Well the basics would be - no heat, no dye (or only henna), wash less often, wear your hair up a lot to protect the ends, use a hair friendly comb (Le Bao Long f.Ex.) and hairtoys (Etsy), a mild organic shampoo (Aubrey Organics, Earthly Delight), oil your hair for moisture (on dry hair), wear it in a bun on top of your head at night or at least braided, have a healthy diet, avoid chemicals, take care of your vitamins and hormones. :)
Oh I mourn the loss of my hair now, I used to have it down just past the small of my back while living in the Netherlands but when I returned back to Australia the weather or water must have done something because it started falling out. This resulted in my chopping the lot off in one go to 2 inches all over. I kept it short for a year but am now growing it again, to just above my shoulders so far. Your videos help me know I can wear it long again in this country and the styles are glorious
I am trying to add more tutorials, but I am really bad at braiding. It would probably confuse viewers ^^ and the result often looks messy. If I perfect a braid in the future, I will be sure to post it.
Neat! I have been doing something so similar to this. It is called a "wrap" bun. I twist my hair up in the same way and clip it just like you did, but I wrap my hair back and forth on the sides only so you can still see the clip in the middle and I pin my ends. I will try this variation. I like what you do with the ribbon and how you leave your ends loose.
I made it! (the purple one) It is simply a strip of felted wool fabric I had left over from a dress I made. Just cut the desired length and width. The fabric does not fray :)
I have long hair and I am always looking for new ways to bun it. Thanks for posting this. PS the music was cool too. I'll be sure to look up info on the group Poeta Magica.
Thank you! With a mild, sulfate free shampoo it is possible to stretch washes. I was able to go 7-10 days without a wash (though I usually washed weekly) without it getting very oily. Atm I was every 4 days though, cause I haven't grown my hair in a while. Washing less helps keeping the ends from getting dry and damaged while growing. But when I trim often it isn't needed as much. :)
It works with shorter hair if you don't twist too much length and the place the ends over a smaller clip and pinning them in place instead of more wrapping.
@antiheldin vielleicht hab ich einen eckigen Kopf? o_O Bei mir halten die ganz gut, binde es aber auch nicht zuuu fest. Rauhe Baender halten besser aber ansonsten kannst du auch Haarnadeln hernehmen.
@Neumie7 For thin hair probably just past shoulder length. For shorter thicker hair it helps to just pin the hair over the clip. Leave out 1 strand of hair on the top left and top right to make it look like my ends here ;)
You can wear it frequently but you might want to alternate it with buns that are held with hair sticks or forks. Those are quickest and the most hair friendly. :)
The clips pull less if you pick a good one, maybe the "no slip" by scunci, and they have to have the right size, fit snug so they don't slide down. And try different places on your head, I have a perfect spot for updos. If all does not work you can try this with a barette or ficcare clip.
@bungasyakirinairawan It takes me about 5 years to grow to classic length (buttocks) but for everyone hair grows at a different speed. Once you start growing you will see how fast it grows, you can measure growth too, I have another video "how to trim and measure your hair".
If it is shorter than shoulder length it won't work, but if it is around shoulder length or more just stop once you flip the ponytail over and pin it into a ball over the clip right there. You will need some real hair pins to make this hold.
Hey! I love this style, and I'm going to use it for an upcoming renaissance fair:) I was just wondering, where did you buy that ribbon? I've been trying to find one everywhere like that, but in navy blue:)
@SpecialKay666 Normally once a week. I used to wash daily before that, but my scalp was just so out of balance that my hair was dirty after a day or two. Luckily I was able to reverse the damage and balance it out so its not producing any gunk. Washing less is THIS much better for the lengths btw.
Yeah I know the wrap bun, I have a video for that one too :D Glad the video is better this time! The slow motion is very good for hair videos to show detail too.
@iiliketospit Once a week. Although that might not work for everyone since some peoples hair gets greasy very fast. Start with a mild detergent shampoo and your hair will adjust to produce less grease (Aubrey Organics, Kiss my Face shampoo f. ex.)
@Gladtobemom Yes, the renaissance had a few hairdos similar to roman and grecian styles. I have done a roman bun this way before, maybe I should post that too ^^..
@regalianpeaches That was a good approach, most natural or organic brands are milder so your hair won't dry out as fast. I use Earthly Delight Shampoo and Conditioner (willner.com) so far the mildest I could find that still cleanses well enough.
@daemmerung19919 Da gibt es einiges, wenn du magst kannst du mir eine Nachricht senden dann kann ich dirs Passwort fuer meine Homepage geben. Da gehts um Haarpflege :) Und danke!

Let me know if the video is running well, used windows movie maker this time. Ignore the typos, fixing things too often ruins the videos flow ;(
I am trying to add more tutorials, but I am really bad at braiding. It would probably confuse viewers ^^ and the result often looks messy. If I perfect a braid in the future, I will be sure to post it.
Really cute bun. It actually has a very Elegant Grecian look.

Your hair is really cool, I can't believe it looks so good on day 9 after a wash o.o

Wow. You're a beautiful girl with beautiful hairs. Thanks for the video. I like this hair style.
I love this, its so simple but so very elegant. I also love the music, who is it by.

That bun is seriously cute! I am going to have to give it a try, but hair clips pull so much now. Maybe I can get it to work anyway.
I think if you don't wrap as much and just pin the ends in place before it will work.'

i like this up-do. And your hair is so well behaved and long , i'm so jealous :(
If it is shorter than shoulder length it won't work, but if it is around shoulder length or more just stop once you flip the ponytail over and pin it into a ball over the clip right there. You will need some real hair pins to make this hold.
Thank you, the song is "diane vitrea" by Poeta Magica, you can find info on the band at the end of the video!
What is the color of your hair,I love it...
Very pretty! I will try it on my hair, thank you ^^ And I like the music too...what's the song's name? :)
Diane Vitrea by Poeta Magica, and thanks! Glad you liked it!
What is the color of your hair,I love it.
@MalignantLibrarian try a bigger clip, I have seen ladies with thick thick knee length hair mastering this style.

2003 it was bra strap length and 2008 I reached classic length. I trimmed almost monthly though, without trims around 5.4 years.

Sehr schön gemacht, Emi!

Thank you! I posted a few more recently :) and have more to comer soon .
Kannst du ja wieder wachsen lassen? :(
Sorry if this is a weird question , but how many times go you wash your hair? Seeing as it's so long I would think washing would be a bit difficult
I used red Henna here on my naturally dark brown hair.
@Gladtobemom Yes, the renaissance had a few hairdos similar to roman and grecian styles. I have done a roman bun this way before, maybe I should post that too ^^..
Your hair is really pretty
Thank you! ^^
Thank you :)
9 days after wash?? How often do you wash your hair?

Looks pretty :)
Thanks!

Back then I used red henna on my dark brown hair.
@kalinzxgor3 Washing is not difficult at all o_o, takes me 10 mins.
@regalianpeaches That was a good approach, most natural or organic brands are milder so your hair won't dry out as fast. I use Earthly Delight Shampoo and Conditioner (willner.com) so far the mildest I could find that still cleanses well enough.
