You should set your aluminum mold on an electric hot plate to keep it warm instead of using a heat gun. That would keep the mold warm the whole time you are pouring. Then just remove it to cool and set the plastic.

Just found your channel and I have been watching your videos for the past week a lot and I’m hooked. Sorry, for the bad pun. Got a few ideas I like to throw out there.
    1. On the aluminum mold bait, how would it be if you pour the plastic around a connected wire hardware so you can attach treble hooks.
    2. For a special bait idea, a skeleton fish. Sort of a wooden crank bait carved skeleton.
    3. Please revisit the upside down crank bait. I think if you lessen the angle of the lip like to a 10 or 15 degree angle, it will rise at a slower pace. Btw, that yellow bass paint job on that bait was gorgeous.
Thanks for the good job on the videos, please keep them coming.

Nate, Since you are going to clamp these while pouring, a better idea is to use ¼” dowel pins for alignment of the two halves. This offers 2 benefits: Better alignment & and less wear on adjoining plate. Screw threads will wear out the female alignment holes faster imho. Old mold maker. Oh, I really like Jay’s comment on the hot plate. Keep up the great work.

I may get brave and try to model one just to see if I can get the same detail. I also like the action in the water that you're getting with your design.
It's a bit to big for any kind of fishing I'd do but still I really like it. I've made bullet molds, high pressure air seal molds and a multitude of other gadgets and gizmos with my CNC mill. I'm sure this too can be done on my hobby mill.

Ok, got a question for ya. What about putting some clear plastic in the eye slots, and pre-placing the eyes before you pour the body? Basically have the eyes buried in plastic instead of gluing them on later? You could do it before the tow halves of the mold are assembled, so you could get the placement pretty easy. Just wondering.

Have you considered using like a fiber mesh weave to help hold the bait together? Those segment style baits typically do not hold up well at the joints. Once hit a time or two and the fiber weave really strengthens those joints.

What you should do there is make one of your twisty wire swivel jobbers and put that on the beast 8/0 and trail the stinger treble to the center section, and even put the top hook in the plastic in the center segment, and if you're really feeling froggy, a third section with a tail stinger, you could make a little wireform rig for it, I mean at this point, go all out

Nice! For the Aluminum mold you could have done a bit better of a job selling it though. Maybe listing circumstances that it would be useful in. Places that supplies are low in like in Alaska, remote Canada, jungles or other places. Maybe there is a mom and pop fishing shop and setting up a soft plastic station would be an easy way to create "house lures" for cheap and they could easily do plenty of different colors for whatever is biting. they could have a basic color spectrum and if people say they are biting yellows and reds you can make a custom red and yellow bait! on top of that they can always make themed lures like bright green with green glitter for St. Patric's Day, or red white and blue for Fourth of July, you could make any number of custom colored baits for whatever reasons!
Other people who might have use for a soft plastic mold are large boating/fishing clubs or classy fishing resorts that want to be able to make custom lures for the people who come to fish there. It would be good to list things like this and how expensive, how much space is needed and how much effort setting up a soft plastic station would be. Then if anyone is in that situation or knows anyone in that situation then they can easily make the decision about it. Can you really get started with just a micro wave, vacuum chamber and heat gun in the back room or do you need anything else?
I was also wondering if you could make a corona virus bait or if you were going to do anything Covid-19 themed at all? I don't know how you would do it but I'm sure you could get creative. I mean technically going fishing you are still isolated as long as you are not in places people pass through often and are not right near people. Maybe you could get onto the trending page with it if there are a lot of extra people watching videos. You could make a Corona Beer shaped lure, you could put a crown on a lure and make it look like a king, maybe make it a king salmon as the base fish, you could make a soft plastic bait that looks like the images of Covid-19 under a microscope , you could make a king shaped soft plastic lure, you could paint a surgical mask and gloves onto a lure, you could create an incredibly beautiful lure like the curled Maple lure with a few light touches of paint like the belly(or use plugs like detailed below), gills, fins, and maybe a light translucent pearl white scale coating and then list it online for sale with the profits going to help hospitals or whatever your favorite charity is. You could do something else entirely differently but I'm sure there is an idea here! I Do think the charity build video might be nice because you would have an excuse to make it as amazing as you can with no expense spared. You could also try to get onto the main page with a title like "How to fish safely during the outbreak!", "Fishing stores closed? Make your own lures this fishing season to stay safe!" or something like that. If you are getting a lot of new and extra views because everyone is stuck inside then you might consider updating your instructional videos about how to make different baits with all your tips you have learned over the years and the different ways to do things. You have learned a lot of things over the past years and it might be nice to see some videos like that made to help give people something to do while they are inside so by the time they can get outside again they might have a nice home made lure to show for it. It seems like you are getting more towards assuming the people watching are subscribers, that they know what is going on and what you did in previous videos. I guess it really depends on the number of new viewers you are getting or unsubscribed viewers and if things are changing that.
Lastly I wanted to say that your new editing in the last video where you did Ivan Miranda style jump cuts and stuff made the video much nicer to watch. We all know how sawing works so where you started sawing and instead of fast forwarding through the footage, you just cut it to make it look like it only took like 3 pulls of the saw blade it makes you look like a super hero. If you were to add in some nice music in the back ground it might also help but it might be hard to find some. If you have any friends in bands then you might be able to get permission to throw in some of their music. Just as long as you don't use like those 20 songs that are on every garbage compilation/list video. I feel like if you were able to step up your editing game and if you condensed your video builds down even by 5% by cutting out the bits between each drop coming out of the super glue bottle, the saw cutting through the middle of the wood, setting up some things and other stuff it might make the video feel more fast paced. If you could sneak in some editing jokes and were able to write a few ahead of time with the help of "movie magic" your videos would go from being good to being awesome! But that is something you need to experiment with on your own. Also If you had put plugs in that maple bait last video that thing would have been amazing! Do you have a plug cutting bit? If so you could hide those lead spots with wood and that raw wooden bait would have been so perfect. like I said last time that action was AMAZING! That thing looked alive and that beautiful wood grain gave that fish such a great look, the eyes and tail matched perfectly. Keep up the awesome work!

Make a smaller swim bait mold! 4”-6” would be perfect for bass

I feel your pain of not getting outside. I'm in New Jersey and we finally get warmer weather but now we're all getting quarantined with the whole state shut down.

I used to live in Alabama, excellent fishing state. Great hunting too. Good hiking, kayaking, camping, etc. One of the best outdoors states I've lived in.

@@cckennedy9 New England as a region is pretty great if you ask me. I've lived in NH, VT and Maine. Can't say much for our 3 southern sister states. Rhode Island, Mass, and Connecticut. Wait, never mind. It sucks up here. Stay away
Fishing is terrible too. No public land to hunt, no hiking trails. Ya I def was talking out my ass. Stay wherever you are. I hear Florida and California are great. Move there instead.

I 2nd the smaller mold, here in NM not more than a tiger muskie will get after a swimmer that big, and they are only in a handful of our ponds.

Amazon has carbon soldier/ welding pads for your desk. Bushcrafters use them under twig stoves to prevent burning everything else.
You can add rattles to your bait.

If you set up a vacuum surge tank, you could pull a vacuum on your chamber faster. Some kydex guys do that with their tables since their pumps aren't fast enough for the cooling plastic.
