    Do you think it would be feasible to replace the faceplate ribbon cable with a longer one and use it detached?

      Hi. Probably yes. All high-frequency circuity is on the main board. I'd only be worried about the microphone signal quality (it might pick up digital noise on the longer path) - but it's something to be tested.

      Someone made a faceplate relocation kit already. Do a google search for "Anytone AT-778UV / Retevis RT-95 Remote Head Adapter Kit. Dual Band Radio"

    Shame about the crap music. Yes I turn off the sound and use CC if available.
