  • Keep an eye on what’s going on at your front door with the #NestDoorbell (battery). It has a built-in rechargeable battery which means it can be installed in any type of home and is easy to set up yourself.
    To set up the Nest Doorbell at your front door:
    1. Charge your Nest Doorbell with the power cord provided.
    2. Add your Nest Doorbell in the Google Home app and scan the QR code on the back of your device. Make sure the battery option is turned on.
    3. Connect your device to your home Wi-Fi and bring outside. The Nest Doorbell will light up green when it connects. You’ll want to make sure you have a strong connection where you’re installing the device.
    4. Install the base plate to the wall using a drill and the screws provided.
    5. Clip Nest Doorbell into the base plate. You will hear a click when it’s secure.
    6. Once it is secured, finish setting up your Nest Doorbell by following the steps in the Google Home app.
    September Description Update: Nest Doorbell (battery) requires the Google Home app and a Google Account - it’s not compatible with the Nest app or the home.nest.com site.

      @immathug 6 месяцев назад

      @BKVP Yes, anything can be stolen like the TV in your house or the phone/wallet in your pocket. The difference between the Google doorbell and the 2 scenario's is the difficulty of stealing.
      While a TV is in a house, theres a doorknob with a unique key to prevent someone from entering a home to take it. The wallet/phone is in your pocket and you'll put up a fight unless someone comes up to you with lethal weapon.
      The google doorbell uses a simple flat tool which is a pressure release mechanism. Anyone can get their hands on that tool or use a similar flat object. A key locking mechanism should have been implemented for better security measures.

    Hey there, thanks for posting. Yes, that's right - Nest Doorbell (battery) is the first Nest doorbell that can be installed wire-free using a built-in rechargeable battery or hard-wired for continuous charging. This is very tempting as I don't have the option of hardwiring it but I do have a question and it's quite possibly a stupid question, but is each QR Code unique to each door bell so that it is tied to the users/google home account.
    As it can be removed from the plate with just a flat head, is there protection from someone possibly robbing it i.e if someone did rob it can it be set up on another person's account without any questions asked as a new device or does it need to be untied from the original users home/account before it can be used again.

      An idea to make it harder to steal...screw a block or right angle bracket into the wall immediately above the doorbell to stop people putting the tool or screwdriver into the top. That would slow them down at least. If you wire it in you could use one-way security screws in the block to basically lock it in - this just becomes an issue when you want to replace it later as you would probably have to drill out the screws.
