Not sure I've ever come across a song that's better suited for Home Free to knock out the park -- brilliant job to all them, and a big shoutout to Tim for raking in another Pit Viper status 🐍 What are some of your favorite moments from this cover?
The vocals are spot on, for sure! But I loved how they kept the video production simple, yet fun with the details. As you pointed out, their heights... pretty sure Adam Chance is taller than 4'8". Add in Tim's playful smirk when he drops, so funny. I love when they drop in subtle hints of humor. Great reaction from you.
I love the little smirk that Tim does near the end of his chest fry note! And I had not noticed the bass line near the end that you pointed out - thanks!!
I like trying to figure out what they're "in" for. I think Adam Chance for con man (it's the Spock eyebrow thing), Rob for embezzling, Austin for grand theft auto, Tim's the sociopathic killer, and Adam Rupp is just full Section 8 psycho.
Yes!!please react to their Mayday cover!!Adam Chance is surprisingly awesome in that one!!🙂 also, your vocal background makes your reactions and analysis even deeper and more accurate than most other reactors. Love it when you sing along!!!and usually that bugs me with other reactors, but I follow you and I really enjoy your voice! Keep up the great job!!✌
As an older person, I recognize that all of the sounds that the group are producing in the background are sounds that are associated with trains, both the percussion and the vocal sounds. Austins' wail, is reminiscent of a train whistle of old, the percussion is reminiscent of the wheels on the train track, Tims' low hum could be a throwback to the electric train diesel tractor motor. Listen again and notice these train analogies. Whomever wrote this arraignment obviously grew up in a time of trains, or lived near trains growing up.
Out of ALL the different covers I've heard, this one by far is the best. Everyone else tried to imitate Johnny but Home free took a classic tune & stayed true to the beat, lyrics & sound but made it fun & their own. My favorite part by far was hearing you sing along! Don't ever apologize for singing along. You've got a beautifui voice. Til next time. 😊❤️
You are absolutely right. The song is made for Tim. His bass is freakish 😁 He sings both high and very low notes with an ease that very few singers have. The guys harmonies are absolutely perfect. I love your reaction. I've heard this song so many times, and yet you point out things I didn't notice. Thanks for this!
I have no musical background, I just enjoy listening to music (selective listening, acapella mostly). So yes, I totally look forward to your analysis, because you help me understand why I liked certain things so much, and discover details I didn't pick on earlier 🌟💖 Thanks for this, Peter!
WOW!!! Okay, I grew up playing alto sax, moved on. to Bari sax in high school and started learning guitar in middle school. I also picked up pretty much anything else that has strings and reeds. So at 42, I can confidently say I am familiar with music, a little! But I've never really explored traditional vocals or my own range until recently and until now... I HAD NO IDEA that chest fry existed!! I mean I learned Tuvan throat singing techniques( and actually hear some interesting similarities!) but just straight up chest fry...*mind completely freakin blown* Thank you so much for opening my eyes(and range!!) to this technique and to all of these bands/ vocalists!!! I never knew about this world and since finding your channel last night, it's all I can listen to and it is AMAZING!! TY so much!!!
These guys have so much fun and are so often going in cheek. I love that they don't take themselves so seriously. Fun, generous, reverent, patriotic. Etc, etc. While being really great talents. Love love love your analysis - like a mini master's class.
I was a choir director in a former life, and working with not-quite-so-gifted amateurs. You had to keep it fresh, otherwise nobody would care. I'd do it by changing up the time signatures and changing up who sang what section. It was a challenge. And, I learned something here. Maybe I'll be in that position again, and you gave me some ideas for doing it better. Thanks!
That's awesome man! It was so nice to hear you talk about E2 being a relatively low note, I now consider myself a baritone because of my comfortable place in the 3rd- 4th octave, but knowing that my low E to Db are significant makes me feel good!
I loved when Rupp does the shot gun sound! It’s so good! Actually Rupp killed this song. So creative. Tim, well it’s Tim, but he made himself look so evil with the heavy low note and the lighting.
Regarding the height carts, one fellow RUclips reactor by the name of Patrol Gaming said it succinctly: "These guys can't stay serious for two minutes!!" 😃😃😃
I stumbled across one of your videos not long ago, and you've quickly become one of my favorites to watch, because of the depth of your analyses. Keep it up!
I've said it before, and I'll say it again... Home Free are all GREAT singers, but you will have to admin that good singers are pretty much a dime-a-dozen. Just look at RUclips. They're all over the place... some really phenomenal singers (which of course, each Home Free member is). Where Home Free REALLY shines is when they sing together. As a group, I think they are unbeatable. The arrangements they are able to put together are so good.
...and I'm one of those with no musical background and even less musical talent! It's like all my senses are being kicked into appreciative knowledge by your analyses. For this I thank you..also great song of course...Take care...💐
Keep. Taking. Your. Time. As a former vocal major, I love hearing you pull apart the music theory and it brings back a lot of good memories for me :) *Edited for grammer's sake...
I love this. One of my favorites of theirs. You break it down so well and can hear some parts I have a hard time hearing but then you’re a trained singer. I just love their version. Love Adam’s harmonica and Austin’s train like sounds. Rob has soul and Tim and Chance kill their low notes. You’re right, that is not their real heights but they’re fairly tall, all between 6’1” to 6’4”. Tim is supposedly 6’ 3”, that’s what some fans have said. Enjoyed your reaction.
I just want to say that I appreciate your reaction/analysis so much because you genuinely enjoy the music that you are breaking down. IMHO you would have loved to just in and record this (and others) song with them. Thank you for being so original. 👍
Love hearing Tim drop bombs. I am happy when I can hit a B1, 50% of time, you talented bass singers shred those lows love it. I really like the commentary and the insights you bring.
The Gentlemen are actually 6'1" and above to 6'4". From what I've read Rob is the tallest T 6'4" Tim about 6'3". Austin just under 6'2" and he the shortest, everyone falls inbetween Austin and Rob. That's all the height facts I have. Love your reactions! Love the deep dive into all the technical aspects. Thanks for what you do!
I grew up listening to "The Man in Black" and Home Free did him proud! Would have been fun to have seen them collaborate with him like they did with The Oakridge Boys. PS.... you sounded great... would love to hear you do something with Tim and the guys! ❤️ 😊 ❤️
Their producer and friend is Darren Rust. He also mixes and masters their music. Darren is part of the Blenders too. Adam Rupp the Beatboxer is called Adam but the other Adam, Adam Chance, is called Chance to differentiate between the two Adams.
Yay, you did it! Glad you finally got to this one. Great job by home free and awesome analysis by you as always. Pit viper mode activated Love when you sing along also
They didn’t hang the backgrounds right on their walls which I think was intentional. They’re a pretty good group of guys who wanna have a good time. FYI home fries call the baritone / bass Chance which is what he goes by in all the shows the vocal drummer is Adam typo and goes by Adam in shows
This is one of may favorite songs they've covered recently and it's truly refreshing to hear a bass singer discuss the tech side of singing in that range. Looking forward to to the next video!
I love watching your reactions. They are in depth, informative and I've learned a whole new way to listen to music. You have a great speaking voice and sound amazing competing with Tim. Keep giving us these great reactions. You have a great country twang when you want to use it! LOL!
I've seen some behind scenes of them and it is some lip sync because they've pre-recorded in the studio, but they also do some live singing during the shoot to make it match up and seem real with expressionism, etc. They are all 6'1 to 6'4" tall. They were in quarantine and had to hang up their own backgrounds in their home studio closet or wherever they set up and plus they have a sense of humor.
Thank you so much for reacting to this song. One of my favorites of Home Free. What I like the most with this song I guess is Tim's last low notes with the grin on his face. Like Ok I did it cause it is fun. I appreciate your voice also and the extra information about what the guys are doing. I also like hearing you sing along, because your voice is really terrific. I think you would probably like hearing HF singing...Honey I'm Good...and...Ed Sheeran/Marvin Gaye cover of...Thinking Out Loud/Let's Get It On...little surprise in there.
I like that Tim lowers his head when he sings "I hang my head and cry." I wonder if that changes the difficulty of producing the note. Also, as a recommendation you should look at The HU, a Mongolian rock band that has become popular in the US. I'm interested in your take on their throat singing. 'Yuve Yuve Yu' is the first one the I heard. They also have songs with Lzzy Hale and Jacoby Shaddix.
Peter, the measurement thingy behind "Chance" shows him to be 5'. 🤣 Chance is 6'2". I think they're all over 6'. By the way, I love hearing your voice simple talking! 😊
I absolutely love watching your reaction videos. I love the in depth analysis you provide, it's more than just a "reaction" and I love that. Also, love hearing you sing along, would definitely love to hear you do a country cover for sure. Would be interesting to see what you could do with King of the Road. That would be amazing to be honest. Another great video though, can't wait for the next one 😁 And I must say, THANK YOU so much for explaining how some vocal pieces work, the chest fry and subharmonics, I greatly appreciate how you really break things down
Thank you for such a great, educational reaction. Home Free is so unique, I think, partly because they do terrific country covers and originals. - but what other country group takes on John Mayer? Try In the Blood and Tim’s intro. Have you heard Amazing Grace with Peter Hollens? Would love to hear your breakdown of Tim’s solo in that. Keep going with your deep analysis!
On the wall Tim's height reads 6' 4". This video, you finally give honorable mention to Austin. His beautiful voice and range accentuates the contrast with the low bass you (and I) love. Enjoyed your reaction and your analysis. Thanks.
I love your reactions/teaching. I always learn something. And I think you should sing along any time. For me, it helps my ear hear the bass line that's not as easy to pick out.
You became my fav reactors on this genre and you gotta be proud of that ! Cuz i have very few "favorite" . Real thanks for what you are teching us ; to me is what i really needed ! Ciao Peter keep on the good work .
I absolutely loved your reaction to this❣️ I am a musical person, but don’t know much about bass! I used to be a high soprano but not so much anymore 😞 I really enjoy your in-depth analysis , your commendation on their prison garb, the height disparities, etc. I REALLY love when you sing along 😍 You have an awesome voice!! I look forward to more Home Free reactions from you❣️
Love your HF reaction as always. HF's new release has me freaking out. ADAM'S HARMONICA in Working For A Living is THE star of that performance. Man can he jam! Check it out sometime
Peter, your voice is awesome. You have that resonance in your voice like Tim Foust does. The Chiaroscuro light and dark sound. Makes it sound you are frying no matter what note. Other bases sound muddied or sort of flat- not note wise but like turning the treble all the way off. To me not as pleasant to the ears. Tim's part in Man of Constant Sorrow is a perfect example of how your voice sounds like his. Nice.
I really appreciate your analysis and break-downs of the bass lines. Thanks for putting out great content. And for my tastes, you can never do too much Home Free :)
I'm sure you noticed, too, that Adam cocks and shoots an invisible shotgun at (their)1:05. I thought that was hilarious. This song was obviously recorded during the covid lockdowns; each of them was alone in his space. I'm just guessing here, but I think they may sing (if not record) during the video and not just lip-sync. That is my impression from their video about the making of "How Great Thou Art." And, for the record, you do add a lot of informative insights, one of the reasons I keep coming back here. Thank you.
I’d be interested to hear reactions to songs from less known groups/peeps. I LOVE Home Free, Voiceolay, and Pentatonix, but my knowledge to bass singers beyond that is pretty scarce. Would be neat to hear
Know what I love about your reaction vids? The facial expressions! You get so into it! Seeing somebody that knows their stuff really enjoy a performance really then makes that song better somehow. Keep it up! (and thanks for explaining subs! adding to my music knowledge every day!) 😍
I love your analysis, it makes me so interested in music despite a lack of knowledge. So many people just react. You and the charismatic voice are my two favorites for true breakdowns
Thank you Mister Peter...for your very informative reaction....please no worries about pausing and what not....you are reacting, and that is what I am watching for.
I don't have the volume, but I could hit the E1. Didn't realize that it was that uncommon until I heard you say so. Learned something new today, thanks!
Really enjoy your reactions! First time tonight I've seen you believe it or not! My dad was a true deep bass in a barbershop quartet when I was young and how I loved that. And you have a really awesome bass voice. Makes me happy! Thanks and keep on the HF journey. Tim goes nice and low in Down to the Honky Tonk too. That's fun. Love everything they do! Take are.
Hey I just wanted to say I love you and how you react to and analyze the music. Keep up the awesome work. And not to mention, we get to hear you sing in this song!!! And you are amazing. We need more of you singing along with songs.
That bass run near the end that you were pointing out - if you notice, Tim looks to be "playing" it with his right hand - possibly to keep the notes on the right time.
New Intro: welcome to music 101. Today we will be studying Home Free ; Folsom Prison Blues. If all you want is to be entertained or listen to the song, there are a thousand other reactions out there. No seriously, it gets boring watching a reactionist say it's beautiful all the time. We know it's a great song. And I love to hear you sing. Keep being you.
I really really enjoy your videos. You’ve got the background, history and experience to give a well rounded opinion on these performances. It’s really great to hear the techniques explained so well, and helps me realize why I love these performances by Home Free so much Please check out Colder Weather by Home Free, I’d love to hear your analysis of their harmonies and arrangement.
Not sure I've ever come across a song that's better suited for Home Free to knock out the park -- brilliant job to all them, and a big shoutout to Tim for raking in another Pit Viper status 🐍 What are some of your favorite moments from this cover?
I would like to hear you break down this from HomeFree live concert versions of Your Man.
ruclips.net/video/4srGq0oX2XI/видео.html
Other than the pit viper status for Tim, the "don't ever play with guns!" Shotgun slide they do with Adam's video.
And I had not noticed the bass line near the end that you pointed out - thanks!!
your chest fry E1 was pretty nice.
I like trying to figure out what they're "in" for. I think Adam Chance for con man (it's the Spock eyebrow thing), Rob for embezzling, Austin for grand theft auto, Tim's the sociopathic killer, and Adam Rupp is just full Section 8 psycho.
Lmao 🤣 nice 👍🏼
I said Chance for mob boss, Rob white collar or inside man, Austin for running shine, Tim as serial killer and Adam headed to a padded room....lol
Adam looks like he bites his victims lmaoo
Tim looks like he'd shank you with no provocation.
Those sound about right lmao especially Adam Rupp he just looks like a nut in this one and Tim was serial killer look
Not sure if I missed it, but “Mayday” by Home Free is a great vehicle for Adam Chance.
...and another chance for Tim to show off his high range chops.
Yes!!please react to their Mayday cover!!Adam Chance is surprisingly awesome in that one!!🙂 also, your vocal background makes your reactions and analysis even deeper and more accurate than most other reactors. I agree with you wholeheartedly!! You are spot on with the fact that every sound produced in this cover is train related!
Austin’s doing that train whistle beautifully !
Don't apologize for singing. We will take hearing you singing any way we can get it. You have a gorgeous voice.
Love when you do the breakdowns.
You said "two things". Just like Tim would, in a live setting. These guys are so much fun
But does Peter wear skinny jeans? 😁
My mind flashed on that when he said that too XD
@@shellyt3946 and are they still a little baggy?

It’s SO good. The music and the visuals. Great storytelling.
Don't apologize for singing along. I'm sure no one minds since your voice is as sexy as the rest of them. I could listen to yours all day too.
Tim is 6'1" I believe and Rob is the tallest at 6'4" They are all in between that range. Adam killed the rifle cocking!
Tim is about 6'3, Austin is 6'1, and Rob is the tallest standing at 6'4
He actually used the sound from a real shotgun that he owns.
These guys have so much fun and are so often going in cheek. I love that they don't take themselves so seriously. Fun, generous, reverent, patriotic. Etc, etc. While being really great talents.

Sing along all you want sir. I'll listen to you.
They did this in quarantine
I love it...as soon Tim started that last verse an octave down, you grabbed your vipers...awesome
I do love your analysis.
YOU AND TIM SOUNDED GREAT TOGETHER😄
Peter, thank you for your expertiese.I enjoy watching your reactions/analisysis
Hey Peter Your voice so Deep
They are awesome! Love your reaction!
We need more of you singing along with songs.
sing it brother! you have a fantastic voice!!
That bass run near the end that you were pointing out - if you notice, Tim looks to be "playing" it with his right hand - possibly to keep the notes on the right time.
Love Austin’s train whistle!
I like it when you sing along with Tim
That's the thing about Home Free, they can take a song, any song, stay true to the original but still make it their own.
Yayyy, thank you!! Wonderful reaction and analysis.
Love that you shouted out Bobby Bass!!😃another great bass!! You guys need to do more Bass Gang covers!!!😊
I really really enjoy your videos. You’ve got the background, history and experience to give a well rounded opinion on these performances. It’s really great to hear the techniques explained so well, and helps me realize why I love these performances by Home Free so much
Please check out Colder Weather by Home Free, I’d love to hear your analysis of their harmonies and arrangement.
Love your reactions, knowledgeable and interesting. Thank you
I so enjoy the analysis, I learn so much!
Loved it and you!
