. Place the alignment card in your stamping tool, put one cutout into the "hole" and position the stamp. From there on, you can stamp multiple items using the same positions for the card and the stamp. Not my idea, it's Jennifer McGuire's, and I've been cutting first and stamping later ever since I learned that!

      Hey there, don't know whether Silhouette Support was able to help you. I'm going to ask some really silly help desk questions: Are your rollers down and both in a position where they can grab the mat?

    I still don’t see the types of cameras listed in Auto. Can you tell me how to locate those and maybe next time I lose calibration it would be a lot easier to choose a camera.

    • @KellyWayment
      @KellyWayment 6 лет назад

      There is not a visible list of cameras any more in Silhouette Studio v. 4, but it still recognizes a long list of cameras. If you try Auto and it tells you it doesn't recognize the camera, that's when you need to calibrate. Once you calibrate and add that camera as described in the video, that camera should stay in your list unless you delete it.

    I have a love/hate relationship with my PixScan mat. I love what I can do with it but only when it works. More often than not, my PixScan mat comes shooting out of the machine during the registration. I have tried moving it to the left and right but it still won't register.

    I'm trying to use the Pixscan mat with my Cameo 4 Pro, but the machine isn't gripping the mat well. It keeps sliding towards the bottom of the mat, and the machine won't read the registration marks. I have the rollers in the correct placement, and they're locked down.

    I received a Pix Scan mat that was wrinkled. Is there any way to salvage it? Thank you.

    I don't get the point of taking a calibration and it saves the camera, when you said that you need to take a picture each time anyway like you did in the first part. Is it possibly for accuracy?

    If I imported red lines in another program into silhouette and placed over the pix scan would it register as cut lines Automatically or is there another step involved. I do everything that I can on my iPad first (procreate is my hero) because of neck problems.

    This maybe a odd question but can you tell me what the bins are that are housing vinyl rolls and card stock behind her. Could you give me a web or any info would be greatly appreciated on all of the clear storage bins. Thank you

      Martha Hollowell I believe those bins are from the Container Store, which should have a warning on the entrance stating “This Store is Addictive”!

    I followed the tutorial but when I load my mat I get an error message> "Registration Mark Sensor Error. Registration marks for your print & cut job could not be read. If the problem persists attempt to send the file directly from the software with the registration marks enabled." I tried to adjust the mat by placing it a little more to the right since the line should not be covered but that didn't help either. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. I have a Cameo 3 bussines edition.

    Hi... im planning on starting a gadget skinning business.. a small 1.. how do you scan items needed wrapping like cellphones or laptops? Hope to hear from you.

    • @KellyWayment
      @KellyWayment 4 года назад

      That just depends on your scanner. 3D objects are always going to be a little more difficult to scan, but you can try covering your object with a towel instead of closing the lid. Keep in mind that Silhouette Studio is not currently working with scanners, which is a bug we hope to see fixed soon.

    Can't get the PixScan to calibrate at all no matter how many pics I take and changes to how they are taken. Followed this video and a few others on RUclips as well.

      They are still the best ones to help with that. Have you tried using the Auto setting, because not all cameras need calibrating.

    Very nice tutorial video. However, having an old machine, it did not help me get to cut what I scanned. I, however, figured out that when having an old machine the marks have to be changed to be read by the "old" machine. Older machine do not read the "square" mark that requires to be replaced by a "corner". This replaced the machine still not cut though. Need to find out why.

    • @KellyWayment
      @KellyWayment 6 лет назад

      I believe all models of CAMEO can read the PixScan markings. If by "old machine" you mean the SD or Original, those will not read a PixScan mat. Changing Print & Cut registration mark styles has no effect on the PixScan mat. Please contact Silhouette Support if you need help. www.silhouetteamerica.com/contact

      @@KellyWayment I did make it work....and I am so happy to be able to cut my stampings. Yes I have covered one mark and that's what makes it work. Happy danse !!! I was no longer really using my machine but now....it works nearly night and days. You can count on French people to find tricks 😉 Thank you again for this wonderful video so useful.

    Can you also print and cut a picture of people taken with a camera through pixscan?

    • @minikraut
      @minikraut 4 года назад

      Hi Tracy, that really depends on how good you are at adding your cutlines (aka tracing), as pixscan will not do that for you. Try tracing by color or the magnetic tracing tool.

    My Iphone is listed so I took my pictures. After trying 10 different pictures I never could get the pixscan to accept a photo. So I thought I would try scanning. Software doesn't show I have a scanner - which I do. This has become extremely frustrating can not imagine what I am doing wrong.

    For calibration, what percentage of the dots needs to be captured? Is it enough to capture 50%?

    • @KellyWayment
      @KellyWayment 3 года назад +1

      I would think that 50% is not enough. You need most of the dots in the image. Please reach out to Silhouette Support directly for further assistance on PixScan calibration. www.silhouetteamerica.com/contact

    Cool feature... However, my iPhone 6S doesn't seem to have enough resolution for recognition and my scanner is not recognized... Waste of money on buying the Pixscan sheet... ;-(

    • @KellyWayment
      @KellyWayment 3 года назад

      My iPhone 6 has worked just fine. The scanner not being recognized is a problem that appeared after this class was filmed. If you have a larger scanner that scans the whole mat, you can scan it and save it as a document, then import that scanned document instead of a photo. That's the only workaround I've got.

    I have tried to pixscan with the scaner method, but silhoutte does not find my scanner. Do I have to do something so the program can find my scanner? thank you

    • @KellyWayment
      @KellyWayment 4 года назад

      There is an issue with the software recognizing scanners at the moment. It is a known problem and they are working on a resolution.
