Stunning woman there. I used to think Voyager is garbage and never watched it. Recently just started watching it on a whim and wow... IMO, it is the best Star Trek of all and Capt Janeway is my favorite captain of all. She is terrific
I fell in love with Next Generation. Continued my journey with Deep Space Nice. Currently watching Voyager. I don't think it's as good as the other two but much better than I expected it to be.
Oh Voyager is painful to watch. Let's look at all of the annoying characters the program provided: Neelix, Tuvak, The Doctor, Janeway well the entire crew of the bridge and engineering.
+Sean Webb You have to be a little nerdy to like it,forget that it is all happening in a couple of rooms, and imagine there is a camera crew following the ship to film the videos of the outside,it s nerdy but the women are hot,I like it.
I have every episode of the ENTIRE 7 Seasons of Star Trek Voyager. I love every single character on that show... Voyager is my ideal Star Trek experience.
+Ml PSH it was too good for their own good, they defeated any and all enemies that came their way, wirh a hand tied behind their backs,at the end they even made Borg their bitch,Picard got his ass kicked by Borg...I would ve loved to see a Voyager movie...but face what enemy?
Giovanni Socci haha "made the Borg their bitch". That's so true. I do love the Borg (the best villains) but part of their scariness was how unfathomably powerful and unbeatable they are. When the crew got Seven on their side, the Borg became less scary because they always had a way to beat them (usually using Seven's knowledge/technology in some way)
BlinkinFirefly Hah! I thought it was just me or some kinda starstruck crush thing, but yeah she looks beautiful here. She ended up marrying a congressman or something, right?
She looks so much like a young Kate Hepburn it's unbelievable. (yes I know she did Tea at Five, I saw it, it was amazing) But she even acts and talks like her. It's like reincarnation. She's a goddess and so was Kate Hepburn.
ive watched all the star treks at least a few times. voyager ive watched more than 10x now. after all this time, i can easily say kate mulgrew and voyager is my favorite star trek.
This is one of my favorite Kate Mulgrew interviews, she so so pretty. This interview took place on 2/10/1995 so Voyager was a new show because the first show of Voyager did not air until 1/16/1995.
There has never been more then two Star Trek series airing at the same time. Voyager was shot on many of the sound stages used by TNG. TNG last episode aired on May 23rd, 1994. Voyager took over many of the sound stages and started shooting by late September early October. The show started in January 16th 1995, this episode aired after the airing of just 4 episodes. Mulgrew was cast in late September or October of 1994 after the departure of Genevieve Bujold. DS9 first aired Jan 3rd, 1993.
Is this the same awesome captain that stared downed 'fear' embodied in a clown in the great episode, The Thaw? What a great actress and person...and beautiful to boot..
It's starting to get that way! I am almost 30 and am considering on going back to school as a graduate student. I have a few friends who are in their lower 20s and it's starting to become alarming when I make references to Rockos Modern Life or the band Garbage and I am given back a blank stare. It's horrifying haha! I mean...to us it will always be one of the coolest times ever that everyone should have experienced lol... but not necessarily so for them.I guess that's the strange thing about getting older :)
The Android Next Door absolutely hands down do you know she was Rick Berman’s first choice but he couldn’t convince Braga and Taylor to ditch Bujold in the beginning
The Android Next Door god yes Rick Berman never wanted Bujold as Janeway he wanted Kate from the beginning shame Brannon Braga and Jeri Taylor didn’t listen until Bujold quit
Love her as RED on Orange Is The New Black (Netflix) What a class act. Btw... some of the comments here about her appearance are really uncalled for & just show how shallow & ignorant some people are. Who cares? Looks really aren't what someone is about ~ that is, unless you're shallow & ignorant.
I own the series on DVD : oh man, what a woman, nice, sexy, intelligent and tough ! She's amazing in the role of Janeway. Surprised that Voyager never went to Big Screen !!!!!!
I remember 7 freaking out over cheese cake in one episode. She took one bite and nearly had a big O right there because it tasted so good Once Voyager was my favorite I just couldn't believe I never watched this show when it was in production! After finishing the last episode I ended up starting all over again and discovered I missed a bunch of episodes the 1st go 'round. Somehow Netflix must have jumped over numerous eps which was fine with me because I got to see several not previously seen :)
I'm with thebakerman1 - Voyager is EASILY my favorite Trek series! For one thing, they have a clear goal ( getting home ) which they actually ACHIEVE in the end! As such, the series has a strong and satisfying conclusion, unlike, for instance TNG, where in the last episode they just "fly off into the sunset" to go God knows where. Also, I think the crew had the best rapport of any Trek crew, very human and genuine. And yes, I'll say it - SEXY Captain! (Hubba-Hubba!) What's NOT to like?
Check out The Principle trailer. This science documentary about recent observations that question the Copernican Principle narrated by Kate Mulgrew. It is due for release likely in May 2014.
Being the captain doesn't always mean being the best actor. It was true for Shatner, it's true for her, it's not true for Patrick Steward...but, let's talk about 7 of 9 and the doctor. I loved the actors, the acting and the interaction. It was like Bones / Spock, where the sentimental is the hologram, go figure :)
@Blue Rain She was good, but the setup with Crusher-Mother/Son was better for the story and for the overall cast. If she did the 1st season nobody would have asked for better.
The bit about her being all glad of the popularity of rock music.. Really, less than two decades ago, Star Trek was still seen as awesome, and rock still the staple of hit music. WHAT HAS HAPPENED. X_X
Shes so freaking prreeeettyyyy ! Especially in this ! I'm waiting to see her new moive, loks hilarious . And shes aging so wonderfully, though i'm still in denial of the fact . lol
No Janeway on DS9, but there have been Ferengi on Voyager. Twice, actually. Once in the Voyager pilot, part of which takes place on DS9, in which we see Quark. (I don't think Janeway herself was actually shown on the station, but perhaps it could be assumed that she was there somewhere.) The other time was later on in the 3rd or 4th season, I think. Voyager encounters the shuttlepod containing the two Ferengi who were marooned in the Delta Quadrant during TNG's 3rd season episode "The Price".
Around 8:04 Mulgrew says you won't see the Voyager crew eating because she says "nobody eats in space" Actually there are numerous scenes of them consuming LOTS of different kinds of food throughout the run of the show so she was quite off on that prediction I never watched Voyager when it was in production so a few months ago I started watching every episode in order on Netflix and it quickly became my favorite show. After viewing the last episode was rather sad because now it's over :(
Stunning woman there. I used to think Voyager is garbage and never watched it. Recently just started watching it on a whim and wow... IMO, it is the best Star Trek of all and Capt Janeway is my favorite captain of all.
She is terrific
Yess!!!! I had the same change of opinion when I watched it after I turned thirty. Honestly... One of the greatest of all time.
I fell in love with Next Generation. Continued my journey with Deep Space Nice. Currently watching Voyager. I don't think it's as good as the other two but much better than I expected it to be.
True.
I can't believe she's forty in this video. She looks fantastic.
mrgabest
There are even better looking women if you take the blankets and the wallpaper and put them on hold until the chalk board is installed.
mrgabest yeahh
whats wrong with 40
mrgabest forty isn’t old
@Dancestar1981 nobody said it was, it's just that she's so lively and energetic for her age, a lot of people at that age aren't so pleasing as her.
I own every episode of Voyager. I don't know why people hate it so much, it's very good.
+Tevo77777 Bit of a mystery to me too. I've seen all series, and I like them all, even though I'm a difficult viewer.
I love em all....Enterprise, TOS, which I fell in love with as a kid in the 70s in syndication, TNG.....DS9, Voyager...ALL OF IT
Is that really a thing?
+Ezekiel Koroisau Voyager was great. It's always been my favourite of the Star Trek tv shows. Dam shame they never got their own film.
+Ml PSH it was too good for their own good, they defeated any and all enemies that came their way, wirh a hand tied behind their backs,at the end they even made Borg their bitch,Picard got his ass kicked by Borg...I would ve loved to see a Voyager movie...but face what enemy?

When the crew got Seven on their side, the Borg became less scary because they always had a way to beat them (usually using Seven's knowledge/technology in some way)
I love Kate Mulgrew and her Captain Janeway. She's so smart and funny.
She's so damn pretty here.
She was so gorgeous, elegant and just really beautiful, I luv her eyes and her eyebrows the shape of them she has the most divine smile.
Um.....Jon looks 12....
And Kate, WOW! she looks amazing
BlinkinFirefly Hah! I thought it was just me or some kinda starstruck crush thing, but yeah she looks beautiful here.
She ended up marrying a congressman or something, right?
1acroyear1 senator
Would bang both if thats the point you're making
She looks so much like a young Kate Hepburn it's unbelievable. (yes I know she did Tea at Five, I saw it, it was amazing) But she even acts and talks like her. It's like reincarnation. She's a goddess and so was Kate Hepburn.
colievalette
You're only saying that because they're both named Kate. That, and the resemblance. :)
Yes. I've always saw/heard Hepburn in her. I agree they are both goddesses!
colievalette Coincidence I think not. They share the same Zodiac Signs. Both are Taurus, born in year of the Sheep
So many under appreciated her back in the day I think they’re starting to wake up now
Ya'll, she is 40 in the video! Soooooo gorgeous. Classic beauty. Her laugh is awesome.
Kate is far too articulate for this studio audience LOL! Love this woman.
Chris Eberlein me too I’ve had a pretty good education and specialised in English Language and Literature and she’d still keep me on my toes
If Kate Mulgrew walked up to me and offered me a Ferengi lunch box, I'm pretty sure I'd die of happiness.
Love Voyager. It had consistently the best stories for me and Janeway would get it!
I don't remember John Stewart ever being that young.
YTEdy
He wasn't. This is a retcon.
Love how she comes on stage to Bush playing...god, 95 was such a great year. Miss the 90's
This is my favorite interview concerning her and Voyager, she's just so excited!
I've always liked her as Janeway. It's nice to know that she was very happy in her roll, and I think that helped her immerse herself into it.
I was 17 years old when this interview happened but I never seen it until now. No wonder I had a crush on Janeway.
I only watched this to hear her voice after OITNB
Wow... the 90s were just... wow.
You must have been born in 2005.
No I was born in '77. I was around in the 90s but the god awful fashion still gets to me.
jpowers55
well, in the 90ies we were laughing at the fashion of the 80ies, and thought 90ies fashion was cool.
Kate! You ARE a rockstar in my book 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
ive watched all the star treks at least a few times.
voyager ive watched more than 10x now.
after all this time, i can easily say kate mulgrew and voyager is my favorite star trek.
This is the BEST INTERVIEW EVER
Kate was amazing as a guest star in Cheers. Look up the episodes from late Season 4, she was stunning and a great performance.
When Kate delivers those lines, even as a joke, I expect for everything to change. The console would pop-up. Lights would go red. :D
How beautiful was capitan Janway !
She will be always in our minds.
This is one of my favorite Kate Mulgrew interviews, she so so pretty. This interview took place on 2/10/1995 so Voyager was a new show because the first show of Voyager did not air until 1/16/1995.
Levelheadedgurl1978 I was 14 when this aired
I love you Kate. You are a powerful woman. Good luck for you on your bridge:
I LOVE Kate Mulgrew so much! I wish I could meet her. Star Trek: Voyager is my favorite series :D
xxnactise Id love to meet her too but live in Victoria Australia so the likelihood of it happening is very slim
when kate mulgrew comes on your show it becomes The Kate Mulgrew Show
This was awesome, I had never seen this. I wondered if she had ever done an interview with Jon Stewart(love him).
Two things leap to mind:
A) Damn, she was hot.
B) If she doesn't get the appeal of Van Halen, there's something wrong with her.
Thanks for uploading! I love her in the early interviews!
Actually the very first episode of Voyager (Caretaker) they Voyager is AT DS9 picking up officers. So yes. Janeway was at DS9.
Is this the same awesome captain that stared downed 'fear' embodied in a clown in the great episode, The Thaw? What a great actress and person...and beautiful to boot..
Her voice is just so amazing!! Loved her humour on STV ^^
23 years ago. Wow, they are so young!
"Doritos flavor the way you look at life."
WTF? lmao
I was 17 when this aired. You make me feel old.
I miss the 90s especially 1995.
Oh that was such a good year! For me anyway. Actually I miss the early nineties =)
Krystina Snyder it certainly was a great time to grow up! Unfortunately people just starting to enter college were born in 1995 lol.
roewedge Isn't that crazy? It is for me, It makes me feel so old. lol
It's starting to get that way! I am almost 30 and am considering on going back to school as a graduate student. I have a few friends who are in their lower 20s and it's starting to become alarming when I make references to Rockos Modern Life or the band Garbage and I am given back a blank stare. It's horrifying haha!
I mean...to us it will always be one of the coolest times ever that everyone should have experienced lol... but not necessarily so for them.I guess that's the strange thing about getting older :)
roewedge Ahh Garbage such a good band! =)
Muy hermosa en esta entrevista!!
And then "I know what you're doing" plays during the commercial break...now I really miss the 90's
omg amazing :-)!!!! thank you for uploading!
That clip wasn't from the pilot. It was from "Phage".
She's having so much fun here. Love Kate Mulgrew. XD
I'm comforted to know that there's another human being on this planet that could have answered that question.
She is so awesome. Love her.
She is sooo much better than the woman they had originally cast as Janeway.
She's has such charisma.

I miss the 90s lol.
I love this
I love Jon Stewart and I love Kate Mulgrew.
@TangiableArc: She was saying "That's a very odd clip to show". I guess she was surprised that they chose that particular clip.
In 1995.... Kate Mulgrew was a super fine example of womanhood. So distinctively pretty.
She had the best hair.
21 years... wow.
SiliconValleySky now 24 years
Now 25
This was the day I was born!
I was only 6 years old when this interview aired.
She kept saying "thats for you" and "do you like it" after giving John the lunchbox because he never thanked her for it.
God, I miss the 90s.
Holy crap I thought this guy first appeared on TV like 5 years ago! *mind blown*
Great jacket, btw!
Kate looks beautiful
I love 90's TV!
Love Kate Mulgrew - a brilliant actress.
I miss the 90's
I own the series on DVD : oh man, what a woman, nice, sexy, intelligent and tough ! She's amazing in the role of Janeway. Surprised that Voyager never went to Big Screen !!!!!!
It would have been direct to video. Like an Olsen Twins production.
Jean Pierre FREIRE I so disappointed it didn’t unfortunately it’s not going to happen now
Jean Pierre FREIRE blame it on the TNG movies which weren’t that popular for spoiling that chance
kate's just amazing o_o
I remember 7 freaking out over cheese cake in one episode. She took one bite and nearly had a big O right there because it tasted so good
Once Voyager was my favorite I just couldn't believe I never watched this show when it was in production! After finishing the last episode I ended up starting all over again and discovered I missed a bunch of episodes the 1st go 'round. She was really something. So gorgeous and captivating

Awesome Woman! and she got her start on Ryan's Hope! Unbelieveable!
Mark
Mark Moore have you seen the clip where she’s doing a radio play at 16 it’s probably the earliest footage available of her performing.
Kate is awesome
He is sooooo young!
My god, they are both so young!
Holy crap, they both look so young!
best Star Trek series - love Janeway
She was attractive here but was stunning on her appearance in Cheers season 4 episodes 24-26
I just had noticed it was the same Jon Stewart from his comedy show. I never seen him as a young man. He was unknown in Australia in the 1990s.
Holy 90's batman.... Still love this woman.
Since we're all saying how old we were when this clip aired, I was 8! :D
moccalou I was 14
@TangiableArc at 7.55-7.58 Kate "that was a very odd clip to show, wasn't it?
20 years goes by just like that.
I love how the music is an instrumental of Dionne Farris' I Know What You're Doing. What's next? Hopeless like a penny with a hole in it? :D
Great actress!
Brilliant actress and just as good as Captain Kirk and Picard and Sisko. Love her.
Check out The Principle trailer. This science documentary about recent observations that question the Copernican Principle narrated by Kate Mulgrew. It is due for release likely in May 2014.
Awesome as Janeway then, awesome now as Red.
ChristianIce 7 of 9 only exists because of the casting couch there wouldn’t have been any Voyager without Kate
@Blue Rain
She was good, but the setup with Crusher-Mother/Son was better for the story and for the overall cast.
If she did the 1st season nobody would have asked for better.
@Blue Rain
That maybe true, but she wasn't there for the 1st season, and that made all the difference.
Wow this is sooo old.. :D
And shes aging so wonderfully, though i'm still in denial of the fact . lol
I didn't know Jon Stewart had a show like this.
@Parthur721 season one was filmed in 1994
No Janeway on DS9, but there have been Ferengi on Voyager. Twice, actually. Once in the Voyager pilot, part of which takes place on DS9, in which we see Quark. Actually there are numerous scenes of them consuming LOTS of different kinds of food throughout the run of the show so she was quite off on that prediction
I never watched Voyager when it was in production so a few months ago I started watching every episode in order on Netflix and it quickly became my favorite show. After viewing the last episode was rather sad because now it's over :(
thebakerman1 she meant nobody eats non replicated meat in the federation they’re supposed to be vegetarian
Love this woman
Damn, classic...
She’s the toughest Captain ever love her
