    I love this channel. I think you have all the right ingredients for a popular/successful RUclips channel; you are humble, friendly and a hard working individual. It checks all the boxes for me to subscribe and watch your content.
    Found this channel when I was investigating updating my BIOS (Aorus Pro WiFi B450) and it was really useful to hear about the potential pitfalls. Still with a Ryzen 1600, planning to upgrade soon to a 3rd gen Ryzen (probably to 3700x) when I find good discounts here in South Africa.
    Stay healthy during these times, and keep up the great work!
    Greetings from sunny Johannesburg!

    After reviewing youtube videos for over a week I happen to come across this video that explained my issue. My issues was a bios flash to F31 on a GA-AX370 Gaming 5 in order to install Ryzen 5 3600. Unfortunately I sold my Ryzen 5 1600 and had to purchase an A6-8350. After flash neither CPU are supported under the F31 Flash. Thank you for explaining this issue where I have fell into the dead zone. I purchased a Ryzen 3 1200 to at least get the computer running in order to flash to F40 so I can add my Ryzen 5 3600. Thanks Again !!!!!

I did not continue with BIOS updates as this computer is my HTPC and is performing flawlessly, so im not going to fix a working system. Still in a quandary as to installing EC FW Update Tool before going to F40 and F51 (latest BIOS). Lots of people with issues when trying to install ECFW tool...explanations on the GB blogs are lengthy and not clear at all as to what the issue is and what the solutions are. Do you have any clarity. In your previous you mentioned the ECFW requirement to proceed to, or past, F40. I think a short comprehensive video on how to do this tool install would be very welcomed. Hi AdamantIT, i hope you're doing well. First of all thank you very much for this "sagas" and all of your hard work. My question could be a little bit tedious adding context, i've purchased this mobo without knowing this issue.
    I want to make a summary before getting into the storm, because if i brick this mobo it is VERY difficult here for me to do some recovery handlings at this time.
    1) Let me specify my setup before anything:
    - GB Aorus B450M (fusion rgb 2.0 blah blah).
    - Ryzen 5 1600"AF" this new version of 2019.
    - Patriot 2x8GB 2133 (3200MHz OC).
    and other stuff.
    2) My reasons: I've looking at the stability problems about BIOS and even if i'm not going to 3000 series right now, i might want to overclock my memory to reach the best speed i have, also take the best out of my mobo in general (also some day i could go to 3000 series ).
    3) Procedure (what i'm really asking for): if i don't misunderstood GB website AND this video, i should:
    a) Upgrade AMD Chipset Drivers before BIOS update.
    b) Get from F1 to -> F32 then to -> F40 then to-> F50 (each individual from pendrive one at a time from BIOS SETUP).
    c) test everything (POST times, ram OC, boot, etc...).
    i hope you could read this, in advance i apologize about my long comment and beforehand MANY thanks.
    Got a new subscriber.
    Best regards!

      @Adamant_IT  4 года назад +2

      Yup, that all looks fine to me. I would leave XMP (RAM OC) turned off while you do all this, then turn it back on once you're finished.
      I'd also suggest installing the EC FW Update as well, which is mentioned in the red-text. It's not essential, but I believe the board does weird things if you later move to a 4-RAM-module setup without the update installed. I don't think it really matters when you do this, as 2-modules works just fine.

    5 days ago I bought a Gigabyte B450 Aorus M for my Ryzen 3600 build and it also came with BIOS version 41 pre-installed so it booted just fine right out of the box. Seems like it's becoming more common for retailers to be selling these boards already Ryzen 3000 compatible. I found the POST time to be quite slow so I updated to BIOS F50a and it certainly boots a lot faster than with 41. After running it for a day (not much of a test so far, I know) I haven't had any problems or weirdness.

      I didn't, and didn't seem to have any issues afterwards.
      However, these days if I've done a manual-reprogram on a mobo, I'll follow up with another flash from within BIOS (the normal way) so that update can do any other aux updates (EC, RGB, etc...) that it wants to. This is easy for desktop boards, but some laptop OEMs just don't supply BIOS updates, so it's not always possible.

    I fell a victim to smooth advertisement and assortment of the accessories that come here, neatly packed into this small motherboard.
    Once I bought it, I sat home and researched, that's how I came to find this series you started. I knew it couldn't be good, at first glance, I was happy with the buy...
    After seeing all the you went trough, I instantly regretted this. I hated the fact that I had to buy the one of few if not only motherboard with this big of a flashing issue.
    I am still triggered even tho it's been a month, finally, my RAM and CPU cooling for Ryzen5 2600, is arriving tomorrow and I am more than anxious to put the build up together.
    This series has helped me a lot to understand everything, I found much help in the comment section here, tomorrow, I will know what the bios version it came equipped with. I hope I get lucky with a single bios update! What I understood here was to go >F32 > F50... We'll see how all this adds up! Thanks for all the knowledge :D will report on how it all went.
    P.S. If I somehow managed to watch this before buying, I would NEVER buy this one, the budget differences aren't worth the worry, in my honest opinion.

    I bought 8 motherboards back in 2020 to start a RUclips Channel and was in a major auto accident the next week. I just updated the bios on my X570, x470, a520, a520 to take the 5000 series AMD cpu. When i read about the Aorus B450 M, I decided to watch a RUclips video and found your videos. I have 3 RUclips accounts and subscribed them all to you. That was very impressive tech work and the soldering chip swap was a great idea. My Gigabyte B450 Aorus M board was bought from Amazon in 2020. The front of the box does say, This motherboard is Ryzen 3000 ready. The Gigabyte website has a new bios that it says is great and everyone should upgrade to it. If you were going to use the Flash button without a cpu installed and you know about it saying upgrade to a previous bios before going all the way to new bios, what do you think. If it already supports 3000 series, it may have the 40 or above. I was going to make it my PLEX server but the 5000 series would be nice to have. Even if I sell it, people want the 5000 series. If I take a shot of usb flash upgrade to the newest Bios, I lean toward it working because it is 3000 ready or fail without bricking the board. I watched all 3 videos and wondered what you thought about my 3000 ready board. Glad to see you have 163,000 subscribers, i was hit head on at 125 mph and have headaches from hell. Sorry the post is so long. I started to send you the message by twitter but I thought it should be attached to this video.

      Adam - There are basically no X470 mATX boards. Assuming that we're working in mATX here (because if you have an ATX case then just get an ATX mobo...) you're limited to B450 and a couple of X570 boards.
      Wolf - You cannot directly flash to F50a without specialist equipment (EEPROM programmer). Another comment pointed out the MSI B450m Mortar Max, which is a really strong board, but more expensive. If you don't have a means to flash the Aorus M, you'll end up spending less on the more expensive MSI board that's ready to go out of the box.

    So in my case, I have a Ryzen 5 1400 on the B450 Aorus M, BIOS version F2. If I were to upgrade my CPU to say a R5 3600, I'd simply go ahead and flash the F30 bios, get that done, then flash the F50a bios, and my 3600 should be supported and running just fine? I've so far had absolutely no reason to update my bios since everything runs great with short POST times.
    On another note, I believe the issues with having to set custom timings when going past memory frequencies of 3200MHz may have to do with that the board does not officially support speeds beyond 3200MHz, as my 3200 speed kit worked straight away simply by setting the XMP profile.

    Why Dual BIOS featutre did not recover original BIOS version to "Main" chip from "Backup" chip? You used soldering to change position of chips so I don't know why you did this. You had not 1-st or 2-nd gen Ryzen CPU? This was reason?

    I just purchased this board last week, and according to the seller currently, its allegedly compatible with 3000 series ryzen CPU's out of the box, but I can't get a post, or hardly any electrical response. Turning on the PSU gives a short brief blue flash on the LED panel on the back of the PCB under the IO. Is this a bios issue? Is this caused because I'm using a 3600x? (Note that when I initially built the PC, I was able to get a boot out of it, but wasn't able to enter bios so I shut it down and tried again, and after that, I couldn't get any response from the components or board except for the previously mentioned LED flash)

    • @Adamant_IT
      @Adamant_IT  4 года назад +1

      If you've seen a picture on the screen at least once with a 3600x in it, then it's had the BIOS update for Ryzen 3000. Past that, there's a laundry list of things this could be, including a corrupted BIOS.
      Make sure you've done a BIOS reset with the CMOS battery and/or jumper. I'm going to assume that yu've got known-good RAM/CPU/PSU here. If you haven't tested those on another machine, or tried different ones with your mobo, do that first.
      If that doesn't do it I'd try shorting pins 1 and 6 of the Main Bios chip with tweezers while you turn it on until you get a beep (make sure you have a beep speaker connected). This trick hasn't worked for me, but I keep getting people commenting with this answer on my gigabyte troubleshooting videos, so it's worth a shot.

  • @ryot7
    @ryot7 4 года назад +1

    The points i got:
    - Having an 1000/2000 Ryzen series you will be ok to update BIOS without so much problem.
    - Considering you have one of the CPU series commented above...to update fine to the latest BIOS version you need to update to F30 (F32?) and then flash to the latest (which actually is F50).
    - You dont need to necessarily update to F40 to be able to flash to the latest one.
    What i didnt get:
    - EC FW Update is really not needed? I mean...if you dont have your 4 memory slot being used, you can ignore this?
    - Some old bios versions have an note to update the AMD Chipset driver before updating it to some newer ones.....this thing make any difference updating it or not?
    - No matter what BIOS version i have in my MB (even F50 which is the best now)....if i unplug my PC from the wall....my BIOS will be reset and i will have to make everything again?

    • @Adamant_IT
      @Adamant_IT  4 года назад

      Zen1/Zen+ for safe updates, Yes
      F30 then Latest, Yes
      Skip past F40, Yes
      EC FW, correct, only needed if you're running 4 RAM modules, I missed this in the video
      Chipset Drivers, not sure. Haven't seen any need for this, maybe not relevant on fresh windows install
      Resets if unplugged, MAYBE. I fixed mine accidentally while soldering, but lots of reports from others of this fault.

If the BIOS update doesn't help, try turning off XMP (thus running the RAM at 2133MHz) - and then if that fixes it, check my video on XMP for how to resolve that.

    Ok, I have been watching your previous videos to get a better clue about the issue. I found this video just now. It seems like you have got deeper into the problem. This is better. But it still isn't good as I hoped.
    3200 Ram is okay for me. So I can accept fiddling with broken bios links and taking a long time to find my way up by using your guide.
    The problem is ability to start the system with the primary CPU.
    I assume, if I get a bios like F1 to F5, I won't be able to get this board working right away with just a 3200G.
    Even though I have no other use for it, I even considered getting a Athlon 200GE just so I can update the bios. But apparently it won't be useful below F30...
    pffff..
    I really don't want to spent so much for a Ryzen 1000 or 2000 just to flash bios.
    So annoying.
    But at least you showed us the possible problems.
    As I don't have any tool you have, I would not be able to find the problem and that could make me lose my mind.
    Thanks for your work.

    • @Adamant_IT

      Yea that's the crux of it. And to add insult to injury, the 200GE I've bought seems to have been killed off already, it's not listed on compatibility charts for X570. It might work by fluke, but now we're into the final act of AM4, there's too many AM4 CPUs for it to be as simple as 'if I fits I sits'.

    Hello sir,
    I recently was just built my PC in July but first I had a issue where my standoffs because my motherboard had different grounding points I found out was able to fix the issue relatively fast.
    Yesterday it was running fine I had left it overnight so they can update a game. I woke up in the next morning and I turned the PC off after I saw that the update was done.
    Five hours later I returned home to see if my PC on, after I came in from work it puzzled me at first as to why the PC would come back on after I made sure it turned off.
    However my first problem was there was no video data going through my HDMI cable to my monitor so I thought the cable was broken I switched cable out the cable isn't broken.
    Changed gpu just incase it was an issue and it did nothing I've tried clearing cmos and checking all power connections everything is fine.
    I even took my cpu because I saw the flashing lights by cpu and ram so I cleaned those and still there's nothing!
    I would your opinion on this if I should get a new motherboard since I don't have another ryzen cpu at my disposal?
    My setup contains the following

    X2 8gb teamgroup ram T-force
    Rtx2070 (zotac)
    600w psw evga 80 plus certified
    Stock ryzen cpu cooler
    If there's anything you suggest I do before buying a new motherboard please let me know.

      Check what version is already on the board before you flash it though, as some people have reported that their boards were F41 out of the box, and ready for Ryzen 3.

      Yes that's correct. Although of note, as of this comment it's now just F50, rather than F50a.

      @@Adamant_IT Thank you. I'm still having an issue though. I updated to F30 BIOS just fine, but when I attempt to Update to F50 BIOS My PC stops registering mouse and Keyboard input. I select the F50 BIOS, and it tells me "Press here to Start". However I can not because it no longer takes any Keyboard or Mouse inputs. If I try again, the next time it'll say "Invalid BIOS image". I re-download and upzip the F50 BIOS to my flash drive, and it takes the BIOS F50, but again, just won't register my mouse movements or Keyboard input. Edit : I found out the problem. F30 BIOS didn't support all my USB ports. I updated to F32 BIOS after the F30 BIOS, and then F50 BIOS. Works fine now.

      Yea that sounds correct - you'll need an older CPU to update it though, unless it comes with F40 out of the box.

    • @Adamant_IT
      @Adamant_IT  4 года назад +1

      I'm honestly not sure, the backup BIOS did not work to any useful extend while I was working on this board. Gigabyte need to drop the 'automatic' bit and just stick a selector switch on the board, so the backup BIOS is isolated.

      @@Adamant_IT i thought the backup bios worked when the primary IC konked out, or got corrupted. Does the b/up keep the previous "Fxxx" bios below the current/latest one? Am looking over the MSI B450m mortar. The bios flash feature is a great idea! Thanks

    • @Adamant_IT
      @Adamant_IT  4 года назад +1

      That's the thing, the backup BIOS doesn't help if you simply flash a bad BIOS version or something, so you can 'lock yourself out' so to speak.
      But yea, the MSI Mortar is a better alternative to this, just be sure to get the Mortar MAX, as it's a new revision that's factory updated.

      @@Adamant_IT i think the mortar max is a bit higher $$, but probably worth it. Another method would be, when i got the gigabyte m/b, have a pc shop correctly update/flash the bios, as i dont have 2 or 3 suitable amd cpus sitting around to do it at home! Thanks again 🤓

    hi i have ryzen 3 3200g is it safe to update the bios to f32 straight away?

  • @alfredogiwisch2871

    Another problem can be the poor quality of the PCB layout due the lack of enough layers and proper shielding to avoid signals crosstalk and errors bits on the memory data bus but the capacitive effect and jittering at high clock speeds remains despite the quality of the memories, PCB and processor I/O memory controller.

      @@Adamant_IT hey mate, you mentioned that in order to flash the bios for this mobo to the most stable bios f50, we users are going to need a Ryzen 1000 or 2000 cpu/APU. before i do it though, i just want to confirm that the 3400g (zen +) is a 2000 ryzen cpu and is okay to use when I flash bios to F32 then to F50?

      @@Adamant_IT Thanks for replying. The safest bet is to just update to latest pre-ryzen 3000 bios and then update to newer once I get r5 3600.
      I used msi b350m gaming pro with 2200g and wanted to update bios to beta version that supports ryzen 3000. Ended up with no post and no debug lights on, just fans endlessly spinning. I'm not sure if I bricked the board or just msi dropped support for 2200g to include ryzen 3000. I haven't found a way to repair the board so I'll get new aorus b450 m.

    This motherboard is such a mess. Picked up a used Aorus B450m recently, and had the long boot time and not saving bios setting on cold boot issue. The board had F62d ( most current at this time). What fixed it for me was flashing back to F61, and selecting "Also update back up bios" to ensure both chips have fresh bios programmed. That fixed my problem of the long boot and bios setting not saving on cold boot. I subsequently updated only the main bios to F62d and left the backup alone at F61 so I can tell which bios chip is being used. Using a R3 2200G on the board.
