Ranma did not want to give a bad memory of the first kiss to Akane as it happened to him. The boy likes to mess around with the girl he likes but that does not mean that he does not actually respect her.
You'd think a guy who routinely walks along the top of chain-link fences, whose entire martial arts form requires mastery of balance, would be a little quicker in applying that to skating.

ofc, Ranma is upset. A straight guy got his first kiss stolen by a dude, even if he was in girl form at the time. And it happened in front of Akane whom he doesn't want to openly admit he likes. BTW, are you guys watching in dubtitle? The proper English subtitle would be better.
It becomes more established after this that the Anything-Goes School is expected to accept any challenge (and the wagers that go with them). The ethos has been trained into Ranma. Yeah that happened but this time it really showed how pissed Ranma was. As for the almost kiss they are lot more shyer it makes it more sweeter and reminds us they are just two shy awkward teens who got thrown into this arrangement But in the 80s the family was way more out of pocket they actually had a camera to document I kid you not they actually were recording them in the 80s
Hey I noticed that you guys use the English CC translation. This is the audio translation of the english dub and is full of mistranslation, including some that can drasticaly change some character's personnalities (the english dub is very contreversial). I HIGHLY suggest that you switch to the regular english subs, which are much more accurate since they directly translate the original script! You guys are very entertaining to watch btw!
A few fun facts: - In the old anime only, maleRanma is shown having trouble skating, so he leaves the skating rink. Ryoga immediatly understands his plan to change into a girl and yells at him something like "You coward, stay here and take your share of humiliation like me!" - In the manga and in the old anime, when Mikado is puzzled about femRanma crying, Akane thinks "You would be crying too, if a boy kissed you!". It looks like the new anime is altering a few lines to avoid risks of sounding homophobic, like they removed a remark by Nabiki about the kiss "not counting" because they were both boys. - In the old anime only, when femRanma returns maleRama, a man in the bath asks "Is this a candid camera show? Where's the camera?" PS: I find funny how we are the same people following various Ranma reactors, we are posting more or less the same comments on different channels... 🙂
Actualy, the english dub is changing a LOT of dialogue to fit an agenda, to a point that it changes ranma's personality. Sadly, Dip Down Anime uses the Eng. CC sub which are direct translation of the english dub! The regular english subs are much more accurate to the original japanese script. Other languages dub are all accurate, only the english dubs are highly modified.
In the manga the guys go "Don't play dumb. We know you two are engaged." after that comment about deflowering Akane. It's a really weird bit to remove, the way it just jumps to Ranma's next line makes it really obvious there's something missing there since the flow of the dialogue makes no sense.
That and the fact that they are using the english dubtitles instead of the regular english sub adds another layer of altered dialogue. The english dub has many mistranslations that alter characters and even the story.
@@lotubenou8755 Hilariously, the English dub script is more often than not closer to the Japanese dialogue than the subtitles allegedly directly translating the Japanese dialogue. The subs are THAT bad. Some of the worst I've seen.
it makes 0 difference to remove that line (which was already in episode 3 anyways) what is with this surge of angst about the translations, this is standard manga/anime/dub/sub discourse except some idiots are trying to make it an even bigger deal than usual now
Also Senzenin i (I'm pretty sure I spelled his name wrong but I don't care because) He's a creep. I mean who just goes up and kisses girls he just met, he would be in jail right now. He got what he deserved especially in the 80s version

Ranma may have some toxic masculine traits but he is a real man amongst men in this regard. My sweet and reserved boy. Love him!
@@moonqueenofthenorth Good thing Ranma is not like his father in that regard.

Fences aren't slippery. Besides, ice is frozen water and water is Ranma's enemy

Yes exactly, the english CC dubtitles and the english dub are full of mistranslations that alter characters personalities.
@@lotubenou8755 That's correct. These mistranslations, intentional or not, really change the characters, which is NOT good.

Koichi Yamadera is doing Ryoga's voice and if it's the same as the original Ranma Anime, it's also him doing P-chan's voices.
