Welcome to the Miele Minute, today comparing the Miele S8 Calima and Miele Alize Vacuum Cleaners. These models come packaged with non-motorized carpet brushes, therefore they are best suited for customers with predominantely smooth flooring or perhaps area rugs and extremely low-pile carpeting. Vacuuming carpet with a non-motorized brush is a compromise, so before comparing the Calima and Alize, we'll first dispense with that fundamental difference. If you have lots of carpeting, you should be using a motorized brush like the Marin, Kona or UniQ. However, if you have predominantely smooth floors and just some area rugs, the Calima and Alize could be right for you.
Yes, because Miele installs a power outlet on every S8 model to accommodate an electrical hose, even though electrical hoses are not supplied with all models. If you wish to begin using a motorized brush with the Calima, you will need 3 additional parts:
1) The SES121 Electric hose
2) The SET220 Electric wand
3) One of the 3 motorized brushes: The SEB217-3, the SEB228, or the SEB236

Thanks for the compliment! Yes. When Miele first changed the S8 series name to C3, they removed the electrical outlet that supports adding an electrical hose. There must have been a lot of complaints since they have now restored the outlet to the current production. There is a lot you will need to know about this upgrade because it's more expensive than most people think it will be. Call anytime (888-822-6387) to discuss your options and the use of our 6-24' expanding hose with this model.

How do these compare with the c3 brilliant and the sauber intelligence and the s8. These cost a lot of money i want to make sure i get one that lasts a long time and does an excellent job.
On models with dynamic drive, will the tire be flattened if a sharp object gets in touch with the tires?
The "tires" are softer rubber wheels...not pneumatic.
That yellow one is what I should had bought, but I forgot to try it out.
Hello, from what I hear, you can still add the electrical hose and others on the Alize, is this correct? Also, how much more expensive would that be if i decided on upgrading to fully powered down the road, would it cost more or would it be about the same if I just started with powered from the beginning? Thanks!
