Way back yonder in the 80's and 90's I was playing bass in a band full time. The PA had 8 Crown DC300 power amps. They ran clean and with no problems for decades. Crown is the industry standard. The best amps made.
Great video. I would love to see a video on creating the 12 volt trigger as I have two of these to run two subs. Also, I have the same tray table but I think everybody does.
I have the XLS2502s and loved them until I took a chance abd bought the Crown XLI2500 power amplifier. There was a huge jump in musicality and I'm hooked on Class AB for life...just my 2 cents...
I have couple of the Crown 2502's. I can max the volume without pushing a signal to the amp... I only hear a slight hiss with my ear almost against the tweeter. Not enough that you could even hear in a dead silent room. I have had vintage audio equipment of pristine status that was on par with the Crowns. My speakers sensitivity are 98db SPL too. I have owned quite a bit of high end gear. The Crown's can hold their own. For the money, they can't be beat for power, efficiency and features. Not yet... The Crowns match very well with the Emotiva PT-100 (which has a decent DAC built in, or use of a different good DAC (Aune X8 Magic DAC, JDS Labs EL DAC II, The ES9038Q2M SABRE32 Reference DAC, AK4490 - AK4499 etc.) and also using tubes as a buffer, if you want a fuller bodied richer sound. I would use good quality JBL or Klipsch speakers at least. People can get Audiophile grade gear on the cheap these days!!! What can be had for $5,000 today, would have cost you $50,000 or more 20yrs ago. Think about it...
The Crown has a ADC/ DAC from the 90's which has only a measly 48Khz sample rate - and you can't hear the sound is being totally strangled... ?? ....and you recommend feed it with a AK4499 @ 768Khz... LMAO

Thanks for the video. Could you talk a bit more about the crossovers? Are you connecting these to speakers with a passive crossover and if so do you set them on the amp as well to not have it waste energy on producing a signal that wont be used by the speaker anyway.
Well, of course you may connect these speakers with a passive crossover. But you don't have to. With the activated crossover function (Crown) you are connect directly to the membran (speaker). That's the way I connected the 2 subwoofers in my hometheater. With another 2x Crown: are connected the huge Infinity Kappa monster in bi-wiring mode. Even they have a passive crossover built inside, it sounds incredible!
Please hook up these amp in your home theater . and tell us what you experienced with these crown amps in term of sound quality. Or any distortion. Will wait. Thank you
@BrianRiotHobbies hey, I know it's been a while but can you still share the 12v trigger mod? Inquiring minds would like to know, thanks! Great video though, lots of info, no interference from background music👍
Does the amp save the settings after you turn it off, or you’ve to do the setting every time you are setting up the PA system? I’ve this amp, and I plan to use it to run my two subs, Peavey 118, 400 watts, 8 ohms. Is it good to run those two? And how do I set the inbuilt crossover to get the desired Bass volume?
I connected this for my broken amp of my sub. The problem is my sub amp had adjustable phase and this doesn’t have. I used to get deeper bass at 60 degree and I’m looking for solution for right bass for my home. :(

You have that backwards good sir. pro audio line level signals can even be higher than 1.4v at times and consumer grade can be lower than .775v at times. You want to make sure the amps sensitivity matches your equipment or you will not get the full power out of it. This is an awesome feature that Crown built into this amplifier so that it can be paired with consumer-level equipment such as my Marantz receiver which is consumer-level. If I were to leave this amplifier in its 1.4 Volt Pro setting you will be getting around half the power the amplifier is actually capable of. I hope this helps.

@@toniradolovic I mean no disrespect but check the bottom of page 10 of the owners manual on the crown website where it states. It is recommended that this remain set at the default NORMAL setting for all other audio sources to provide optimal system performance. The HIGH setting is often used with source devices that use RCA connections.
