It’s so good to see Aunt Peggy - so glad she’s with the fam!!🥰
you all probably dont give a damn but does anyone know of a trick to log back into an instagram account??
I was dumb forgot the login password. I would love any tips you can give me!
Simmering onions & butter with or without bacon is just a heavenly scent in the house. No doubt about it!
Good to know because I am allergic to pork!! Hugs!!
@@belindagreene1865 Try turkey bacon? :)
@@RedRoseSeptember22 thank you! I have tried turkey bacon it's ok .
I will have to try it with the tomatoes and okra!! Hugs
Bacon grease can on the stove. A southern staple
I think I'm one of the only people in my family that likes okra. This literally made my mouth water 🤤.
This is why I watch Paula. Real southern cooking without apology for using real ingredients. No vegan. No light. Just delish! Forever follow Paula's cooking.
,
This Bama girl always has a can of tomatoes and frozen okra for the same thing. Yum!
My daddy always had a garden so mama would make this with fresh tomatoes and okra. Mama also made breaded tomatoes. I would like to see you make that. Thank you for giving me a touch of home with mama and daddy
I’m growing the same in my garden ❤️❤️❤️
Succotash can have different variations. I've used butter beans, lima beans, and black eyed peas and I use fresh tomatoes.
Butter beans are good!!!
I made this, but changed it up where I crisped the bacon in the microwave with my bacon maker used the bacon fat for the sautéing and saved the crisp bacon to crumble on top. It also didn’t need the sugar. I used fresh tomatoes, green pepper and okra from my garden. I didn’t use the chicken base as I had some country ham pieces I pulled from the freezer and stirred in last few minutes. I added a can of blackeyed peas with the okra. My first time growing okra in the garden named the “pickle patch” It was so yummy we had seconds. The next time we will try grits instead of rice.
This reminds me of Gumbo which we love. I love this combo. The bacon is an added touch I like. This would be good with a good sausage in it too. So nice to see you again and Aunt Peggy is stealing the show again ( tell her I said so) lol How great she has you in her life ,she looks so happy. She is a blessing to you as you are to her. Thumbs up from Texas! xoxo
Okra ,that I've learned to love since a small child, came from a friend or relatives garden.
My Mom did a variation of this which included lima beans and corn. We served it over rice. BTW, bacon and onions were the base of many of her recipes. Thank you for bringing back those memories !
Bacon and onions are the base of great recipes around the world. ❤❤❤
Yum, yum, yum!!! One of my favorites. Thanks so much for sharing. Do you have a recipe for a tomato macaroni side dish?
Anything that STARTS with Butter and Bacon is automatically my favorite recipe. !!!! lol
I totally agree ❤
Love you Paula. (=luv ya Paula). Yep. My southern drawl is comin’ along! So’s ma cookin’! I thank ya! 😀🇨🇦
I like fried okra and green tomatoes.
Mmm that sounds so good :D I can't for Fall and Winter, best time for comfort food ♥♥♥♥♥
@@RedRoseSeptember22 I adore crispy, fried okra.
Ms. Paula you need a line of candles: butter, bacon, bacon & onion, fried chicken, etc.... all the yummy kitchen smells!!😋😘
Lol you're silly :P
Great recipe and never thought about bacon and also adding a little sugar!! Thanks Paula!! Hey I just wanted to mention I heard sometime back that okra is very good for the body because of the viscosity in it and I won’t go into more detail but search it out and you will want to add it to your diet and This recipe is awesome!!
You are one of my favorite people in this world ❤️ You are the Queen of Southern cooking , none better than you.
Aunt Peggy looks looks beautiful and Paula is doing her Okra and tomatoes recipe 👍
***DISCLAIMER -- I didn't grow up in the south, nor have I ever lived in the south*** ..... But I absolutely LOVE, lOVE, LOVE okra! Grew up with okra fresh out of my parents garden, along with the tomatoes and other garden-fresh veggies they planted every year here in California. Mama's pot of okra cooked with tomatoes, corn and crumbled up hamburger meat, along with a nice buttery piece of cornbread was a childhood favorite!😋❤
Mmm that sounds amazing!!! I want some lol XD
Was mama a southerner?
OMG 😍😍😍 this south Georgian loves okra and tomatoes and white rice. I was raised on it my Grandpa was a avid gardener and when okra and corn was in season creamed corn, okra and tomatoes was my favorite. No meat it wasn't needed. Thanks for the memories Paula this is making my Sunday dinner menu. Love All the way from Albany Ga.
Thank you, Paula. The okra and tomatoes look wonderfully yummy. I love you and have watched you for years. Safety and blessings for you and your family.
Love love you Paula , and so so appreciate your cooking right in your own kitchen right at home. God bless bless you and yours, always and forever.
Paula, you look so pretty, from hair to shoes n everything in between!! 😁. This side dish looks so good. I've just eaten okra in soup, but will definitely be making this. I love love love my veggies! Would you please show us your shrimp n grits??? I am hoping you will make it soon, please? Thank you! ❤️🐾
Morning Miss Paula and hey everyone! I can smell that bacon frying! I like to make it a little bit crisper before adding the onions, but yowza, that looks mighty good! Mmmm.
Miss Paula, are you back, now? Because you rook marvelous!!! And Aunt Peggy, too! Hey Aunt Peggy! Give us some of your secrets!
Wishing everyone blue skies...
LOVE okra and tomatoes. Growing up, my Mama never had okra and tomatoes left overs. We ate every last bit of it! (One of my favorite dishes.)
Looks good im going to make a big pot and use leftovers for veg soup
Oh my goodness, so many of your recipes are such southern staples in my life. I never knew measurements till seeing you. LoL. My daughter asked for tomato pie for Sunday dinner tomorrow. Hope your healing well after the eye procedure.😍
Try adding shredded roast chicken & serving over jalapeño cornbread with a dusting of sharp cheddar cheese.
Sooo good... I craved this when I was pregnant and ate it all the time. It was so healthy, too. Love you, Paula! ⚡️💖⚡️
Not with bacon and butter or rice it isnt.
I love Okra! And that looks very delicious with the bacon in it. I hope to try it someday. Lol. Have a good weekend Paula and your family!.
Mrs. Paula, I just made this dish and added a pinch of Cajun seasoning, some fresh thyme and oregano out of my garden, and it is absolutely scrumptious!!! Tastes like I’m at my Grandma’s on Lake Blackshear 30 years ago. Thank you for bringing this fabulous memory back into my life!!💜
Paula, you look lovely today. Did you get your hair did -or do you roll it like my sister used to do? Anyway, looks nice.
I love okra. I live in Michigan and this year my okra plants are taller than me!
We like hush puppies with our okra and tomatoes. :-)
Plz post a good hush puppy recipe!!! ❤️
Seriously, anybody post one :))
My mother used maple syrup instead of sugar. Yummy!
Super delicious way to eat those veggies! Can't wait to try this out one on my family. Thanks for sharing. Love and Peace to all XO
Thank you! I’ve been waiting for this recipe. Okra is my favorite ❤️
This recipe, for me....would be so good with fluffy dumplings! Can't wait to try it
In Texas, we call it okra gumbo. No bacon. Never put it over rice. It is a cafeteria staple.
Oh my stars! This is the best okra and tomatoes I’ve ever had!!!❤️
I love to see Aunt Peggy…. And I love okra and tomatoes, big wedge of buttered cornbread❤️I watch these over and over again…. Thank you Paula, love you so much!
I have never eaten Okra ... but it looks lovely 🇦🇺🤗
Try frying it first before any other way. If using frozen let it thaw some to where it gets a little slimy so the breading sticks good.Mix half & half flour and cornmeal. Cook it til its turning dark, undercooked is not so good. Use lots of salt & pepper when done. Also add some uncooked to vegetable soup if you make that.
It’s definitely a love hate kinda food. I kinda like it in my gumbo. Not a ton. I’m growing my own.
Got it on the stove cooking right now and tasted it! Oh my, I can hardly wait for dinner to be ready!
Your Aunt Peggy is the cutest...l will make this recipe soon. Sending hugs, prayers and kindness. 💕👍🏼🙏🏼💗🦋
I love okra. Btw, okra here in Brazil is called quiabo! I love north americans trying to speak words in brazilian portuguese hahaha. It’s so funny!
I can hardly wait to make this! I have never had okra like this!
I’m cooking ham with stewed tomatoes okra and rice for dinner!
Paula, that looks so good! Can you share your recipe?
The link for the recipe is in the description.
I could eat this until I get sick love okra and tomatoes
Perfect timing with this video! My husband just bought some okra at the farmers market and made your recipe immediately after watching your video. I didn’t even think I liked okra, but it was delicious! Please keep doing your quarantine videos...they are a bright spot in an otherwise difficult time. My only request? I would love to see Eddie make an appearance from time to time!
I need a Bacon grease tin! 😋
My mom keep it on the counter in an old lard (Crisco) can.
I love how much you love your family. Your sweet aunt cracked me up. Wanna tell me about your recipe? NOPE! Hahah!
Hi Paula, I love smoke sausage and shrimp in my okra and tomatoes.
I made this today. We absolutely loved it. Scarfed it! Until it was gone. Thank you. You are the best Paula. I have been watching and cooking with you all through quarantine and before. I love cooking in my kitchen with you.
Thank you for doing this for us.
Paula my 4 kids and I absolutely love your cooking style and we pray to one day be able to come to y'all's restaurant!!! I used to have a whole set of your pots and a cookbook but our house fire took them all 😢.
That bacon & onion air freshener would be a winner🏆
I just love you Paula! Watching your videos brings me a good warm feeling in my heart like i'm hanging out in the kitchen with my aunts sisters mama and mamaw. God bless and keep you and your family and friends.
I agree Paula, nothing like bacon and onions 👍🥰
Nice, thanks for sharing
We aways added cord to the okra and tomatoes, served either as a vegetable side dish, or thinner as a soup. One of my very favorite things.
Going to try this...best wishes for you and Aunt Peggy
Firstly,I would like to say that I love your McKenzie-Child’s teapot!
But here’s the thing:
You just blew my mind with the okra recipe.
I currently live in Ohio, but grr up in southeast Texas.
This is bayou country, not the stereotypical cowboy hat culture that most people associate with Texas.
Louisiana culture. And the loveley ladies in the school cafeteria, they were Cajun, and they were Creole.
Unlike today, where school food comes from foodservice cans, those ladies made everything by hand!
We’re talking about the 1970’s.
And their OKRA!!!!
Nothing beat that okra, fried and breaded, somehow with only the ghost of it’s infamous slime.
Even parents would come to school , in order to sit down with a plate of shrimp gumbo, and that heavenly side dish of perfectly prepared okra.
And don’t get me started on the peanut butter bars that they made.
Worth their eight in gold, truly...
Glad your feeling better Paula
I loveeee watching you cook & following your delicious recipes 🥰😋😋😋😋
Blessings to you and your family Mrs Paula!! ♥️♥️ I truly love okra and tomatoes!! My mama made it all the time growing up ♥️♥️
Wow! My granmomma had that same bacon grease can! ♥️❤️♥️❤️
I made this last night with some jalapeño cheddar cheese sausage over rice. It was a hit. Thanks Paula.
I love succotash, frozen okra, tomatoes and corn with green pepper onion and garlic almost just like you did. I don’t like Lima beans so I don’t add them. I love okra any kind of way. I too keep okra in my freezer. I never added the bacon but I must try it! Thanks for sharing!
Paula, I watched your new series on Fox Nation. Love it!! I was getting ready to cancel my Fox Nation subscription until I saw your series. I’m going to keep my subscription so I can continue to watch your new show, At Home with Paula Deen!
Can’t do okra lol but it’s nice to see you guys
Mom would have loved this dish!
I love Okra, Tomatoes,Onions, Corn, together and you can add Andouille Sausage. Mm Mm Good!
I have never tried okra this recipes looks delicious
This sounds amazing and so yummy. I cannot wait to give this a try with some bell pepper and some chilies too. Yummy
When you added the frozen okra, did you thaw it first?
love that skillet. what size is it?
Thank you so much for showing how to cook this. I love tomatoes and okra and used to get it all the time at a local restaurant but they went out of business several years ago. I haven't had any since they closed and I have really missed it.
Always love seeing Aunt Peggy❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
True southern move.... reserved bacon grease!! It's liquid gold to us southern women.
Paula I think I heard you say you don’t like tea, well I don’t either, never did. So I guess we are odd balls here in the South. Lol , but I do love okra.
If you have left over fried okra you can use it too. I love this dish if I'm feeling a little puny. It's comfort food for me.
This Lady & Sons Okra & Tomatoes recipe looks so delicious Paula.
That cut of tunic is perfect on you, real nice fit through the shoulders. Hello, from Canada!
My mother taught me to cook zucchini and tomatoes too❤🌹
I have been craving the pan with the lid that you're using!
Me, too. I need that size!
Yummy, hug’s from the Southern Outer Banks of NC! I’m so happy to see that you’re going to be on Fox Nation! ❤️😁
I’ve been waiting on this !!! ❤️❤️❤️
I remember when I first picked okra in the patch, I was itching all over ❤
I love fried okra.
I love your recipe!
Looks good but every time Ive tried okra it was “slimy”. Can anyone tell me is it just me?? Love you Paula! 💖
Umm..its supposed to be and that's what makes it delicious
Nope. It's not only you! I don't care for that slimy consistency much either! I've heard there's ways to lessen that - but don't know it off the top of my head.
You can fry it and it's not slimy. I cut my fresh and add cornmeal to coat and fry it up with a little salt and pepper.
Slime is the best so yummy
@@kathys8913 Thanks!
Looks good, maybe a dash of worchestershire too. I like chunky tomatoes and a little less okra.
Paula all Your dishes are just so delicious looking and for sure I bet they are yummy . i heard Yiu mention a smell of bacon scent. You should make a bacon candle.😍👍👍
BECAUSE IM SICK OF THE CAN STUFF THANKS PAULA ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Is this a southern dish? I’ve never heard of it but it looks good.
I just canned up a case and a half of tomatoes and okra today ( minus the bacon) yum
Good morning everyone. So good to see Aunt Peggy she is looking well. Ms Paula it looks good and I know it smell wonderful however I like my okra fried it's a texture thing for me.
