    Good stuff. Thanks for putting that Tile Size by compute type chart. Very interesting results.

    In a rush? Just check the first 2 or 3 minutes as reference, that pretty much sums it all up! The rest goes into more details and gives more of a why than just the what! Almost no-one just uses the default blender, and following along with tutorials that can make some things a bit strange, is this because it's a new version? Or maybe just a setting change not mentioned in the video? Here are all of our common ones! There's more than i thought even though we try to keep everything as default as we possibly can! :)

    2.82 on Mac. In Preferences> Viewport > Quality there is no Multisampling option and there is an extra checkbox "Overlay Smooth Wires"

    On the 'import images as planes' options, you chose 'shadeless'. Can you explain what that means exactly? What's the purpose of that option versus Principled? Thanks. Had no idea that this supported video, that's pretty damn cool.

    • @AidyBurrows3D
      @AidyBurrows3D  4 года назад +6

      Hi! No worries, 'shadeless' just means to not be affected by shading, so the lights (or the dark for that matter) in the scene have no effect on the brightness of the image when rendered. Whereas geometry using an image plugged into a principled shader would be affected by shading, so if no lights were in the scene it would just simply be black. You could almost think of it like this, the principled shader behaves like most typical real world surfaces, wood, metal, plastic etc. And the 'shadeless' is using an emission shader, which kind of behaves like a backlit tv screen, but with some node trickery we can have it so that it doesn't even produce lighting onto other geometry and so is completely 'shadeless' unaffected by other lights and doesn't affect anything else with it's light. Hope that makes sense! :D

    0:29 I haven't got the option to Multisample it in mine. Was that changed in 2.83?

    I get faster render with 64 x 32 combining gpu + cpu, faster than 64 x 64

    • @AidyBurrows3D
      @AidyBurrows3D  4 года назад

      good point! I suspect for wider aspect ratios that would actually make more sense, I wonder if Greg Zaal's auto tile size addon that comes with it by default takes into consideration the combined gpu and cpu? May need to test when next have a load of renders to do. :)

    At ~22 mins tools disappeared in the upper-right corner of main viewport. I can't get the way how

    • @AidyBurrows3D
      @AidyBurrows3D  4 года назад +1

      a! You know what, it's possible I don't actually show how to change that! Although it's a minor cosmetic change it does give slightly more space, it's all in the preferences, the first is the interface tab > Navigation Controls, those are just disabled, and the other change in that area is in the Viewport tab > 3d viewport Axis (Simple Axis) - instead of interactive navigation. Hope that helps! :)

      @@AidyBurrows3D yes, I've changed controls to simple axis already. Thank you very much for the answer and for your videos!

    Hello I have a question, Do you have to save this options as the initial preferences? I don't know if the next time I'm gonna open blender all this changes are gonna be there

    • @AidyBurrows3D
      @AidyBurrows3D  4 года назад

      by default the changes are auto saved, notice how here at the top right of the user prefs... ruclips.net/video/18pEnEB6_-s/видео.html there is a 'save preferences' button, with an asterisk (meaning i need to hit that button to save the changes), the 3 lines next to it often called the burger bun i think! :D Anyway more saving options are in there. :)

    2.82 has no wireframe hot key, what to do?
    anyone?

    • @AidyBurrows3D
      @AidyBurrows3D  4 года назад

      you mean the section at around 20:13? That's strange, for me that option is still there for any of the blender 2.8x versions in the viewport overlays menu, what does that menu look like for you?
