Great review! Appreciate your information and honest feedback as always. I picked up a bottle at my local store ($130) and didn’t feel great about the price. However, this is the first new bottle in a while which I really enjoyed and should be available to most people eventually. It’s giving me some younger King of Kentucky vibes. OF might be able to justify the price to more people if they rebranded 1924 to “Prince of Kentucky!” Very happy with my purchase especially given how many $60-$80 bottles I have which are nothing special. I would rather have 1924 than two average $60-$80 bottles any day of the week!
You guys should do a blind between the 100 proof Old Forester products like I did! 1924, 1897, 117 series bottled in bond, and 100 proof black label store pick! 1st and 4th place was easy to determine but 2nd and 3rd place was coin flip so close! My results were 1st: Black label store pick obc kitchen 2nd: 117 series bottled in bond 3rd: 1924 4th: 1897
I don’t understand the infatuation with an age stated product that is so much more expensive than the others. Eagle Rare 10 - $45; KC9 - $40; KC12 - $70; RR10 - $40; Henry McK 10 - $68; Bulleit 10 - $55; ECBP 10+ - $80… and all the others… how can people balk at the price of WT Generations and not this?
I think you need to try it before complaining about the price. This is really good. Maybe not as good as JD12, but offers a great drinking experience. 10 years and 100 proof is like OFBB some years. Everybody complains about not being able to find OFBB, not the price.
@@cartermayfield To argue in this way, you are temporarily suspending the FACT that there are other great products out there that ALSO taste great at lower price points. Just because this particular product has a pleasant flavor doesn’t justify the price. You guys have got to stop coming to the defense of these companies. They are making hand over fist, are increasing prices like crazy, and are limiting distribution, and you guys are coming to their defense like you owe them something when you don’t.
I think everyone thinks it’s gonna be birthday bourbon lite, even though the same people whine about how bad birthday bourbon has been the last two years… loo
Great vid, appreciate the review. If OF wants this to be a “shelf stable”, why is it part of the limited availability where you can only purchase once per month?
I’ve been hearing otherwise. This is a once a year release. I have a bottle and enjoy it. I wish it was more available. I’m actually good with the price, if it was available.
Yeah it's crazy right now on the information we are hearing about this this bourbon right now. With that said I still do think they are going to have a lot available.
Brown-Forman is starting to get on my nerves. First they said JDSBBPR was going to be a regular release, still hasn’t happened. Then they said JD10 and JD12 will start being more accessible, still hasn’t happened. Now they claimed that this was supposed to be part of whiskey row and a regular release, and instead they only send maybe a case or two at most to stores, and then they never know when they’re gunna get more of it.
Thanks guys, love your reviews. I'm going to be in Louisville 1/30 - 2/1, do I need to book a tour to buy one of the bottles, or can I just visit the distillery and purchase one? I wasn't clear based on Zach's comment about it only be available thru the end of January and with tours. Thanks for clarifying if you can...
After 2nd wave of hype ,this will sit on shelves like the rest of there whiskey row at that price.....the Blue an black label sib is only thing purest go after ....
Is it expensive for a 10 year bourbon compared to others 10 year shelfer’s? Yea, but then again I don’t see anyone complaining about paying $185 (msrp) for Michters 10 year bourbon……
Michter's is barrel strength and it's better, IMO. Many of the 2023 barrels were 15-17 year old barrels. That's special whiskey, not OF heat cycled whiskey.
Price is price. You act like they are the only ones to cash grab. We get it and we review and We tell you what we think. The price and all. If that is promoting then we promote everything because we try to buy it all so it can be reviewed. You can do with the information we provide to buy or not buy. Thanks for watching though...
My local liquor store guy was nice enough to save me a bottle when they got a case. It is delicious, best new bourbon I’ve had in a while. Would love to see a lower price point, but juice itself is fantastic.
Great notes. What I love about this is that there is that deep molasses and tar note at the core of every KoK, and in this bottle, you can see the cloud forming. That darkness comes off a bit like cocoa dust, but you can see the evolution. I tasted this next to JD12 and this year’s M10B to see how that flavor develops with age. (1924-> JD12 -> M10B)
I've got 5 black top 1 litre Early Times BIB bottles in my bunker for the same money youse guys paid for this one bottle. And its probably a 700 ml! Didn't realize I was a such freaking genius until I this shill fest. I'm out!
So, in another 1-2 years, Michter's 10 will be switching from BF stock to Michter's stock, so this 10 year offering, on the Early Times/KoK mashbill, is probably picking off the KoK stock that is not suitable for another 5-6 years of aging. Whereas until now, those barrels became Michter's 10 year.
Can you please compare/contrast the 117 Series BIB from 2023 against this new 1924 bottle? The price suggests it could be the same product, but how does the taste compare? Same thing with one more year of aging? Inquiring minds want to know!
Finally found a bottle of OF1924 at a liquor store in the Legends area of KC. $250.00! No way! They also had George T Stagg at $1,500 and Weller CYPB for $1,200. 🤦🏼♂️
Most of the complaints ive seen are over the price. The price does suck but if you can get it at msrp and you liked whiskey row, i dont think you'll have buyers remorse. I get there are comparable age statement bourbons that are cheaper and I like many of them as well. Drink and share with friends. Its the experience that matters, you're not marrying the bottle.
If I see it I’ll get one but that will be it. I can get two 1920 for what this cost. And that’s what I will do. I like the Russell 10 not as much as the single barrel but it’s 40 in my area. I don’t understand why it’s this price other than they can.
Hoping the “take the tour in January and buy a bottle deal” is still going on next week at the distillery. I don’t mind grabbing one and taking it back to my bourbon friends in WA to try. Anyone have first hand knowledge that this is still a thing?

Yup 100%
I agree don't even plan on getting this the price is just stupid for something that's not even special

I’m not a fanboy but I do like the story. It’s a fun release I won’t buy, but I am glad you’re enjoying it.
I’m sure the juice in the bottle is super tasty. That price no way can justify it. At least to me.
I'm excited to buy at least one bottle of 1924 if it hits VA, and hopefully it wont be allocated like everything else we get. 🥃
I am hoping to find this bottle in my area soon-it sounds AMAZING!
I’d rather buy two 1920s a 130 dollar price tag is ridiculous
Great vid, appreciate the review. If OF wants this to be a “shelf stable”, why is it part of the limited availability where you can only purchase once per month?
There is a Cinnabon bread at the store it’s good

lol that beanie
anytime you see me in a beanie, haircut is long overdue

They may offer both ways, but the way to ensure you get it will be through a tour. In that timeframe
Held a bottle & it was offered to me at $299.00, going to wait it out.
Why 300, its not even allocated, thats just scummy.
There will be 300-500k bottles released this year. Just wait.

limited release according to press release however
Limited release but making it part of the whiskey row series is a fail.
i found this in the wild for $130. some ripoff it for $700. RIDICULOUS!
I have a feeling this might be 2024’s “ cellar aged “ as far as availability goes …
Availability will be very large in a few months.
I was under the impression it was an annual limited release .
I am not even tempted by this release. The price is insulting, period.
Won’t buy it at this price point. Makes no sense. It’s a cash grab and shame on you guys for promoting it

This is over priced, early times bib with a short finish.

$115 before taxes and markups, Nope! No FOMO here.
I bought mine for $130.. Cheaper than Michter's 10 and other aged bourbons
$65, maybe... >$80 Hard pass!
$115 for this? Nah, not when knob 12 is $48. Of is wild

I would buy 2 1920's over this any day of the week
Have you had it?
@cartermayfield no, I'll buy a pour of it at some point but at 115ish I will not be buying a bottle of it
@@cartermayfielddont need to to think the price is dumb.
Depends. Haven't tried it but if great would u pay $120 for a baby King of Kentucky? All Day, Every Day. @@LeatherDaddy97
Some people like quantity over quality. To each their own.

It’s not that great. Save your 120 bucks for 3 bottles of ER
good luck finding 3 bottles of ER. HAHA
The reports are that 10% in the mashbill was indeed reported as malted barley so yes, same mashbill as Early Times, King of Kentucky and Michter's 10.
Interesting. So, this 10 yr BF stock is becoming OF1924 instead of M10B? Hmm 🤔
Im out on this one. Msrp is a joke.
At $115 a bottle it sure curbs your enthusiasm.
Cheaper than Michter's 10 and other aged bourbons.
Can you please compare/contrast the 117 Series BIB from 2023 against this new 1924 bottle? The price suggests it could be the same product, but how does the taste compare? Same thing with one more year of aging? Inquiring minds want to know!
maybe we can do that soon

Big fan of Old Forester. I have the Black & Blue label single bottles. I was able to pick up the 1924 at $130, but yet to open it. Great review.

It’s not gonna be an everyday bourbon. It’s once a year and only 3 years from what i hear.
1920 is my jam all day everyday
OF Birthday Bourbon is $149 msrp. Is this supposed to be on the same level?
its close to the same age as OFBB
BB doesn't have an age statement any more :P But yeah, it's stupid.
I’m going to have to try it before I buy. I luv OF but $115 for a 10yr. ER $50 Henry McKenna $60 KC 12 $80. 😮
