Trudeau made such a big deal about the "rule of law " when Meng Wenzhou was arrested . Saying, political interference isn't tolerated in Canada, we are a country of rule of law .

My friends in China are following this story closely and, for them, this story completely destroys any claim that the Meng/Huawei case is free of political interference and that the 'rule of law' mantra is a lie. Most of them under 30 are fluent in English and very interested in global affairs. Canada is looking very bad.

Even out of office members of the political elite, get a free pass, by other politicians. Like a Mulroney receiving $225,000 cash in an envelope, not reporting it in his taxes, then being able voluntary declaration which the CRA would never allow for an average Canadian. SInce the cash payment was already out in the media, and they would ordinarily have already started an investigation, negating the voluntary declaration process. He also sues the Canadian government for $2.1 million and cost tax payers further $16 million. Welcome to the world of politicians.

The narrative seems to be heading towards the need to protect jobs for this huge (albeit corrupt) corporation. This train of thought might appeal to the public "cutting them some slack" for the applied pressure. Really? What if the executives committed murder? Would that justify the pressure to not charge? What offence would allow them to be let "off the hook".
