I got this for roughly retail and I'm okay with that for a ONE TIME buy. Old Forester has a very strong line up that is too available. The prices of some of these releases are getting out of hand. When you listed all of those available age stated bottles, I agree. When I think of the price of this bottle and M10b, etc, it just makes me roll my eyes at this point. I got a M10b 2023 through a trade and it ended up being way under cost for me, but I wouldn't actually ever pay retail for it, it's just too expensive for me. I got burned after Maker's CA (which I got for retail and traded lol). Like you, I'm stepping back a lot and questioning prices because there is just TOO much good whiskey on shelves everywhere that gets ignored because it doesn't say LE on it or doesn't come from sazerac. I'm in this for good whiskey and fun. And good whiskey is the one you can find and that works for your budget. Some people just won't buy certain things our of principle and I get it. Good content! Cheers!
I passed last month because of the $115. Lucked up and got a 1792 twelve year for $60 today way better deal cheers
Cheers my friend! Was curious if this 1924 was worth it... Glad I didn't splurge on it.
You know I give it how it is!!!
Russell's Reserve 10 for $30-$40 all day long!
I think with bottles like this, when it comes to value proposition, I have to ask myself…is this better than Rare Breed or a Knob Creek single barrel for @ $60….
There is still a ton of Calumet 15 around me for $99. Stomps all over 1924. Definite no go.
That's is crazy. I see it in my ares for $150
You underestimate the consumers willingness to throw their money away.
Trails End 10 year Garryana finish, 105 proof Heaven Hill sourced, $60ish.
I passed in this twice this past month because of the price. I’d rather hunt down the black label 100 proof
Honestly that’s probably a better use of your money!!
It's about time someone told the damn truth about this bottle 🎉
This is one of those cases where all alone, it's probably okay, but in context of the whole market or in a flight of competitors, it will get stomped all day.
How is a 10 year age stated product from a legacy distillery that has very few high-age offerings only worth $5/year? That makes absolutely no sense. Today's market is more around that $10/year mark unless it's like Dickel or something. Yes, KC12 is cheaper. I have both bottles and enjoy both bottles, but there is a reason KC12 is cheaper. You should try blinding this bottle rather than just parroting other takes you've seen online.
🤙🥃🐶
Thanks for the information. Great video.
Trev sounds like an evangelist. Testify!
Solid review! Saw it at BevMo for 130.00 and passed:)
Wrench strikes again agreed dropping it like its hot...
Maybe the pricing will come in line with JD10 at some point?
Man I couldn’t agree more with buddy. If the price was 80.00 it would be on par
Greetings wrench. Looking forward to sip later. Take care… $129 by me… 🖕🏽boycott ppl!!! Or till the price is more realistic… 🙏🏽
Your drunken, live rant was better lol but only slightly. Good stuff as always!
I agree with your assessment. Tried this at a local bar and thought it was decent but I'd never pay $115 for it. Thinking like you are, $70-$80 max.
They are competing with themselves. This is a cash grab bottle. Old Forester is simply capitalizing on the insanity of the FOMO bourbon market where everybody buys and flips but not enough actually open the dang bottles. Now we get price gouged stuff like this as a result.
Boom! "Ouch! My foot!" - Brown-Forman. Timing is everything. Releasing this overpriced product just before the peak bourbon bubble burst may prove disastrous. As of May 2024, overall prices have stabilized and age statements are reappearing. Expect to see big boys to buy struggling smaller craft distilleries. Note Beam Black upgrading to 7 year and upping the proof from 86 to 90. HH did the same with 1783 in 2023. Too much quality, reasonably priced. bourbon out for BF demand this exorbitant price.
Completely agree! 1920 at the local Sam’s just went up in price to 48.00 bucks
