  • I've been using oil pastels in my coloring books and I love it! Here are 5 tips and tricks to create easy pastel art! Grab Our Coloring Book is on Amazon! amzn.to/2Amnd9g
Here are my 5 fun tips:
Tip #1 - Apply oil pastel in little circular motion. This helps with better coverage and gives you a nice effect.
Tip #2 - Don't blend the pastels until you have applied all your colors. You'll get a nice tones and you can also add more layers.
Tip #3 - Color outside the lines. It's all going to look great when you blend. This is optional of course because some people prefer to stay within the line and that's ok.
Tip #4 - Look at your coloring page and illustration as a whole instead of separate areas...like a painting! It's inspiring to think outside the box and add elements. Make it your own!
Tip # 5 - Continue to add layers on the blended pastels. This will deepen your page and create cool color transitions.
Bonus Tip - Add glitter paint to your coloring page! Make it shine a little. You'll love it.

Oh my! I have a handful of coloring books and nvr thought to use my oil pastels for this. Tho, I admit I don't let my books sit, as I LOVE using them 😍. I bounce from one to another often. I usually just use my alcohol markers and prisma color pencils, occasionally even water colors. I will definitely be doing this, I Love my oil pastels!! Ty so much for the idea!

I’m so glad you enjoyed my video! I love coloring, and I love listening to music while I do so. I’ll pastels have been one of my favorite medium. I wish I had a secret or a way to sharpen those all pastels. They start with a nice point, but as you use them, they loose their shape. That’s why I don’t use them to do fine details, but only to cover wider areas. My favorite thing about them is using the warmth my fingers to blend.

When was the last time you purchased a coloring book and didn't complete the coloring pages? I sure did...until I started using oil pastels! What's your experience with coloring?

    • @adrienmartin6395

Paint With Nathalie just discovered your Chanel. I started using oil pastel after watching the videos of Cindy. It took me a while to take the plunge. I did and the experience is rewarding. I definitely can say that I enjoy using it better than pencils, markers. I now enjoy using oil pastels and water soluble pastels. I am able to finish a picture faster then when I use colour pencils.

Portfolios are transparent and don't layer well. They're best used with water, then layered over with other oil pastels.

      Hi Janet,
Try using a few types of oil pastels and choose the ones that are soft allowing you to blend them with your finger. It’s my favorite technique with pastels. But you could also try dry pastel or even Crayola crayons. Coloring is a very relaxing, creative activity and hope you enjoy. 😊

Tip #2 - Don't blend the pastels until you have applied all your colors. You'll get a nice tones and you can also add more layers.

Tip # 5 - Continue to add layers on the blended pastels. This will deepen your page and create cool color transitions.
