around in the movie or the franchise? he might havnt looked that old compared to tom cruise but Hopkins would look way too old with the new castmates after this one.
Considering how often they kill off the government/agency heads/name actors in this franchise (Phelps/Secretary of State in Ghost Protocol/Hunley et al.), it's probably for the best that Hopkins' character in this film stayed away from things.
'Difficult should be a walk in the park for you!' 🍷 Ethan - Sure , except just one thing about that .. everybody knows i almost never walk as i am more of a runner than a walker! 😉
This whole movie is underrated. It's not a bad movie by any means. It's not even a bad Mission Impossible movie. Yet people continually treat MI2 like a piss poor Steven Seagal movie.
I couldn’t think about any better mission impossible movie than this. it’s got everything than the other movies best director: John woo music: Hans zimmer best location: Australia 🇦🇺
This movie is criminaly underrated, mainly because people refuse to accept his aesthetic and language... It completely subverts the style of the first, and figures out as a great action pack.
@@leocmen or because its a huge mess of a story that’s very poorly edited. The slow motion and sound effects are just so overdone and screws up a lot of good shots. Ethan Hunt is also portrayed too much like superman and is too big of a leap compared to how he was in the first film.

Ethan: She's got no training for this kind of thing. Anthony: What, to go to bed with a man and lie to him? She's a woman, she's got all the training she needs. Best line in the whole movie.
Agreed! That would have ended up on the cutting room floor today... No, on second thought in today's climate it would have never made into the script without an harassment charge of some kind.
The real crime of this movie is the 40 seconds right before this scene happens, where the writer mixed like ten different spanish festivities into something that looks like none of them... There were people wearing Aragonian traditional clothes while parading with Holy Week figures from Sevilla, but they are burning them as if they were fallas from Valencia. There's also some women dressed with the traditional fallera attire. Then there's people dressed as during the San Fermines from Pamplona while a flute in the background plays the Salve Rociera which is a piece played during the pilgrimage to Rocío in Huelva... All under a constant chorus of women singing a medieval song from Asturias. Imagine a traditional USA festivity being depicted as a series of parades with cheerleaders dressed as monsters, ghosts or witches throw beaded necklaces at peoole and hand out turkey slices soaked in gravy to while they set off red-white-blue fireworks. All accompanied by an obnoxious rendition of the yankee-doodle on a piccolo and people singing Amazing Grace. And children look for colored eggs in chimney socks.
I loved the Swanbeck character. He was a more quirky and tough version of Judi Dench's M. He had only a couple of scenes but Anthony Hopkins made him so memorable with 3 of the best quips in the entire film. We know what they are so no need to repeat them again and again in the Comments Section. He should've returned for the sequels. One can easily contrast the no-nonsense approach of the Swanbeck character with that of the sometimes goofy and somewhat off character of Hunley in MI:5 & MI:6. Ethan and Swanbeck on the other hand have excellent chemistry without it ever seeming to be forced.
03:30 to 3:37 - This clip cuts out the fine ending to this line. "But you don't always get your luggage on the plane. Even when you travel first class."
I’m sorry, too, Dmitri… I’m very sorry… All right, you’re sorrier than I am, but I am as sorry as well I am as sorry as you are, Dmitri! Don’t say that you’re more sorry than I am, because I’m capable of being just as sorry as you are… So we’re both sorry, all right? 🤣😂
Fun fact--Sir Ian McKellan turned down the Swanbeck role. I think Hopkins did a better job. He gave the film some much-needed dignity. Some variety and depth from the action sequences.
As a Spaniard, that whole made up festivity is hilarious, since it totally goes against the spirit of any actual Spanish festivity. Burning our saints?? Seriously?? LOL
I can’t get over it. The first 2 movies were just legacy action and mind thrillers, I couldn’t get into 3 or any other movie after. MI2 came out when directors and film projects actually had a visible degree of passion for relatable/legendary and creative story telling. Sigh

That’s on you for assuming that women’s feelings are fragile enough to be hurt by this scene and failing to understand “that it was allowed to be left in” because it’s necessary to explain the plot to outsmart the villain, like in a proper Mission: Impossible caper. In this case, the plan is to use someone with a prior connection to the antagonist to gain his trust, yet here you are harping on the gender of that someone and assuming that the people behind this have something against women based on that. In other words, your shock is in vain.
Hopkins nailed this scene. They should have kept him around.
