Well, done, Joy! Very informative, and thank you for diving in and reading the policy declarations--incredibly useful information, and I think overall, Tesla's insurance is very attractive. As usual Joy, this was a great review. It looks like Tesla spent some time to include topics to meet their driver's interest. Hopefully, they will spread the coverage to other states (like Texas).
Although this seems like a warranty issue, my model 3 touchscreen/computer just went out. Is there anyway to add insurance to cover things like this in the future since it will cost $2600 dollars? Without the screen I can drive it, but have no idea how many miles I have left before it goes to zero. Ted
$450 seems really low for rental car reimbursement. Our Model X was in a minor car accident and ended up in the Tesla Body Shop for 28 days and the cost of the rental was >$1,400. This was 100% covered for us, along with our gas. Does the Tesla insurance policy say anything about reimbursing for gas purchases for the covered rental???
@@TeslaJoy - Thank you for the clarification! I did to see the caption. That makes perfect sense now. Thank you again for this very informative video and for the reply to our comment! And Happy Holidays to you!
Since we're talking about Tesla insurance, my insurance company just asked me if my Tesla has an "active Vehicle Recovery System, Anti-Theft Device." I would think a Tesla has such a system/device but I thought I'd ask Tesla Joy and the Tesla community for your thoughts. Thanks!
I would think it’s the Tesla app that allows you to track where your car is going/located if it ever got stolen. Anti-theft is sentry mode as I mentioned in video.
Regarding the Wall Charger, mine stopped stopped working out of nowhere and they deemed it as a “manufactured defect” and denied my claim but now that I’m trying to find it to send to Tesla for Warranty, I can’t find it. What is your best option?
That rental car coverage limited is pretty low. It’s common for carriers to pay $30 a day for up to 30 days ($900) as the minimum and offer upgrades to $40 and $50 a day.
That’s for out of network as I inserted in video. Not sure if you caught that. As I mentioned in video, in network could be $75/day after I spoke to Tesla Insurance.
Joy, thanks for the info. I have a few questions. Maybe I missed it but what is the monthly or annual cost of this premium (I understand several factors will affect this)? Regarding the key fob, it says Tesla will pay up to 500. What is the price of a new key fob? Finally, when it comes to the discounts, do they explain the amount discounted for "persistent" coverage with them and the timeline associated with this? Do they have a list of groups that qualify for their group discount listed? Thanks again for the info.
Hi, you can watch the first video on premium which I linked in this video. Re: key fob, a new one for Model 3 is $150 (you can go to Tesla store online for current pricing). Persistency discount starts after 1 year or 2 x 6-month coverage. Hope this helps.
I think the whole point of liability insurance is to cover you if you screw up or the car malfunctions (FSD). All companies should cover this. It also says autonomous driving is covered up to your liability limit. Yours is pathetically low. Don’t cheap out on it.
Thanks for confirming that Tesla reduces accidents compared to non-Tesla which is my whole point. Do you own a Tesla or no? Doesn’t sound like you know how Tesla drives differently from gas cars.

Not sure if you watched the entire video but your standard AP is level 2 autonomous driving as stated in the policy. And it’s not $20/month. It’s $20/6 months or $3.33/month.
If mine isn’t $20/month then yours shouldn’t either. And as I mentioned in video, you do have autonomous driving with standard AP. Please watch the video again or switch to non-Tesla Insurance if you don’t want your AP to be insured.
@@TeslaJoy you're right I just called Tesla insurance and what they said was they charged me $20 autonomous driving which covers roadside assistance for 6 months and they just spread it towards each monthly bill so which at about $4 extra per month my bill total it's $688 / 6 months $114 a month not bad compared to what I was paying at Geico they want $165 a month closer to 800 or $900 premium 6 months.
