    Excellent. Thank you. An American RUclips chap said it couldn't be programmed from on the unit. That's a relief, if a little clunky. I will probably get the programming lead, but always prefer to do it directly. It seems a lot to remember, but I have digital music workstations. This should be a doddle. 😅

    Hello Mike1074. I just watched your programming video, nice job by the way, very helpful. I was wondering, could the user program the transmit frequency first, then the receive frequency, along with the PL's. I understood that when you program the +/- offset it should automatically set the correct transmit frequency, but sometimes the radio's firmware doesn't always do that, it's often a number or 2 off. Thanks

    • @OntheMicwithMike
      @OntheMicwithMike  4 года назад +1

      Hi Carl, I must admit I've never encountered any software that's not set the correct offset that I've entered myself. As for entering the transmit frequency first, I'm not sure that would work. But I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong :)
      I've only ever done it RX frequency first followed by the offset.
      In some software, you can manually enter the frequencies for RX and TX in that case there's no problems doing it that way.

      @carlpickel3009 4 года назад

      @@OntheMicwithMike Ok, thanks for the reply and help. Some radios you can enter both the tx and rx frequency via it's microphone, I wasn't sure about this rig. As for programming via computer a lot of buyers of the Anytone 778 model have encountered issues, I'm one of them. Thanks

    I'm so new to this & this might be a dumb question but are the channels the same no matter where u live? Or how do I find which is the right ones for transmission & receiving?

    • @OntheMicwithMike
      @OntheMicwithMike  3 года назад +2

      Hi Amanda, no question is dumb :)
      Depending on where you live, repeaters will change and a way to find your local repeater(s) would be to check out the RepeaterBook website, they also do an app for your mobile device.
      Search your area for 2 metre and 70 centimetre repeaters and you should find a few that will be heard.
      Now I must state and I presume you already know but, transmitting on this radio without a ham license on the amateur radio bands can land you in hot water.
      You could use it for PMR 446 (license free) but the problem with that is - the radio isn’t a legal standard PMR radio and pushes out far too much power for the PMR band.
      Just wouldn’t want anyone getting into any issues using these radios that’s all.
      Stay safe!

    Great video! I'm easily hitting repeaters in the area within 30 miles in decent conditions. Sound quality is good and the fit and finish seem solid (to me anyway). For the money and features, you can't go wrong.

    Hey Mike, here's another issue with my radio...
    I want to add one of our local repeaters, and it is showing the split. It has the CTC on the transmit, but it's still showing simplex when i transmit.
    Another example of it's not as easy as it seems.
    Also, I can not put a UHF frequency on A side, and it automatically does the split.
    I have to put VHF on A and UHF on B.
    In my 878, it is so easy to program. Why can't this radio be as easy

    Everything I wanted to know about manual repeater programming - nothing I didn't want to know. You should write your own user manual for this radio.

    Thanks for tutorial Mike. I did get confused at 1:31 when you said the repeater's receive freq was 433.15, I think you meant the repeater's output freq (the one you receive on).

      Thanks Steve, maybe I wasn’t very clear but I meant the frequency that the repeater listens on, so the one you’d transmit over to the repeater 👍🏻 (uplink frequency)

      Well, do you still own the radio? It's been three years since the video was posted and I wanted the opinion of someone who has this equipment for a long time.

      I still have the radio yes, but to be honest I don't use it much as I don't really use 2m/70cm. But it does still work as it should.

    My radio Displays an error When I try to enter the offset.
    Any idea how to change that?
