I love how Charles is slowly becoming a multi instrumentalist genius composer, it’s so fun to see him progress through the years! It’s so inspiring, it shows that even the best can be better than they were before. Cheers, Charles!
Bro, anyone who can play either instrument at his level can easily play the other at at least a semi-professional level. He's likely good at piano too I'd guess.
I think Paul Simon would be proud to have written a song that can sound this beautiful. Gorgeous arrangement, perfect execution, great respect for the source material, and unbelievable artistic ability on top. This is what unique talent and hard work looks like, and we're all enriched to bear witness. Thank you Charles!
I love that you kept the vocal harmonies in your version. I really shouldn't have been surprised that a maestro would manage that, but this is, indeed, hauntingly good. Thank you for posting this fuller version!
Before youtube; how many other deep feeling, talented people sat on the edge of their beds expressing themselves through playing music that we shall never know about ? This young man is very fortunate indeed.
I think about that often. Imagine how many amazing songs from the 60s, 70s, 80s 90s and so on that could have been major hits but were never heard by anyone but the author.
Quite frankly, that was an absolute masterpiece, both in terms of your playing and the composition of that piece!! You still surprise and impress us on a regular basis! Outstanding - as always!!
Simon & Garfunkel never sounded better. This song came out when I was about 5. I remember hearing it on the radio and by the time I was on elementary school it was one of favorites. As I grew older I started to really listen to the lyrics. One of the best songs of the 60's and still makes we think of society and the 'what ifs' - Charles once again you have blown me away.
Good Lord, the most beautiful rendition of The Sounds of Silence I’ve ever heard…totally gave me the chills. You are absolutely amazing. I could listen all day❤️
I started crying hearing this because it's so well done and beautiful! No one, and I mean no one, plays the bass guitar better than you as far as I'm concerned.
La tua capacità di essere estremamente melodico anche negli assoli è eccezionale.... Una canzone già bellissima l'hai resa indescrivibile nella profondità dell'emozione senza parole... Eccezionale come sempre
As a cellist of nearly 6 years (not an extremely long time, but it's 40% of my life,) I love your fretless bass renditions. It would be so nice to hear Humoresque No. 7 by Dvorak on this instrument, if you could spare the time. But anything you play is just fine!
So glad you did a full rendition of this song. Was really moved by the one you did in a short a while ago! Cant get enough of theses fretless bass slide harmonics!
Tell me guys! Am i the only one who think Charles is underated on RUclips... Less than 2 millions sub... He deserves at least 9 millions and more... Let us help him achieve that...
Paul Simon was one of my life long music habits. Most known for his fantastic lyrics, he also picked some mean tones as well. He was always happy to see another artist trying to better him; I think he would have liked your take on it. Awesome!
A beautiful rendition that not only does justice to the original, but reminds me that silence is not always a good thing, and not to be passive but but proactive.
Charles always delivers, if someone else was putting out this quality I'd be floored. To think we can listen to a video like this and practically have come to expect it here 👌🏻
My appreciation Charles of your music, let’s me feel, every time, what I’ve learnt experiencing being one of mankind really truely means! Thank you again….. for being like the music naturally simply moving loving energy. Kia ora. 🌏💜

I love all you slappidy slap content, but the more emotional side of your music touches me a lot as well! This one might be my favorite along with Mad world you released some years ago ;)
Great arrangement! This reminds me of the original recording of S of S by Simon and Garfunkel on the 'Wednesday Morning 3AM album'. Like this, that original version has no drums or electric guitar piece, which makes it sound hollow and haunting.
What a beautiful sound that instrument makes. It reminds me of the cello I played in high school, but much, much better. Edited to add that you're a very accomplished musician as well. I enjoyed it.
I would have never dreamed that song would get more awesome first Simon and Garfunkel Paul Simon wrote then Disturbed blew it away now with Charles you just blew it away again that was beautiful man hats off bass man

Charles, you really have to cover the song "The Fatherless And The Widow" by Sixpence None The Richer. It would be epic.
Have you tried the multipoint pairing at all?

'Sounds of Silence' was my graduation song in 1970. This is the most beautiful version I have ever heard.
It’s definitely up there with Disturbed’s cover. They both beat the original.

May I suggest Antoine Boyer's version ?

Probably my favourite song of all time. Absolutely beautiful rendition!
The way you articulate harmonics on both the fretless and acoustic make for a really evocative piece! Chilling as always Charles \m/
harmonics are such a cheatcode for string instruments... everything just sounds better with em

I am digging the longer videos. This was a great composition. The fretless bass works really well with the vocal harmony.
Finally, been waiting for you to do a full cover of this song, your fretless bass sound is just so beautiful, I could listen to it for hours. ❤
Quite frankly, that was an absolute masterpiece, both in terms of your playing and the composition of that piece!!

A wonderful version. Thank you.
Music teacher: What's up with your bass? It doesn't have any frets? Oh well. I'll let it slide.
Good one man

Acoustic guitar and fretless bass's collab is gorgeous

I'd like to see Charlie actually having a bass-off with Mark King.
how you can make such an Ode to 4 + 20 is simply beyond me. you are a true Legend.
I absolutely love it. Could listen to it looping for hours, it's just perfection as always. Thanks Charles 🙂
I love the harmonics! I've recently been working on them myself and it's really cool to see them in action!

The song 🎵 is the title sounds of silence. Sort of like eyes wide shut!!! Beautiful job!!!!
I had no idea bass guitar could ever sound like that. Charles is one of my favorite musicians.
There's some amazing talent on RUclips, and Charles is right up there with the best.
Very nice. I can't think of another single person who can perform such a beautiful duet.

That was a great adaptation. Thank you, Charles.
BRAVO!! Another masterpiece. This is one of my all-time favorite songs, and this one tops the list!
WOW!! Even S&G didn't perform this song this well. Bravo, Charles!!👏👏👏
Great arrangement. The harmonics are otherworldly!
The first time I heard this song was when my first grade teacher played it for the class. Back then it was on a vinyl 33 (LP). That was 1970!
That was about the most beautiful piece I've ever heard! Just beautiful! Thanks for giving us a great way to end a day!
I love the piccolo bass on this one! Acoustic too!
So inspiring for my own bass playing! Even though this blows away anything I've ever done, it keeps me motivated! Excellent cover!
Brilliant arrangement! Lovely contrasts between verses.
No need to put electric guitar to thrash can. I can give it a caring home in Finland.
Amazing as always. Gave me chills. The bass is stunning too😊
I love how the bass plays out of my left speaker and the acoustic plays from the right. Nice touch.
Sometimes things move us. I'm in that space where this just happened to move me. God bless you, Charles. Fine job
What a stunning rendition of a timeless classic...you are indeed the world's greatest bassist, without doubt
