Today we test and install a Racingline Turbo Inlet Elbow for MK8 GTI's and Golf R's!
We dynoed our car before and after to see the horsepower differences and do a quick DIY to show you how to install it!

i really needed this video this morning... i am about to sell my Racing Line inlet hose I bought from you. (and thanks for being a sponsor). It just doesnt fit with my Turbosmart Plumbback valve.. it is such tight clearance that i can't even fit a HOSE CLAMP in the gap to lock it down. plus, i feel i might loose some pedal feel with it, but i look forward to watching this now to find out.

I installed a turbo inlet pipe, inlet hose, hi flow performance oiled air filter, removed the air box snow/rain grate, cut open the blocked stock air intake on the right side on my MK7 and definitely noticed a smoother, quicker acceleration. Throttle response at all rpm’s and spool up is appreciably is better as well. Easy affordable DIY mods.
I did the same exact thing on my MK7 and I agree. Sounds throatier on boost too
Here in the uk 🇬🇧 what you did is known as the PikeyR600.
I gained 45 bhp on a stage one remap but a further 30 by doing the PikeyR600 and fitting one piece turbo inlet pipe.
Very nice gains for £200. I already had a panel filter so my 2016 TTS was 318bhp on the before dyno.
Hopefully this applies to the Mk8 Golf too.

Take this with a grain of salt, after I went stage 2 on my S3 and bought a dragy I ran a 11.72 with the stock inlet and k&n filter on my second pass, I bought an MST inlet with the silicone hose and wow it felt that the car breathe better and it feels faster, guess what, I dragy between 15-20 passes on the same spot but different days, even with better DAs I was never able to beat the 11.72 pass 🤦♂️

I'm glad to see they moved the secondary airline from the turbo inlet pipe to the airbox. That could be pretty rough to get off on the Mk 7. Wonder how aftermarket air box companies will deal with that moving forward.
PVC inlet moved off the turbo elbow to I’m guessing a port on the turbo.
SAI is same spot on the air filter box.
I'm guessing they are going to deal with it how they did with the cbfa mk6...

Great results and it actually looked like it went in easier than a MK7. Now if we can get an ECU/TCU tune out this MK8 will be a beast

Never modded my Mk7 but thanks to your content, I picked up a MK8 because I couldn’t get an R. So far very happy, have the Oettinger body kit and I’ve ordered the R paddles and well as the gas strut. Looking at the ESC valved exhaust, this part would be right at home as the next mod. Keep up the great content!

I updated my inlet elbow and hose on my 17 a3 and noticed a big difference in sound and power. Much smoother and less restrictive.
I just got my IE intercooler and apr charge pipes with turbo muffler delete so i need this hahaha. Love my mk8 and appreciate all your guys install videos!!

Seems like most of the properly engineered turbo inlets usually add smaller, but decent gains for the price. also definitely enjoy watching your videos Paul!
One of the first mods I did along with the air duct modifications, definitely a difference in pickup and responsiveness

I just picked up the 034 motorsports "insuction bundle" for my S3 . It is the drop in air filter, turbo inlet and turbo inlet pipe. I am about to go to stage 2 with 034, also have a CTS 3.5 inch downpipe. Can't wait! I knew that an enhancement to the stock air box is all that is needed with the MQB platform
I’ve got a mk8 22 I just got a neuspeed intake. Love the sound and easy install the inlet tube is next on my list. Can’t wait.

Paul, always enjoy watching your videos. I’m not a mechanic and I don’t play one on TV. I have a toolbox with the tools in it… a screwdriver, a hammer and a credit card. I know one of those will fix it. But as much of a novice as I am, I actually think I could do this.

I’ve always wanted to hear the difference in sound. I think it would help performance. I put a R intercooler on my Mk7 GTI and saw a little on my butt dyno but the big deal is the 2 mpg my average went up. Great video
Best thing is there was no loss in the low-end. In fact the increase in low-end torque looks to be more of a delta than most other places in the rev range. Seems to be a win indeed.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much hp/tq gain this inexpensive turbo inlet pipe gave. Makes me want to get a new one for my MK7 GTI, even though I already have one on it haha.

I like that they moved that PCV hose off the inlet elbow, so much easier to install.
