- A crazy rumor is going around the internet that Star Wars Mandalorian Executive Producer Jon Favreau threatened to leave the entire franchise becauseKathleen Kennedy, the CEO of Lucasfilm, was interfering and meddling too much in his work! An article put out by Boundingintocomics.com reads that Kennedy and her associates allegedly interfered with Favreau's plans for The Mandalorian and its spinoffs on a number of occasions. The rumors also claim that Kennedy allegedly interfered by ordering the firing of Gina Carano, and altering the script for The Book of Boba Fett so that Grogu reunites with Din Djarin despite Djarin handing Grogu off to Luke Skywalker at the conclusion of The Mandalorian Season 2! As a result, Favreau was so disgusted he said, “F*** it. Let them do whatever the hell they want. I’m going to go off and work on Ahsoka in peace!” Also according to the rumors, Disney CEO Bob Chapek asked what he could do to make Favreau stay. Favreau responded to this inquiry saying, “I get to make Mando Season 3 the way I want, no outside influences especially Kathy!” These are bizarre claims that have surfaced online, but they are very likely accurate because the Star Wars fandom has consistently voiced its disapproval of the project’s presentation. @@darrel7589 That’s moreso because of the IP, not because she was necessarily leading it in a profitable direction. They might’ve made billions from the sequels and shows, but there are quite a lot of people who despise Disney Star Wars and avoid it because of what The Last Jedi did to the franchise. They could’ve made even more in profit from the movies and the shows had they not tried to subvert everyone’s expectations. If the rumors and leaks are to be believed, Kennedy even got scolded by Disney execs about exactly that.

I felt the same way. It really felt too soon that they were reunited after they gave us the ending of M S2. And I was looking forward how this will affect his journey since he earned the darksaber. Truly a shame that this wasn't the case.
I noticed that Favreau really used some anime elements in both S1 and S2. Having Djarin departed from Grogu, but the journey is far from over. They really missed that opportunity on this one and glad that he's allow to do his own thing in Ashoka.

Grogu is written to go with Luke (which was an amazing moment in cinema.) The show IS CALLED “The Mandalorian”. He is the constant. The “Fellowship” sometimes must be broken to make the Story great! Sometimes reunions are not needed (especially so soon) unless it’s about “Merchandising! Merchandising!”
If he really has had more control for season 3, it hasn't helped the show's development. This season has been pretty underwhelming.
I thought it was weird to get Grogu right back without him getting some real Jedi training.

A story can get too fucked up to be saved and the express purpose of TLJ was for Kennedy to get her friend Rian into the franchise, Rian who has such little backbone over corporate interference that he just let her do whatever she wanted.

I can totally believe it this. Kathleen was great under the steady hand of George Lucas and Steven Spielberg respectively. But the minute she was put in a position of power and authority she abused it.
Like Kennedy 'under the steady hands' of Lucas and Spielberg didn't preside over some utter shite alongside their many shared triumphs, while Kennedy headed up Lucasfilm for Andor, Mando, Rogue One, Clone Wars finale... as well as some complete disasters and some disappointing almost-theres.
It's almost like these people all have successes and failures under their belts as producers, you don't get to point at some and ignore others just because some people on the Internet have made hating Kennedy into a cottage industry.

It was Kennedy that allowed JJ Abrams and Ryan Johnston to have zero plan in regard to the bigger story arc that should have flowed through all three sequels. Instead Ryan got to make a good movie but it wasn’t a Star Wars movie and then JJ Abrams had to come along and ret-con everything from the Last Jedi undoing the second movie and in turn giving us a Palpatine return that would have never been required had they not fully planned out the story beats for all 3 sequels.

How many examples do you want? For just the most pertinent ones, Lucas's TPM (and AotC) were *the* running joke of movie criticism for a dozen years, before having to share the podium with Crystal Skull. Lucasfilm's *only* live-action SW TV outings under Lucas were The Holiday Special and the Ewok movies; not long after that we were presented with Howard the Duck.
I'm not for one second knocking Lucas or Spielberg or comparing Kennedy with them as directors and visionaries (and personally I've always loved TPM, still rating it as the best of the non-OT movies, but then I also unashamedly love Solo, rating it above Rogue One), but as the heads of filmmaking outfits, producers and executive producers, they not only worked hand in glove with Kennedy, but they also had their share of misfires.
My sole point really is to take issue with cherry picking - you can't in all fairness just pick the stuff you don't like and blame the head of Lucasfilm for their failings, if you're not going to credit the head of Lucasfilm with the stuff you *do* like.
