More Home Free stuff you should do (in order from "sure" to "no way")... Unchained Melody (just to warm up), In the Blood, Mayday, (yes, Tim can sing up here too), and finally Helplessly Hoping (incredible precision, and the best harmonies Home Free has built)
PLEASE Listen to Home Free : When a Man Loves a Woman, Austin gets the lead (the guy that you said has the best vocals). He sings in front of his woman (off camera) and you can tell his entire heart is in the song. It's AMAZING
I'll second this. This is the best cover of this song I've heard. It beats the original and is head and shoulders over the Michael Bolton cover. It is spectacular.
@@janhankins911 It's by far one of the best cover's of the song i heard, but yea no.... This was done during the Covid quarantine period and there are a series of them from Home Free that you might enjoy: "Quarantine", "Down to the Honkytonk (which has lots of bass), "Sunday Best" and "Meet in the Middle". There is also "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" with Peter Hollens.
Have you gotten to Home Frees "In the Blood"? You will enjoy it. If you want to view a showcase of Austin Brown (the guy in the center) check out "When a man loves a woman". Thanks for covering this one.
I actually fell in love with HomeFree through reactions videos. Thanks for giving me more. You might enjoy their version of “Moonshine” or “My Church”. The vocal talent and arrangements are worthy. Hope you are enjoying your journey...
This son was first recorded by Johnny Cash. ALL the sounds performed by Home Free were reminiscencent of trains, from the wail of Austin to the clack-clack of the beat-boxer Adam, to the inharmonic harmony of the train whistle/horn. Listen to the song again and concentrate on the TRAIN SOUNDS that they all produce. AMAZING!!
Like nearly everything they cover, Home Free did a remarkable job with this. They took some fun liberties with it too, as Cash himself often did on covers he performed. And, let’s face it, all of them are putting their own twist on Shel Silverstein’s original poem. I really enjoy your channel, Mr. Boyd. It’s a calm and thoughtful place. An interesting refuge in our times, from our times. It also validates much of my youth as I knew many of these songs were legendary after hearing them once or twice, as you are apt to do. I have not seen you ‘phone one in’ yet and I expect I won’t. Thank you.
First time that I ever heard them was a video on RUclips, it was " my church " blew me away. And second is "How great thou art " it was so beautiful that I cried. Please give it a listen.
Home Free has an extensive catalog and in almost every genre of music you can think of (I keep waiting for them to do Mozart or Verdi--sadly, they haven't yet, but I know they'd kill it). You can hear very serious to very fun. How Great Thou Art is spectacular and was shot in the Austrian Alps. The vocals and the scenery are both "out of this world". On the fun side, their Sea Shanty Medley rocks, as does "Never Gonna Give You Up". As an older person, I just enjoy "Never Gonna Give You Up" and their homage to the 1980's, although to fully enjoy this song, I recommend you watch the original music video by Rick Astley. You REALLY enjoy Home Free's cover then. Home Free fans call themselves "Home Fries" and I admit to being a Home Fry that doesn't even like country music (but Home Free makes it so good I can't help but love it).
@@kellywilliams364 it does not take that many songs to understand homefree as a group. I never understand why people say that. Yes Mayday should never be the first song you listen to but once you hear the group a couple times you get the idea of what each person's role is. He has done a couple songs from home free already so if he wanted to do Mayday then I belive he would be ready for it.
After only 3 songs? I don't think so although I could be wrong. I've unfortunately seen this too often in the past and was always dissapointed if done too early.
He had also reacted to Misty Mountain so you can count that as a song for homefree in my opinion so that is 4. Listen all I am saying is that you need 5 songs tops before listening to mayday not 10 or so some people suggest.
@@jasonosterhoudt2745 it also depends a little on which songs they react to in the beginning. I agree that in his case the 5 songs may be enough as these songs showcased better which each member of the group is able to do. But that is not the case most of the times, that is why we came up with the 10 or so songs before reacting to Mayday. Suppose a reactor has these 5 songs as reaction in the beginning: American Pie, I Swear, On The Road Again, Diamond Dreams, Moonshine (just as example) - I don't think it would work then..
Nice reaction I do not have a favorite because when they git together it take all of them to make it sound just right. They pick the lead based on who fits the song not on who sings better it always works for them an us my favorite is Helplessly Hoping the only problem is it is to short but it is a master class in harmony
I've seen Home Free in concert twice now(and watched a few interviews) and while many people wouldn't believe it, in the beginning of his first lead here, Tim Foust(aka the bassy bass) is actually singing at a octave slightly ABOVE his normal speaking voice. The result of him being such a naturally deep bass is very clear vocals right down to the edge of the sub-sonic range.
I've got the original "Johnny Cash, Live at Folsom Prison" concert on Vinyl. Performing in front of an audience, some of whom will never see the light of day again, he really relates - it's awesome to hear.
Loved your picking out the high tenor (Austin) and tenor harmonies (Rob) as your favorites. They lead in so many HF songs. Then you work down the scale to Chance (Baritone/Base) and Tim (base - most of the time, though he has a 5 Octave range and can sing quite beautifully as a a tenor). And of course the beat boxer Adam. What makes them so appealing is their ability to harmonize: try out their cover of Helplessly Hoping by Crosby, Stills and Nash.
High tenor is Austin Brown, 2nd tenor, Rob Lundquist; Bass Tim Foust; Baritone/alternate bass, Adam Chance and Beatboxer Adam Rupp. Gotta learn the names sometime. Love your thoughtful reactions.
Ha Ha! I had the same reaction to how tall each person was on the video. I am a patron of Home Free so I emailed them to find out how tall they actually are. Tim (Bass to Tenor), Chace (Bass to Tenor), Adam (Beat Box and Bass to tenor) and Austin (high tenor) are all 6'2" tall. Rob (Baritone to high tenor) is 6'3".
Left is Tim Foust bass (bottomless voice), next is Rob Lundquist tenor (and not 6'8" LOL), Austin Brown is next and he's the high tenor, Adam Chance (called Chance) sings baritone/bass and is taller than 5'2", Adam Rupp is the beat boxer (rumor is at age 4 he swallowed a drum kit LOL)
You want Bass? Geoff Castellucci from Voiceplay with either Blackbird, 16 tons or Take me Home Country Roads and your sub-woofers will be whimpering and the next one form Home Free, possibly either Ring of Fire on The Sing Off with AVi from Pentatonix or their cover of Man of Constant Sorrows
Sorry, Geoff is good but Tim is so much better. He is so pure hitting his notes. He's busted subwoofers at his concerts. Voice play is excellent but they're more dramatic. Tim, then Geoff and Avi.
They are actually all 6'1 to 6'4, they had to put up their own backgrounds and they have a sense of humor, they were singing from their closets during "the times" and were separated in their homes, but still making the great music.
Discovered your channel yesterday and have subscribed. Really enjoy it. Love to hear your thoughts on Randy Travis, something like 1982 or Forever and Ever Amen.
🤣 Yeah, Tim is 6’8” like Chance is shorter than me!!! And poor Rob!!!!! Tim better watch out cause Austin’s still a kid and he’s gaining on him!!! 🤣. These guys ALWAYS throw some humor in somewhere! 😊
No, they're playing with you, they change the height graphs quite a few times during this vid, sometimes Austin, the key tenor is 6'4 then he's 5'8 and the tenor you notice is Tim and you hear him quite a bit in their cover of End of the Road by Boyz 2 Men
I love this. Don’t pay attention to the height charts. They’re all wrong. The guys are all over 6’ though. We think Tim (the bass) did the crime. Adam, the beatboxer, should be in an insane asylum and the rest are accomplices. Hahaha. Austin in the middle is the high tenor, Rob, beard and glasses is the tenor. Chance is a baritone/bass. They’re all so good. Glad you enjoyed it. I love their version of the song. Good reaction!
recommend Home Free singing Elvira featuring The Oak Ridge Boys. Also Home Free sings American Pie featuring Original singer (can't think of his Name) third Home Free singing "Crazy"
