Just installed this on my 2016 ultra classic. I used your video and the instructions to accomplish. Thank you for making the video. It was helpful and I’m very happy with the adjustable backrest. BTW. The fact that is moves is not an issue at all. Once your weight is on it it holds just fine. I highly recommend this backrest!
Thanks for posting. I believe the seat protector should be placed on the back side of the opening, not the front as you suggest in the video. The note in the directions says, “If the seat protector is placed too low in the seat opening, the backrest mechanism, when pushed forward, may snag the upper edge of the protector and be difficult to return upright.” Figure 11 also shows the seat protector applied to the back of the seat opening, not the front. Hope this helps.
You are right. After re-reading the instructions, you are correct. I will put in the correction in the description since youtube does not allow me to modify the video. Thanks!
Just put this on my 2020 ultra limited and everything went smooth thanks to your video except mine has a heat shield where the handle goes and that was a booger to get that bolt in and tight , actually had to tighten the bolt from the right side of the bike . Good video, thanks man !
There is a spark plug clip that is on the heat shield that is molded into the shield. I would need to break that off to have the unit be bolted in. Did you have that issue as well?
@@randylebedow3486 Everyone shows a halfass install of the adjustable cable. What nobody shows you is how to install the lever WITH a a heat shield. That was a bear. I ended up partially screwing in the bolt with the lever in then taking my coping saw and cut a very small slot at the top of the heatshield and sliding it between the frame and the lever and then use a 7/16 socket to tighten.
"You can drop it quite easily into there, the abyss..." Yes - this is exactly what I did. I had to remove the battery... it took my son and I an hour to find the nut, which somehow got into a tube. Got it out with a magnetic probe. What a pain. Pro tip: Remove the battery! Also: If you have a plastic heat deflector, the bolt for it goes through the hole in the plate where the seat pull is located. It's what keeps it in place. H-D neglected to mention that in their poor instructions.

Anyway, to post a pic, or even send me a picture of how this bracket is supposed to be mounted? The tab on the bracket, Where does it go or where does it plug into or does it just sit underneath the frame? I have a hard time believing just one screw holds the thing tight.
The part I received came with the actuator and actuator bracket pre-mounted. I did order this part new but its possible it was pre-assembled by someone else.
Thank you for the instructions! Great video.

Excellent work. Thank you for taking the time.

Why in the hell would you cut the video when attaching the lever mount to the frame. That is the info I need!

Why did you skip mounting the actuator bracket and actuator?

thank you for sharing if i want change the seat for saddleman i should be remove the adjustable rider backrest ?
yes. Changing seat will require you to remove the backrest.
did you remove the spark plug wire? and does it go back in the same spot?
Hi, yes I had to remove the spark plug wire from the spark plug in order to reposition it. The plug wire will not easily twist out of the way on mine.
What kind of rear shocks you replace
Hi, I replaced the original stock shock that came standard on the Road King Special.
Does it rattle?
Surprisingly does not when I am off the bike while idling. When I am on the bike, my back is against it so no rattling either.
