  • Just pickup my 2020 Road King Special a few weeks ago and thought I share some video of my self installed accessories. The Saddle Bag Guard installation is quite easy and straight forward. I am not a mechanic. I do not work in any automotive industry.
    I bought the parts at shopbigskyharley.com. They ship slow, about 7 business days to get the items.
    Note: I do not work for or am affiliated to any of the products and company(s) in this video.

    Russle, thanks for including the torque specs. I know a lot of guys just do it by 'feel', I'm not one of them. Great video.

    Thank you for this video! It is the best one on RUclips I have seen. I appreciate that you explain everything in detail-not assuming I know what needs to be done (i.e. using the torque wrench, and providing the sizes etc.). Thank you for a great demonstration.

    Excellent video. Installed mine on a 2018 CVO SG yesterday. The only difference is my bike did not have the bolt on top. The threaded holes exist but nothing was attached. Fortunately, I had bolts that fit and all went well. Thank you for posting this video.

    I ordered two black aftermarket on Amazon but no adapted saddlebag supports. In hoping I can cut mine and drill a hole for the tubes to mate. Mines no mans land 2013 Road glide Custom Fltrx with stretched bags I added.

    Did mine today - really useful video. What were the 'wedges' on the top frame for ? I notice you didn't replace them.

    • @rtabcum
      @rtabcum  4 года назад

      Those black small metal pieces, one on each side of the frame right? I am not really sure. Prior to this installation, I notice they push into the seat bottom but did not really support the seat. After the installation, I just kept them off and have not had any issue.

      @@rtabcum Thanks for a quick response. Me being the inquisitive type, I'll try asking my dealer when they're open again.

    • @ianmiller9663
      @ianmiller9663 4 года назад

      I think they're to support the seat. Ryan Urlacher's video puts them back on but another video by Fried Chicken specifically leaves them off saying that the thicker metal at the top of the Harley guards with bolt are high enough. In the end, it probably doesn't matter !!

    Great job, can I ask what passenger floor boards you have and what was needed to fit? They look great.

    looking at it at the end there it seems like they are not quite large enough to totally protect the bags... i would suspect that if it did get laid down the hard bags would still suffer... but it does give you a grab rail now to lift it back up...

      Yes, not enough. Have not tested or tried it yet. Definitely good for handling the bike while on center dolly.

    All that just for saddlebag guards. You can do this job on an Indian bagger in 5 minutes with 1 tool and no parts have to come off

    • @rtabcum
      @rtabcum  4 года назад

      Indian motorcycles are great bikes. I know because I own and ride an Indian motorcycle too. Harley and Indian have different feel on the road and finest in their own way. Each also have their flaws in design and overpriced upgrades. i love them both and will keep them both. I still own a Suzuki, Aprilia, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Polaris just to mention.

      @@rtabcum so true. I've rode my buddies Milwaukee 8 and the bikes feel totally different. I was actually looking at your video to put the guards on for my buddy and was surprised how much more it takes.
