I wasn't afraid i just didn't think it was possible. Then i got to a point where it was impossible without help. Just do an honest evaluation of your situation. Only you will know ultimately and your the only one who can fix it long term. Just dont do your "honest" evaluation when you're either intoxicated or hungover. It is not a good situation for making good decisions concerning alcohol.

Grateful that I’ve reached the stage where I don’t miss drinking alcohol at all.

I burned a lot of time even just last year by drinking. I stopped a number of times but always went back to drinking because I continued to treat it like it was unavoidable. Going on a date, hanging out with a particular friend, going on a vacation etc. I actually tried to keep my birthday a secret from my neighbors so they didn't have an excuse to try to party with me and basically guilt me into drinking. That didn't work out. Sure enough, I made plans to have dinner with a friend next door and she turned it into a surprise party and someone bought me an expensive bottle of whiskey. I can't help but think that was some sort of test or message.
It took a long time but I finally decided I had to stop caring about what other people thought. I've come to the realization that I've actually wanted to stop drinking for at least a decade but have been using it either to deal with boring or bad situations or because I thought drinking was the correct and appropriate thing to do. You know what's best for yourself and if you don't want alcohol to be a part of your life then stop kidding yourself and make the change now.

I'm coming up on 90 days but thought Id see way more physical changes in terms of weight loss. Did you only start seeing that weight loss with daily exercise?

I was drinking about 1500 calories in wine and beer per day. When I quit doing that the weight started slowly coming off. About 2 months in I decided to get really serious about eating right and working out. Then the weight loss ramped up big time! Use a calorie calculator to find your maintenance and then cut that number by about 500 calories per day. You will have to count your calories daily, but the weight will come off.
