Jeff's rig was just off-road christened, we've seen worse and they've survived. If it were mine, I'd buy it back from insurance if they write it off. As for the B-pillar, nothing a porta-power couldn't push back in place , it would be good enough for what Jeff needs it for. I don't know if I'd even bother with dents. It's got history.

Jeff’s a tough guy alright. Love his setup one more thing he needs is a satellite communicator…. Send and receive text messages anywhere. I’m 70yrs old a love exploring in my jeep, and yes sometimes by myself. I’ve carried an InReach mini for a few years now and love it. Never be let down check in with the family every day where I leave the pavement can where I camp. They get my location and send back a reply. I can put my plan on hold for the months I’m not using it. I wouldn’t leave home without it.

You won't necessarily die from making one bad decision and getting stranded. It usually happens when it happens too far off the usual path, you have no supplies, shelter, and clothing.
Merlin reminds me of the story of Emile Leray who broke down in the desert. "He built a desert motorcycle out of the parts of a broken-down Citroën 2CV in 1993, while on a solo trip in Morocco. His car broke down in the middle of the Sahara when he accidentally hit a rock which damaged his car's chassis. He was stranded twenty miles from the nearest settlement, with only enough food and water to last ten days.[1] To survive, Leray created a motorcycle out of parts of his broken-down car twelve days later. When the police finally caught up with him, a heavy fine was levied against him because the registration did not match the vehicle."

Mr. Merlin - this is way off the topic of this video but involves a video I truly believe you would be watching with a big grin on your face. A group of elderly characters that do remote backcountry trips in Model T era vehicles that got stranded back in the woods after a significant rain storm. Involves Model T's and similar vintage Studebaker (if I remember correctly) stuck in mud, an entertaining elderly gentleman wondering back into the woods by himself with a broken pail to put out a fire caused by a lightning strike, almost stepping on a rattlesnake and similar events. All the while these elderly guys, real characters, in their vintage cars are providing the greatest entertaining conversations.
It's usually a poor idea to recommend videos for someone else to watch but I truly believe you, with your Model T experience, would enjoy enjoy this. Wouldn't be suprised if you wanted to join these guys in their next adventure.

@@OffYourBeatenPath71 I was born in 63 and he looked about 10 years older than me (if I'm any good at judging age) and it wasn't meant as a ridicule whatsoever.

You got to give it to Jeff being handicapped in-all to get himself and sparky the kitten out of the truck and walk best part of a mile in his condition I tack my hat off to him that's a determination to live the guy has had his fair share of bad luck in his life but he's getting on with it, congratulations to fire department and the search and rescue service but most of all to you Merlin Brad and Nicol for doing this recovery you really helped this gentleman out this was a fantastic job well done, Merlin you got to give it to the Japanese they can build a almost bullet proof truck and the look on your face when it started up said a thousand words, thank you Merlin for a brilliant video I totally enjoyed watching it.
