I would have like at least 1 more episode to wrap up storylines better - and I am happy they did finish up Season 3 during Covid and hoping more to come.

🐈‍⬛ You are spot on with your review.
I feel no more is necessary.
I think it was rushed and not worthy, this is fully due to Covid restrictions.

Yeah I wish I’d mentioned that in the video tbh because they do deserve a nod for persevering during such awful times. I think I just expected more because it had so much potential!

Gosh, just finished the last episode. Well, I'm sorry, this is going to be a loooong one. Bear with me.
I'd say season 3 is okay but not as good as the first two seasons. As you said, the different romances are pretty weak, while I think they previously managed to give a lot of depth to characters - and I was particularly impressed at how they managed to do it in season 2, despite the big changes in cast and crew and the turning upside down of story-lines. I think with season 3 the writing team was eager to close all the different narratives, but that came to the detriment of character development and character's arch, and I think we both agree on that.
My major issue in this regard is that Ms Heywood and Mr Colbourne never confront each other on the reason why they parted in the first place (him coldly firing her because clearly he has insecurities coz ex wife, which seem to have magically disappeared this season, and she later basically told him to go eff off and think about how bad he behaved). In S3 they just brood and crave for each other from afar, with no grudge or need for resolution of this major issue between them that triggered so much drama (for the viewers' delight!). It kind of feels like things have been pushed under the rug never to be addressed again (very British though). Poor mr Starling just feels like a giant plot devise with little soul in this equation. Charlotte seems to be fleeing him at all time, which doesn't really fit with her previous characterisation as a smart and bold woman (yes we completely lost her in this season). All the reasons that delay her reuniting with Colbourne seem a bit too classic in the writers playbook (including that last "oh big misunderstanding" final episode). It makes their respective characters feel more superficial and lacking dimension, despite all the intricacies that season 1 and 2 had set in place.
I think some of the plots were "fixed" pretty quickly, which could have been more substantive and suspenseful. Georgiana's trial for example could have been extended, and a good way to bring back Otis and then Ms Harmon in the equation still. I was also surprised no one from the Parker family came to defend the terrible lies mentioning Sydney. Big plot hole (or really terrible brothers ..). Above all, it would have given us more of the despicable mr Lockhart (Alexander Vlahos

Based on all of the road blocks this series faced right from Season 1 when it was set to put out 2 seasons and then cancelled and returned due to all of the fans voicing their disappointment ..so glad they listened to the fans I must say I actually think everyone should be applauded for the great job they did! Yes it was a little rushed because if they waited to much longer they would have lost the following of fans and because of COVID folks needed something romantic and positive to hang on to so, they did have to light a fire under the production of both seasons and because you love the characters so much you always want more and more details and that's what I would have loved but, it's obvious showing Colborne and Charlotte married and a family started they probably won't revisit this with a Season 4 but, if they did I would watch it! I bet if the producers asked all of the fans that were the true reason it came back if they wanted more I am thinking the answer would be yes ..I loved all three Seasons and I am still a huge fan and the romance is what we are looking for two thumbs up for me regardless of how rushed the writing was...hats off to all of the Producers, Actors and Teams of workers that put a series like this together; Thank you!!

Well, you did better than me, I still haven't watched it 😅 To be honest, I was very disappointed in S2, so I didn't expect S3 to be any better. I thought it was cartoonish and soapy and very predictable. I agree with what you said about the sets - they were so fake and the lighting was too bright. At times the sets in S1 were bad, but they also used historic buildings and more importantly lots of outdoor scenes, which were sadly lacking in the later seasons.
But my main reason for not watching S3 was my dislike of Colbourne and the fact that Charlotte became so wimpy and boring. I absolutely loved Charlotte in S1 and I couldn't bear to watch her marry that wet blanket 😂 Yes, I was a Sidlotte fan and I supported the show in good faith for that storyline to be completed, but I would have accepted a new story if it had been done better and more sensitively. It was like a different show and even less to do with Austen. Possibly, it should never have had her name on it. Season 1 was fun though! Enjoyed watching your analysis, thank you.

I haven't watched any of this yet! I may need to use it as a NaNoWriMo reward.
